Love sofa hate my smelly new covers – I've recently purchased new replacement covers for my lovely ektorp 2 seater sofa. Great colour, but they had a terrible smell when I opened the package. Will definitely need washing before use. Show details

Was great for a few years , then the fabric holding the cushion inserts together disintegrated into dust ! – For a budget sofa these are comfy chairs and I love that they are washable. However, the inside of the sofa has disintegrated (like those reusable fabric shopping bags that turn to dust). Sadly I found this out when I pulled the cover off so let's hope that inhaling the disintegrated fabric isn't harmful.  Show details

Utter rubbish – We bought this sofa 10 years ago but it was in the a room where it was rarely used. We moved it into the main lounge three months ago and it has literally fallen to bits: there’s only two of us and it’s only occasionally sat on in the evening. Made of particle board and soft wood it was never built to last. So it’s off to somewhere else for a replacement; I will never buy ikea again. It is cheap rubbish.  Show details

Very good but badly packaged – This sofa displays a flat pack label. I thought that would be good for transporting in my car. Went to collect it and shock horror the bloody package was just over 2 metres long, almost a metre wide and 50 cms deep. I dropped all the seats in the car, driver seat almost touching the steering wheel and pushed the box in. Still had almost half a… Read more

metre sticking out the back, strapped the boot lid down, said a few prayers and drove home. I eventually struggled to get the box into the house and opened it to find the damn thing in pieces inside the box.

TIP FOR ANY BUYERS: OPEN BOX AT IKEA AND PLACE CONTENTS SEPARATELY IN YOUR CAR. LET THEM GET RID OF THE PACKAGING AND MAKE TRANSPORTING / CARRYING MUCH EASIER FOR YOURSELF.

Very easy to assemble and very comfortable.

The red fabric covers look as though they will be hard wearing.

No longer a goto sofa – Fifteen years ago we bought two Ektorp two seater sofas. They were comfortable and well made. Cotton covers to cushions, the seats had feather topping to covers which made them very luxurious. White canvas covers were durable and didn't pill. After a dutiful 15 years of family life we returned to ikea to replace and buy all our sofas and chairs… Read more

for our new house. We started with buying one Ektorp two seater and took it home . We unwrapped it to find out that the quality has vastly changed for the worse. The arm foam was all sagging and the overall construction materials are very cheap and nasty.

As we live in the country we are not going to waste time and cost on returning it. We will no longer buy more as after 6 months of owning the 'new Ektorp' the foam inserts have discoloured and feel compacted and are uncomfortable . The canvas slip covers are prone to pilling and we do not wear clothes that cause this such as track suits . We have the previous old sofa that proves the quality difference. Typical of all businesses downscaling quality to keep pricing low and combating rising freight. Sad and disappointed will not be buying more Ektorps!

Great supportive sofa – Fantastic sofa. I've just bought a 3-seater and have twice owned a 2-seater when living overseas. I need good support for a weak back and the Ektorp does this. Great support for lower back and decent head support too. I wouldn't have any other sofa.  Show details

Ignorant and Ill trained staff at Ikea – I have purchased a new unit and on moving on the 26th August discarded my 2 old sofas. With this plan,On the 17th august 2015 I drove to the Tempe store to purchase a 2 seater sofa. The reason I went out of my way to Tempe was because your website said only the Tempe Store had the product However when the sales person looked up the product I… Read more

was informed it was at Rhodes and it would be cheaper to have it delivered from there. So approximately a week later I went to Rhodes to purchase the sofa only to be told it was next day delivery, either morning or afternoon . I had not been informed of this at Tempe. So I had to abort the purchase.

On the 27th August I again returned to the Rhodes Store to purchase the Sofa. I did this and requested Delivery an Assembly. I was then sent to another counter where again I asked for Delivery and Assembly. I was then informed that Morning Delivery was anywhere from 0800-1500hrs (not what most people would call morning. The Sales person told me that the assembly people would contact me within 7 days.

The sofa was delivered on 28th august. And I have waited for the Assembly people to contact me. Today the 4th September I rang IKEA and was informed I should have paid for Assembly at Purchase. The IKEA Call Centre person told me it was my responsibility to organize the Assembly, would not let me talk to a more Senior person , so I said I would be making a complaint to both IKEA and Fair Trading So he said “lets leave it there and cut me off”So I was left with no details of the Assembly company and had to ring IKEA again.

This whole process reflects very badly on IKEA. Your staff do not know what they are doing and are giving out wrong information.

This whole process of disinformation has greatly distressed me and left me with a bad back from having to sit on the floor for a week
