Good – Ive owned a KTM 2007 250exc and a 2009 Husky wr250. No doubt the KTM feels like a slightly more refined overall as a package. The finish of the parts, hydralic clutch and just general overall feel is a step up from the husky. For an enduro machine it does lack a 6th gear, but unless you plan on doing lots of open trails, it is unlikely that you… Read more

will be doing much racing over 100km/h anyway. Yes i know you can change the gearing to suit this but apart from the high speed stuff, the gearing is perfect for anything technical - ur up and down on the box making the most of every gear available. I ride with guys who are on KTM 530exc 2009 and a Husaberg 570fe. No doubt these machines are refined and smooth, but they are like limousines and great for open trail. Get into single tight technical tracks and they need to work hard to keep up the same pace as the nimble 2T wr 250.

I had some initial issues when starting and was fouling up the plug. My problem there was that i didnt take the choke off straight away when it started and used too much throttle initially. What you should do is (for cold start), choke on, kick it into life with about 1/4 throttle, then back the throttle off immediately and take the choke off. Let it warm up for a few minutes squeezing the throttle on every now and again to about 1/4.

Air filter access is fantastic and can be changed in 2minutes.

Not a fan of the 12mm allen key front axle bolt. I was suppose to recieve this with the bike, but i cant find it. A replacment bolt can be bought through Husky R&D to remedy this.

The exhaust pipe (as with most 2T bikes) is prone to being mashed. It is worth putting on a protective radiator hose over the bottom left (when sitting on the bike) radiator hose in the likely case you drop the bike and bend the pipe slightly into this hose.

I'm not a mechanic so i didnt want the hassles and cost of 4T. This bike has been great so far with no issues. I have changed the oil once and lube the chain after each ride and have had not issues at all.

I have added barkbusters (as the stock ones are a bit avearge), radiator guards and a bash plate - for enduro riding, i would highly recommend these.

Would I buy this bike again? At the time, what was available, this bike was around 9500$ ride away plus extra for accessories. KTM equivalent woul have cost at least 10% more. Granted they do have some nice standard inclusions but compared to my old KTM that i bought (and i realise it was 2 years older) i have had a lot more fun with this bike than the old KTM. So yes, i would buy it again.

One reason why i was not a big fan of the KTM was electric start. I dont think you need this for a 250 2T or 300 2T. It is a nice luxury, but you will feel the weight when you start throwing the bike around in the tight stuff as the battery sits with a high center of gravity. But that is just my personal preference.

If you like to buy lots of aftermarket bits, I havente been able to find much for the husky wr250 (ie pipes etc). This may be because it is the same as the older versions and as such you can use those parts. But this doesnt really bother me as i only replace things i need to.

The seat is a bit hard, but you get used to it if you ride regulalry :-)

Great fun bike with minimal maintenance. 4/5 Fun bike with great useable bottom to mid range power. Easy to clean. Easy access to engine. Easy access to air filter. Minimal maintenance. Tyres that came with the bike not suited to hard/rocky terrain.

Not as refined as a KTM (ergos, plastics, finish, cable clutch) hard seat, kick start is a bit hard to get used to, can foul plugs easily if your not used to a 2 stroke (never had problems with this on my ktm). OEM gear lever is not great, and the position of the reversed clutch means the clutch cover is prone to damage from the lever. Stock gears limit top speed to around 120km/h. 12 mm Front axel bolt???

Good – Great bike!!! besides metioned above! strong engine from bottom... good suspension! Easy to handle, thus a lot of power in a wide range. Great bike, but I have one problem.. Have anyone had a problem with the exhaust port getting stucked in open position, which leeds to no respons on throttle untill a certain rpm? Please contact me then, danielperman@hotmail.com

husky wr250 – ive owned plenty of ktm's and purchased a super ceeded wr and the power was awsome, i stiffened the suspension to suit my riding style and had to grind the steering stops down a little but it was a great bike. only had issues with clutch pull so i fitted a magura kit of a rmz and it made it a dream, got a gas gas now and cause of the huskies price tag i think i will get another one next.

Question: What's a Husky XC 250 – Answer: An XC 250 is a WR 250 without the ADR compliancing - simple as that (though it does come with lights and speedo which you can fit to it if you want to - I've left these off mine). The thing is I live in Western Australia and I've just purchased a brand new 2010 model from a dealership in Brisbane and, even with the cost of transport… Read more

included, THE BIKE WAS A STEEL!!! How much of a steel I hear you ask? Well I've just kicked it over and taken it for it's fist squirt up the track for just over $7,200...delivered!!! And what a squit it was - this bike is ABSOLUTELY AWSOME!!! Enormous power, handles like it's on rails and weighs absolutely nothing! Being brand new, I'm still running it in so I haven't had a chance to give it serious stick, however initial impressions are, why would you go 4 stroke. I did a heap of research before I purchased this bike - everyone I talked to told me how reliable the WR 250 was, however the WR's price tag was always a bit out of my budget. However, the XC, is incredibley cheap, top quality, awsome power and friendly on your pocket with all the attributes of the WR, but most importantly, without all the monsterous 4 stroke repair costs to worry about. And every 4 stroke owner I've ever talked to has learnt the hard way that the cheapest thing about owning a 4 stroke is the purchase price!!!.

If you're after an amazing dirt bike without the massive price tag and massive maintenance costs, this is the only bike to buy. I'll post another report when I've had a chance to well and truly suss the bike completely. Amazingly cheap, unreal power, unreal handling, unreal looks, unreal quality, unbelievably light etc etc Only one thing - the kick start lever is, well, interesting. It does start very easily, but the kick start is...interesting.
