Perfect for Movies & Tv show's - Terrible for Music – To Start Lets talk about what i have used in the past i started with a budget sony DVD 5.1 surround sound player which at the time for $200 new this was around the time of the playstation 3 launch back in 2005 was excellent for gaming at the time and watching dvd movies but lacking features such as arc and optical audio i was a only able to… Read more
connect 1 device at a time via aux red/white audio cables so it was quickly outdated it didnt even have hdmi in/out only the old rgb aux but it did sound good for what it was.
i moved onto a sony muteki 7.2 system which was much too large for my small room but it was able to hit all the highs mids and lows very well when it came to gaming and watching movies/tv shows with clear voices and mids but bass would distort every now and then which was a shame because it had two large 12 inch subwoofers that felt like they where lacking bass compared to my single alpine 12 inch type r 500rms sub in my car. I then moved to a 2.1 channel edifier S350db powered bookshelf speakers which was excellent for gaming and playing music on pc via optical audio the low end bass and mid/highs were crisp clean and tight not sloppy distorted bass like the sony muteki 7.2 however for movies and tv shows was hard to hear voices in some shows and most movies the bass was over powering and it didn't support thx or dolby audio or have hdmi arc/e-arc so was really lacking features for movies/tv shows as it was hard to hear the voices which lead me to wanting a soundbar to go with my new Hisense U8HAU 55 inch mini led tv 2022 model
I've had the Hisense U512G for a few days now and there thing that i like and dislike about it so far
Connectivity while out of the box it only comes with a highspeed hdmi cable which is only capable of 18gbs ide recommend upgrading to a better hdmi cable capable of ultra speed 48gbs speeds especially if you intend to use hdmi 4k 60hz passthru at all. This sound bar doesn't support pass thru above 4k 60hz so if your using a ps5 or pc or other device and need to run above 4k 60hz then you will need to connect your device directly to the tv then run audio to the soundbar from the tv via arc or better the e-arc connection or some other connection method while the soundbar once connected via e-arc connects to there inhouse tv's just fine allowing you to use your tv remove to turn on and off both you tv and soundbar with the press of a single button which is great not having to reach for multiple remote controls to turn everything off.
Movies,Tv shows 4 out of 5 i use the movies sound settings and turn bass down to -1 i chose this setting because with bass set to 0 some movies such as transformers the bass distorts every now and then Just bad eq settings out of the box imo most video content play very nice with this setting hitting highs and lows without distortion and very clear vocals & dolby atmos sounds great in a small room however the midbass is lacking a little and in some areas is a little noticeable after coming from my edifier system but if i didn't have anything to compare it to other than crappy tv sound then i wouldn't notice the lack of midbass at all so not a deal breaker here i think most people would genuinely be happy with the sound quality.
Gaming 3.5 out of 5 i tried FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE and forza Horizon 5 on on PC and it did not disappoint the sound was amazing however it and again lacked a little mid bass but overall was good i wouldn't recommend using it for competitive gaming as nothing beats a good headset for competitive gaming but for single player games its just fine.
Music 0 out of 5 this is were its is an utter failure i tried a few soundtracks from acdc trivium dr dre eminem and more rock, rap ,metal songs and they all failed miserable no mid bass to be heard of bass lacks in almost all areas and highs are tinny making voices sound too high and bad clarity and just over all terrible so don't buy this soundbar if you have any intention of listening to music with it cause its atrocious and i will never listen to music out of this again my Edifier 2.0 R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers with a 13mm silk dome tweeter and 4 inch full range Woofer that only cost $159 rrp i picked up for $110 on black friday sales Sound 10000x better than this soundbar for music the difference is night and day pretty much any power bookshelf speaker will sound way better than this soundbar for music
keep in mind i based this review on the price ive paid for it which was $455 Aud this soundbar RRP is $799 and is currently $699 at jbhifi ,good guys ,harvey norman if i paid that much i wouldn't recommend this soundbar im sure there better in that price range but considering the only other worth soundboard under $500 was a samsung with a tiny 6.5sub compared to this 8inch sub the samsung really lacked bass from the demo i heard in store and while slightly better clarity with the samsung it jsut didn't have the bass that a 8 inch sub can provide so i can recommend this soundbar of you can get it under $500 Aud but if paying over that price or listen to music often then ide look at something else
Stopped working after a while and inadequate support from Hisense – Worked fine for a month, then no sound output from the soundbar with my LG TV connected via eARC, or any other device connected with Bluetooth (PC, phone etc.). Volume control on the unit and soundbar remote also failed to adjust volume. Hisense support were friendly but unable to work through a solution, and won't send out a technician for a… Read more
soundbar.
I will be returning for a refund as this is the second faulty soundbar with the same issue. It's a pity because the sound was actually good (when it worked). Hisense suggested I contact LG support - I don't believe this is an issue with the TV, as multiple Bluetooth devices would also not play sound when the TV was completely disconnected.
Great sound bar at half the price of the competition – I was not sure what to get initially but decided on the High sense bar. The surround field it generates is very very good for a sound bar option and the quality of the sound is great for music too. Arc works flawlessly. Very happy. Thanks Giuseppe at the Good Guys Penrith for the great customer service seeing what I had and advising on the bar I had chosen and a $20 discount, it was nice as the bar was already at one of the best price around. Hisense pulled one out of the bag with this one – Well , I didn't expect the sound that it produces , for soundstage it happily exceeds the Bose soundbar 700 , Dolby Atmos is excellent it does sound like effects come from above you , now this soundbar uses Eilex's Prism system , I've been waiting to see if it is as good as claimed and well it is , the little subwoofer punch's way above it's grade… Read more
actually gets deeper then LGs flagship sound bar " probably due to the subwoofer driver being larger and capable of much more excursion
