2023 Isuzu DMax 3lt diesel with 18" tyres, purchased off dealer rep at 16000km. Generally good. Some issues that are disappointing are: 1) the audio system - slow and clunky to blue tooth or Mira cast or appleplay- finding we need to use a cable but still clunky. 2) rear seatbelts recessed so deeply into seat it makes it difficult to buckle up 3)… Read more
no vanity mirror in either front visors 4) front driver side knuckle joint was faulty at 17000k replaced under warranty 5) front tyres wearing on inside. 2 have been replaced under warranty. 6) Towing - revs very high and inconsistent with getting into top gear when towing 2.5 T. Found our old Colorado much smoother with towing. 7) Rough suspension
As this is my second Isuzu MUX in past 10 years, I can say that overall, I find these vehicles to be extremely reliable. My only issues with the 2025 which has extras such as bull bar, snorkel, bonnet protector, electric brakes, Tow kit, camera etc… Read more
is that the bull bar restricts the headlight by alleviating any residual light (upper headlight) this causes no light or a very "district" 20m? view, with no residual light you cannot see (in areas with no street light) where you are going at 100-110kph. Recently in Melbourne I was not able to see road separation devices, even though they had reflectors as the distinct light restriction caused by the top bar of bull bar near headlight, this is dangerous and needs attention. Secondly, I towed a trailer and was not able to open my rear hatch due to the hatch identifying the trailer. This was frustrating in a 4,000klm trip, not being able to open the rear hatch of an MUX with a tow kit. Bloody hell! This needs a work around urgently. My first MUX had limited tech and was fantastic, however the newer 2025 needs the bulbar redesigned or a workaround (e.g. running lights low down which will create some residual light that can pick up reflectors for road separation etc - Melbourne area) and a work around for rear hatch when towing a trailer/van. Fix it please!
Follow-up · Raised issues with Cleveland Isuzu regarding the bull bar reducing residual light (not picking up reflectors for line divide/structures(, they were not interested, not even to ensure later models consider in design. I intend to install driving lights lower to provide low light,, enough to identify reflectors when there is no street lighting as at… Read more
I've had my 2024 MUX LST for 10 months, battery has gone flat 4 times and on its 2nd battery. They suggest you leave the keys more than 10 metres away or the electronics stay awake and flatten the battery. Went O/S for 3 weeks came back it was down to Two volts and yes I did lock the car disconnect the dash cam and move the keys away. RACQ… Read more
Mechanic called and said it's common issue with the new Isuzu's. His new DMAX with 4000k's on the clock went flat after a One a week break! He said he put an Isolator switch on the battery to stop it happening to his service truck! He's from the RACQ if they know about it why is it still allowed to happen to customers? Isuzu service say it's because I leave the car sit too long between use, they have a small battery and lots of electronics. I've done 12,000kms? They also said its more common after the first service when it gets the ECU update? I wonder if they do this ECU update at the first service so the batteries don't go flat before the car has a chance to get sold?
Dangerously bad tech that goes its own way – Multiple annoying quirks A/C ventilation system automatically switches to recycled air ...start to doze off on a trip! Front tyre wear poor and scrubs on the inside Fuel inlet won't accept hi flow nozzles... problem when towing and need to use truck ports for access Brake warning beeps frequently and can slam on the brakes dangerously more likely… Read more
to cause an accident Lane assistance is aggressive..really jerks the wheel Parking sensors go off sitting at lights Android pairing only by a cable Wife drove 60kms with key in my pocket when I unhooked a trailer for her Fuel gauge misleading.... seen the distance to empty drop 150kms in about 20 travelled. Don't trust it under about 280kms The vehicle is better than all these poor tech decisions made by someone. 60,000kms in 20 months ... tows well. Poor tech is not just annoying it's dangerous
Dissapointed – Very disappointed with this MUX that I thought would last me another 5 years at least but now I can not wait to trade it in. Brand new December 2023. Tailgate will not open automaticly when you walk up to it & then it will close at times before you can remove anything. Most annoying is the transmission noise, constant whine in low gears. Rough… Read more
ride, sure it is 4wd but it drives & sounds like a truck not a luxury car. It is top of the range LST model. The lane change control is a joke, never trust this & hold on to the wheel at all times. Lack of power but it has only done 3500K, I hope it improves. I only use this car on road for family transport & use it every day for short trips. I traded in a BMW for this car & what a surprise I was in for.
Not Perfect but a Good All-Rounder – We ordered the LS-T version in April 2021 on the back of test driving the D Max ute on which it is based and having dismissed all the opposition (Pajero Sport, Everest, Prado and Defender) as either not meeting our needs or not performing as well as the D Max. Finally took delivery in August 2021at the special introductory price and haven't been… Read more
disappointed. We wanted a tow tug for our 1.5 tonne off road camper with a range of at least 600km when towing, comfortable enough for long-range cruising, reasonable out-of-the-box off road capability (not serious mud-plugging), with good reliability and support. In our opinion, the new MUX meets our requirements better than anything else on the market at the moment. Having said that, we haven't given it a full towing workout yet due to COVID restrictions, and off-roading has been limited to short sections of dirt roads. Highlights are the cavanous and functional load space, effortless (and quiet) motorway cruising (aided by a strong, lazy 3lt engine), comfortable seats (with adjustable lumbar support on the driver's side), some helpful driving aids (once you get used to them) and good build quality (early days yet but the car hasn't needed anything fixed so far). Also, there is no AdBlue to worry about. On the negative side, it is a complex car (aren't they all now?). The owners manual runs to 800 pages' plus another 200 pages for the media/ nav system. The car therefore takes some time to get to know. Some of the detailed implementation of the electronics is a bit clunky, but Isuzu appear to be responsive to constructive criticism and have already provided a software update free-of-charge to remedy some of the short comings highlighted by car reviewers and customers. This bodes well for the future. Other minor niggles are that the steering is a little light for our liking, there is too much piano black in the cabin and the trip computer range read-out seems to pick numbers at random (this may be a fault with our car). We would also have preferred permanent 4wd - or at least a 4wd system that could be used on tarmac. And we have swapped out the 20 inch alloys for more useful 18inch wheels (this would have been a nice no-cost option to have from the dealer). Still, on balance we are very happy with our purchase.
had for 6 years and very happy – 2015 mux LST easy to drive, good on fuel (ave 9.2L/100km) handles well on gravel plenty of space to put all the big stuff in controls are simple and convenient to use can be a little noisy on road tv screen doesn't have option for bluetooth or wired headphones and wont work if you are driving so kids won't be impressed! sat nav very outdated and costs about $300 to update! Def will buy another
Excellent wheels – Roomy comfortable great driving on highway fuel economy is great it’s roomy inside just a great car good for big families all accessories are easy to use recommend to others
Great all round car for family and towing – Love the car so far. We have had it for a few months. A few improvements they could make would be a bigger tank and a stereo head unit that connects to Apple play. We have removed ours and replaced. Otherwise great car.
