Research the market as I am sure you will find mowers better than this – The mower has shortened the time spent mowing but I am so frustrated with the amount of time repairing the drive components of the deck. Not sure what steel husqvana uses but components just keep breaking Bolster break, steel cracks and the deck belts self destruct from coming off all the time. The mower also has serious traction problems perhaps more aggressive tyre treads may fix this issue Would not buy another product from husqvana Show details
Skids like Im on a drifting speedway – Main issue is that the tyres have zero traction. Skids on wet or dry grass. The sales team offered no solutions; when tested (on concrete) they said there is no problem. Will need to purchase different tread. Regret the purchase. Show details
This the worst mower ever – Don't buy one they are no good . They don't cut even the drive belt comes of all the time . Everything keeps falling off and breaking the thing that holds the blade on . The dealer didn't do the pre delivery service at all. Deck falls apart I have been mowing my block for 30 years with a rover rancher and had no problems. Show details
The best thing since slice bread – I have had a Yard Pro and I have had a John Dere but the Husqvarna is absolutely spectacular. My mowing is now done so much more faster and quite effortlessly too. It’s got great power to ratio in that I can almost climb over anything and there’s even a lever where I can go over an obstacle without stopping and changing the height. It’s… Read more
comfortable and easy to go in the direction you want but on a downhill, you have to take it real slow as there’s no brakes per se.
Because of Red Shed, the service Gary and his team gives makes maintaining the mower a dream and it’s because of Gary, we love our Husqvarna Zero Turn.
Can't cut regular length grass without throwing the tensioner spring – Less than 3 hours cutting on this piece of junk and it has thrown the deck spring FIVE TIMES. I've spent more time putting the spring and belt back on than actually cutting grass. It first threw a spring on grass about 30cm high and now throws it whenever the blades engage. Avoid this mower. Mine is a DUD! – Purchased new, after a few months parts seem to fall off everywhere, springs, bolts, belt. Deck shakes like hell. Loud and noisy. Can hardly cut through two clumps of grass without stalling. I think they should have sold mine with a free trailer to pick the bits that fall off. Very Very disappointed. My acreage is flat, clear from debis Show details
Danger, out of control – went to the dealer and said we had a steep block to mow. No worries, this will be perfect. What a fib. I can honestly see this mower killing me or my husband. Even now that the grass is dry it still skids down slopes and won't turn. It is fantastic on our flat parts, great around the garden, trees etc but as soon as there is a slope of any kind… Read more
it becomes a terrifying monster.
The dealer even delivered it and saw our land but said it would be ok, just put water in the tyres. We have not done this yet but have reduced the pressure in the rear tyres. If only there was a foot brake on this model to control the front wheels. If you try to go across a slope the front wheels just simply turn themselves down the hill and you start sliding.
I seriously would not recommend one unless you have perfectly flat ground. I want to swap it back for a tractor mower, at least then I will have control over it!
Crap waste of money and cannot handle 3 acres – This mower continually costs money because it is in the workshop more than it should be for parts breaking .My land is flat and easy to mow but this machine is garbage and I will not ever buy Husqvarna again .I have tried to get answers but no one is interested. Crap Crap Crap – I bought a zero turn HUSQVARNA, in March this year and it's spent half that time back at the workshop 100km away. I have 2 acres and it just doesn't handle that kind of yard. It's all flat ground and I am very careful with it, because I absolutely need a mower to keep it down and under control but this mower has spent too much time back at the… Read more
workshops being fixed, and I am sick of it. I am sick of being told, that that's not covered under warranty, you'll have to pay to get that fixed!! I should have bought any other brand other than HUSQVARNA.
A fantastic time saver. No major issues at all – I was sick of using a Victa hand mower as we have a farm with lots of grass and paddocks to cut 2 to 3 times annually. Looking into ride on mowers I was impressed with the size of 48 inch cut and how much time this could save me. Having purchased the Husky in 2013, from our local Store, i was excited to see how it performed. Fantastic, cutting the… Read more
grass was easy. Seating is very comfortable, even after a number of hours in the chair. Ear muffs should be worn for longer periods i have found. Thick grass needs to be taken slower and with the blades raised up higher, to make sure it doesn't stall. Fuel economy is fine, with many hours between fill ups. I have had an issue of the belt being dislodged, but it was an easy fix. Battery has been changed recently and tyres required pumping up. In wet conditions the rear wheels can bog in and not turn effectively, but hey, all in all the Mower saves me so much time and requires very little maintenance. I am very happy with my Husky.
