I bought this air fryer 30 April 2025 after reading reviews which gave it good performance ratings but after not even 3 months of use ( about 3x week) the message came up that filters needed replacing. The instruction booklet advised to visit… Read more

instant pot.com.au to purchase new filters at a cost of $19.95 but the message said ‘out of stock’. I emailed the company and the eventual reply confirmed that the filters were out of stock and that they were not expecting to receive any more stock! Moreover, the instruction booklet says that the filters are not recyclable. Although the operation of the air fryer to date is satisfactory, the fact that the air filters cannot be recycled and new ones are unavailable and not likely to be available in the future, means this air fryer is virtually useless and a waste of money!

Follow-up  · The manufacturer replied to my email giving me a link to a third party supplier of filters, so I had a look and the related views from people who had bought these filters and was disappointed that nearly all the reviews said they were unsatisfactory- the wrong type of material and the incorrect size. I tried cleaning the original filters in the… Read more

Compact size with a large tray – This air fryer is like a tardis - it looks small on the outside but has a large amount of space in the tray. It’s easy to use with touch buttons and a knob to turn to adjust the temperature and time. The sleek top makes it easy to clean. The tray comes all the way out and can be easily washed or put in the dishwasher. I bought a small silicone… Read more

tray to go inside as well and this fits perfectly. Quality of cooking is good and food is crispy. It’s much quicker than a standard oven. There is even an alert when it thinks your food is about to start to burn. The noise level is quite low so it’s not bothersome. The winning feature of this air fryer is simply the large tray but compact overall size. Would definitely recommend this fryer.

A fantastic AirFryer - A vital addition to your Kitchen! – We have had the Instant Pot Vortex Plus for 21 days and it is excellent. Healthy, Chicken thighs and salmon are cooked perfectly with very little time and clean up. We have also done a few Korean Fried Chicken which was better than restaurant quality! Another great win was the Pork Belly, Skin crackled up perfectly! There is an easy user friendly display and a large cook tray - big enough for 4 salmon pieces skin or 6 Free range chicken thighs Show details

So far, so good – Firstly I bought mine in an unusual way. I was exploring the Amazon Warehouse function and came across this air fryer. It appears that Amazon sell-on returned, used or old stock on this site. I saw this air fryer at prices ranging from $111 (acceptable condition) up to $158 (new). Acceptable condition means items can have minor damage e.g.… Read more

scratches and new means, well, new. I went for the new model and saved around $100 on a shop-bought price.

Now, how does it cook? So far we have had crumbed fish which was excellent, chips which were not as crispy as hoped for but were very well rated by the family. We also had crumbed calamari rings, also excellent and we've had hash browns which were soggy but that may have been my wrong choice of settings. Overall, we're off to a promising start and I certainly don't regret the purchase.

A couple of design points; The fryer is large and so it takes up quite a lot of bench space but then it cooks quite a large amount (for an air fryer that is). The different functions ( air fry, bake, broil etc.) don't actually cause the fryer to perform in a different way but rather they change the time and temp settings to default settings. However I understand if you change a default setting then the fryer "remembers" your setting next time you use it or you could change it back to the default.

Some reviewers have complained of their fryer being set to the default, American fahrenheit temperatures, mine was not, it shows centigrade. Someone else complained of the temperature settings increasing in increments of three degrees. I haven't noticed this and if it is the case it doesn't seem to make much difference.

Oh, there is a definite negative. When pulling out the drawer there is no release catch so that you have to push with your thumb whilst pulling against a strong lock-in catch. That means you need to hold onto the fryer with your other hand so that it doesn't get pulled towards you. Your thumb doesn't get burnt but it is awkward.

And so, like the man said, so far, so good!

Does not work – Purchased from Amazon and was very excited. Turned it on, it briefly flashed all of the screen then went dead. Nothing at all. No screen. It just sits there like it’s not even plugged in. I was going to exchange it but Amazon won’t exchange, only refund. And I can’t get it for the same lower price. Very disappointing. Show details

A good addition to the kitchen – Bought through Amazon, I have found it's very quick as compared to conventional ovens, french fries in less than 10 min that too without any oil, the taste was crispy and same like deep fry. Used roast option to cook marinated Chicken , it was ready n 20-25 min. Huge time and energy saving Watch my detailed review here, I recorded video for better explanation https://youtu.be/D4ncr7pXr0A Show details

Cooks well, some flaws – I came from a Phillips which we'd had for years and it was great. I saw this and and it was significantly cheaper than the Philips with good reviews. The good - it cooks really well! The flaws - The rubber grommets and the drip tray are flimsy. The drip tray will fall out of the pan and hot fat comes out too if you try to tip out the food. … Read more

This got me a few times, duh! My fault coming from the Philips with seperate baskets for food and fat drippings, I was on autopilot :) . I got used to tipping food out with having the Philips for many years. On the Instant you have to remove everything manually with tongs/spoon as you can't tip things out. Once you get used to it it's ok but could be better. For the price I would recommend it, it cooks well. I would look at others just for the tray/basket compromise. though if purchasing another one.

Perfect Price for a great product – Bought this based on the America’s test kitchen review for best value. The draw is a good size and cooks everything well. Chicken, sausages are cooked to perfection and so quickly. User friendly and easy to navigate, auto off and time reminders for oven ready to use/food turning is handy. Cleaning is super easy and am using this kitchen… Read more

appliance much more than I thought we would. Super easy for kids to reheat left overs and the easy oven foods. Was difficult to find locally and bought on special at Myer online.

Better results than expected but with minor flaw for AUS/NZ users – I purchased this model because it won America's Test Kitchen's best Air Fryer award. I was dubious about Air Fryers in general but found that it produced much better results than I expected for specific items I cook regularly. Convenience foods like Hash Bites (bite-sized hash browns) and wedges came out particularly well, although thinner items… Read more

like French Fries were satisfactory at best. Chicken pieces and chicken nibbles were perfect, speedy (24 mins from fridge to table), and super convenient. However, whole chickens are probably better in the oven. Even if it doesn't cook the entire meal, it will handle the otherwise messy side dishes with ease. This particular model wins my top spot based on its cooking performance, good looks, incredibly efficient use of space, and ease of cleaning. As a bonus, it is also one of the more reasonably priced offerings on the market. The Instant Vortex Plus does have one slight downside that stems from its North American origins. The software is designed around Fahrenheit round numbers (e.g. 250, 260, 270), but instead of having sensible Celsius increments like 180, 190, 200, 210 etc., you have increments like 188, 191, 193, 196. That's just lazy design. It doesn't affect cooking in any way, but it is very annoying. It is surprising to see this model arrive in the AUS/NZ market so quickly, especially given how far behind we are with the Instant Plot pressure cookers, but makes a nice change to have the latest. Don't expect Air Fryers to be good at all the things their marketing promises, but for the things they do well, the Instant Vortex Plus is currently your best bet.
