Honda Dominator NX650

Dominator or dominated – Well built solid bike bit heavy for off road use. Single cylinder 650cc engine good for 70,000 miles if maintained well. Engine can get a bit of tappet noise and not always easy to start when cold. I haven't found the bike to be very economical around 16km per litre and the tank is a little small so your be in the petrol station while your mates ride by. Had no major issues and has a decent 90mph top speed. Show details
Excellent – This a dual purpose single cylinder motorcycle of the Paris-Dakar type it is a very useful dirt road tourer with good offroad ability based on the air cooled XR series of dirt bikes with an air cooled 650cc engine of about 40hp with very good low down torque and a level of indestructability made in Italy by Honda. Ideal bike for 60-100kph dirt… Read more
touring barely notices a pillion no matter how heavy. Will go anywhere with a good rider on board. It's main failings are it's weight of 167kg and the motor lacks top end on the road and gets tiring at 100kph the seat is comfortable for this type of machine even with a pillion, a true old fashioned big bore dirt tractor with ease of riding in the dirt and ability that defies most of it's competitors particularly in the rough. Ideal learners bike for the big learner as a 115kg learner was impressed with how easy it is to ride just be prepared for some serious muscling if it falls over or you are in trials bike terrain. Fuel economy is good as is the range of the 17l tank quite capable of 500km a day on rough fire trails. On the open road 90km/h was as fast as you would want to cruise the motor and frame seem oblivious to load brakes are not up to the task of fast road riding but the machine needs to be pushed well beyond it's design brief before it shows it is not a road bike. Like all singles it makes a great commuter. I only got rid of mine because it is a popular model with thieves. It must be noted that earlier models have kick and electric start later models have only electric start. I'd buy another one if I wanted a good forestry trail day ride machine ideal for a learner as the engine is very user friendly.
