IKEA Gazebo. Still standing but every cover ( not IKEA)we have tried does not last very long – The fabric cover firstly tore at Velcro straps then tore off in the wind. The fabric appears to have degraded by the sun and is easily torn, so not UV resistant, ie absolutely not suitable fo Australian conditions. Very disappointing as the rest of the unit is fine. Show details

Roof torn after 12 months – Within 12 months cover shown signs of wear near the Velcro straps, a week later the whole was demolished after a couple of hours of wind. Have since found after reading all the terrible reviews and searching over the web, no replacement covers are available. Completely disappointed by ikea.  Show details

Terrible Canopy Do Not Buy – Such a waste of money, The cover is ripped and ruined after 12 months and the website has no covers in stock and IKEA cannot tell me when there will be more. How ridiculous. I would like my money back.  Show details

Beautiful – Love this gazebo. I hope they reconsider their decision to discontinue it. Much better looking than any other gazebo I’ve seen. Fabric is lasting well so far. Nice one ikea  Show details

Worst purchase from IKEA – After only one year roof canvas torn to shreds by high wind, advised by staff that a replacement is not available, must buy a new complete Gazebo. I am now looking for alternatives, first quote from canvas specialists $800.  Show details

Ridiculous IKEA idea! No replacement canopy!!! – Am very very frustrated after spending close to $400 that within one year our canopy cover was ruined with wind and ripped with wear and tear and now I have been told there is no replacement cover for the damn canopy! Absolute waste of money. Do not buy, I bought another for a different canopy and does not sit properly and was waste of money buying it, very very annoyed to say the least!  Show details

Poor form IKEA – Love the gazebo but a sudden and unexpected violent wind tore the canvass cover to shreds. I am only now discovering that you cannot buy a replacement cover from IKEA. Surprising given that it would seem a fairly easy matter for the company. More than happy to pay for a new cover but it is not possible.  Show details

Ikea is amazingly disappointing with ÄPPLARÖ Gazebo roof – I have bought and erected an Ikea Aoolaro gazebo and LOVE it, However we decided to buy a replacement fabric roof as we think that this is the only piece which might weather and need replacing. Lo and behold NO WAY, Ikea requires you to buy a complete gazebo if you want the fabric roof, so be ready to thrown away all of the structure if you wish… Read more

to replace or refresh the roof. PATHETIC attitude akin to buy a new car when you need to replace the tyres.

Give the roof one year – I only rate the product as bad as it is not possible to purchase the canvas roofing as a separate item. After one year the canvas roofing started to show signs of fatigue around the velcro straps. Small tears began to appear and with the high winds lately, we ended up with a shredded roof. Fair enough we should have removed it. What really… Read more

disappoints though, is that it is not possible to purchase the roof as a separate item. Not really in keeping with IKEA's philosophy surely when the product is rendered useless without a roof. I will attempt to sew patches onto the roof but perhaps IKEA could consider providing replacement canvas roofing for this product.

A Complete Waste of Money – My daughter and her husband bought two of these simultaneously from Ikea in Adelaide in January 2016, and erected them in March 2016. They paid a contractor to level and pave the site, and they also purchased matching side curtains for each Gazebo and furniture from Ikea so it was a large capital outlay overall. The roofing fabric is tied down to… Read more

the frame by a series of velcro straps that are sewn into the roofing fabric. There is no reinforcing at the stitch in point. In September she drew my attention to apparent fabric weaknesses developing at the stitch in point around one or two of the velcro straps. When next I saw it, which was December 2016 she sought my advice as it had deteriorated much more badly and some of the velcro straps were beginning to tear out of the roofing fabric. We reviewed all of the Ikea material that came with the product - instructions, sales and advertising material. We had done nothing wrong, and the product had failed in normal use. My son in law went to Ikea ('Exchanges and Returns') and was advised to bring the faulty roof fabric in to show a Manager. We did that (I went along) the following day. The Manager refused to do anything about it and made two points - we could escalate our claim by going to the ACCC, and secondly, the gazebos had been damaged as in his opinion they had been left erected in windy conditions. Two points about this latter point - firstly there is no mention anywhere in Ikea's material that these must be dismantled prior to 'windy ' conditions, whatever that is, and secondly Ikea had two display units erected in the car park. It was a windy day and we noticed they were not dismantling those, and there were no warnings there that they were not suitable for use in 'windy' conditions. So we are elevating the complaint to Consumer Affairs. Secondly we made a comparison with a similar Oztrail product and the velcro tie downs are much better designed and manufactured than Ikea's Applaro Gazebo's. My daughter and her husband are virtually faced with writing off both gazebos after just 36 weeks of use. Do not buy this product.
