Cap is not engaging sprockets. If outside of warranty: Solved that by removing screws on underside of cap. Pulled cap off to reveal brass nut that could be opened. The plastic unlock wasn't engaging having been pressed down too low. Cleaned out. Reassembled but not pushed down too far.

Similar problem to mine. The gear under the capto engage the unscrew slips down if pushed too hard and so it no longer engages. WHEN COLD... I used a very small diameter Philips head screwdriver (used for electronics) to remove the 3 screws under the plastic cap while still in place. Then could remove the whole plastic cap to reveal the plastic gear and metal screw stopper. Unscrew this metal stopper using multi grips. Flush out tank and screw fitting. Lift the gear up the stopper a little so that it can engage with the cap. Refill water. Replace metal stopper, cap and 3 screws. Push down gently to tighten the stopper. Don't push down too hard as it pushes the gear down too far.

Sure, put some light soapy cleaner on first then steam off gently. I had to take mine back due to problems getting the top on and off.

I have deleted my prev. reply because I thought you meant another one I bought. Re the KMart one - the top is a nightmare I took mine back and got a refund, but the woman at Kmart had no problem clicking it and getting it to work. Go figure !

Hoo Kmart. I’ve just asked a question. Hoping there’s an easy answer because we liked the product. Just can’t get the lid off

Click the unlock button and hold when opening the top it’s like double safety system, press lock and hold then press down on the top lip and twist

I used it once and I had the same experience. Impossible to open again following the instructions. I was ready to return it, when I thought that it's odd that it was quite easy before and after use is impossible. I managed to open it after all! :) So the reason that it's not opening again is because there is pressure left in the the inside, when I finished using it, I never opened it, I just let it cool down with the top on. This was a mistake. This is how I solved it: I plugged it back in, let it heat up, when the green light comes up, pull the trigger, release the trapped in air/pressure, and while it's warm, unplug and open the lid as described (push down and turn). This will do the trick. This process is also described in the manual but at the wrong place (how to refill when in use). They really should state it that you can only open it again when it's still warm with no water left inside, just release all pressure. Hope it does the trick for you guys as well.

I let mine go cold too and now can’t get the lid off. Have turned back on till green light then let pressure out - but there was barely any because I had done that when I finished cleaning. Unplugged and tried to undo cap. Still won’t budge. What do I do now? Thinking I’ll have to return it. What have others done?

Undo the pressure release cap and use the cup and funnel provided to fill it.

Push down and turn anti clockwise.
