Despite a Lifetime Warranty, when the pull chain broke, Hunter Victoria told us to buy another one. Sent us a link for a plastic chain approx. cost 80c. Given the pull chain broke inside the mechanism and was part of an interior part we requested they replace same under warranty. No, no says Hunter. You buy the part. We don't know part number we say. Hunter gave us a part number. It wasn't available; not here, nor USA, nor anywhere else. Months and months of research and contacting Hunter brought no joy. We were forced to have an electrician look at the fan. He scratched his head, said he'd not seen a part like it and would do some research. He found a part via e-bay. He arrived today to install it - after we'd put up with 45 degree days. Part had to be filed down to fit. It was square. The original was round. Beware lifetime warranties........... Beware those offering same knowing they won't have to oblige.

Follow-up  · 1. the fan was working absolutely beautifully and had always done so: the problem was that the metal pull chain was only STRING inside the fan motor. String! Idiotic. There's only so many times one can abrade a piece of string before it breaks apart. 2. the electrician's bill was AUD1500 but this included several other small jobs: guessing the fan was about one quarter to one third of that bill: however, whilst that is far more than a new replacement Hunter fan from Bunnings it is less than the original cost of the original fan: the replacements are not a patch on the originals.