A competant mower when it's working – I bought a brand new EZ4624 model in late 2010. As I have an undulating block with some steep parts, I had the stock rear turf tyres replaced with tractor type tyres. This made it very easy going up hills. Going down hills with skid steer mowers is another story. You just head down pretty fast and change direction by skidding basically - not for… Read more
the faint hearted! During the second use the engine stopped for no apparent reason. It was discovered that fuel had leaked into the engine when the mower was turned off, which mixed with the oil and then the engine seized. As the 24HP Briggs engines were not available, it was replaced under warranty with a 26HP Briggs. The mower is fast and cuts dry grass very well, even up to 750mm high. Fuel economy is OK and the big fuel tank capacity means you can go for c.3 hours between fill ups. However it does not cope with cut grass accumulating on top of the cutter deck and will throw the cutter drive belt occasionally. I find the seat comfortable and the driving position is fine. The controls are responsive and I have not had an issue with the mower starting except when I left it over 3 months between uses the first winter. I now charge it every 3 weeks or so over winter. Fast, reliable and a comfortable ride It throws the cutter belt off the pulley sometimes.
Great Mower...perfect for large lawns.....not ideal for steeper areas – After 5 hours of use I have mostly praise for this machine. The biggest pro of the machine is the effectiveness of the Mulch system and it's ability to completely dissolve grass and leaves and small sticks (I purchased the mower with the 48" fabricated deck and mulch option. The zero turn has substantially reduced my mowing time compared to the… Read more
tractor style mower that I was previously using.
I purchased the mower as this was the cheapest fabricated deck model with a 48" cut that I could find (in a reputable brand)
My 2.5 ac garden does have some steeper slopes which does test the mower. It is widely published that zero turn lowers are not ideal for slopes and this mower supports this. The issue is that it does not have as good traction in reverse as it does going forward. This let's you get into considerable trouble as it is easy to drive forward into spot but you cannot reverse out. It is most dangerous when you head down or across a slope, you then pull back on one lever to turn....the wheel skids and you cannot control the mower. It is OK once you are aware of it but dangerous for new players. Additionally I have only had this during the summer months, I am concerned of it's tractability once the ground is wet. (I will update you). I have experimented with tyre pressures with little success.
The only negative of the mulch system is the dust, as the matter is not discharged to the side, the dust has nowhere to go and ends up covering the machine and the driver. As a result I need to clean the air cleaner after every mow.
The 24 hp B&S motor is fantastic and certainly does not lack power.
Of some concern are some minor quality issues. firstly the levers have had inconstant friction adjustment so one lever feels lose, the other tight which does not give a quality feel to the machine. The throttle control has not been adjusted correctly and will not hold the desired throttle setting at times due to the friction adjustment not being set correctly. These are minor items and can be fixed through adjustment, however, I expect this to be done for me when purchasing an $8000 machine.
Another issue I have encountered is the plastic access panel to the controls fell out while in use. I then ran over it so this will need to be replaced by Husquvarna.
I have heard some creaks etc which I think may be flex in the chassis .... The chassis does not appear to be built as heavy duty as the fabricated deck (which appears bullet proof).
Overall the function of the machine and quality of the cut is fantastic. Quality of Cut and Mulch. Speed of cutting Traction (particularly in reverse). Minor quality issues.
Buyer Beware – I purchased a new EZ4824 Husqvarna zero turn August 2011 with large catcher for around $9k? from memory? I didn’t get an Owner’s Manual / Service Log, so I had to down load this from the internet. The issues I encountered with this machine were as follows. The catching system blower was belt driven, the chute clogged up constantly and would … Read more
throw the belt off. It was always used on dry grass on the 2nd cut setting up from the lowest and on maximum 2.5” high grass. Before 20hrs were logged both the transmission rod between the 2 hydrostatic transmissions and the wheel nuts on both rear tyres came loose.
My local Husqvarna dealer took one look at it and didn’t want to touch it, but he did and should be commended for going out of his way to assist with the issues. His words were “that the dealer who sold it to me didn’t even PD (pre deliver) the mower” Hence why it fell apart.. The excuse I was offered from the selling dealer was “that it comes in from the US pre-assembled and that they don’t check it”.
I was going through new blades every 20 hours and blower belts every 15 hours so the selling dealer promised he’d send me some replacement blades, I had to call up 3 weeks later to ask where they were? I was then sent a set of free blades for a 52” so they we’re useless on my 48”. All my issues were emailed to Sydney area Manager... with no response, and then recently to the VIC Area Manager.... via telephone call.,,,,, did state “he’d look into it and get back to me” to this day I’m still waiting for ....’s response and to return my phone calls, even though I had a Husqvarna dealer outline the major faults & in competencies with this particular machine no one within Husqvarna has bothered to contact me.
If you're thinking of purchasing a ride on with a catching system, my advice personally after my experience would be to NOT to buy a Husqvarna. I have a Walker MT now, a lot more $ but I don't have any issues with performance, breakdowns or getting support and advise from Walker. It would make a great boat anchor, but thats it, The catching system is belt driven. and the dealer should have given it a basic check over before it was sold.
I wanted for years to buy ride on mower but what holds me back from buying one is idiotic design in… Read more
