I have a 2160 dc and love it.. my take along machine. I had issues with it when I first got it. Thread jamming. I took it to a tec and could find nothing wrong. Went on Amazon and bought a new bobbin holder and now sews like a dream. Hope this helps.

Waste of money. Would not recommend at all – As soon as I bought it , the upper thread started breaking. I don’t sew very often. Use it once a while. I would have just stayed with my cheap$100 brother sewing machine. I upgraded my machine to this one, biggest mistake I have done. I have tried different ways to sort this problem. All went in vain.  Show details

Today I tried to sew and it will not sew , as explained on the screen, it the photo of the bobbin and all of the numbers are 8. Great Machine! – I bought this machine in 2014 and have had no issues. I sew about 4-10 hours a week and have never had any issues! Love it! Can't fault it at all. It sews perfectly every time, no issues with tension. The fact that I sew so often and it has no faults shows that its a great machine.  Show details

Would not reccommend this machine to anyone at all – I bought this machine 31/2 yrs ago within 12mths it started stitching very little stitches which I found very hard to even unpick. It was in & out the repair shop in the next 12 mths & I was told it was the timing, bring it in next time when it plays up. I said sure the only thing when I turn the machine off & on it might work good for a while then… Read more

it starts to play up. WELL they said we can't sit & run the machine all day. So I was very nice & said I will ring you when it happens I'm not far from here will you pay me a visit. Oh we can't do that. So I am back where I started from.

Janome 2160DC - Was happy, but not now – I have a Janome 2160DC, I bought it Dec 2012. It sewed really well up until June 2015 when it started beeping constantly (without touching any buttons!). I took it to a Janome repair technician who went over it and blamed the fault on being unclean and the foot having a few small spiderwebs in it (although I had given it a good clean before I took… Read more

it to him). Apparently it would not do the same thing in his shop, how frustrating for me. So, I was charged for a service, only to return home (over 1hr away) and find it doing exactly the same thing I took it in there for (slightly less frequently than before). It still isn't working, in fact it's gotten worse. I can't do a gathering stitch because it will start doing repeated stitches on the same spot at the beginning of the sew (even though the setting is on 00). It randomly stitches for a while then stops and starts stitching on the same spot again (even though the foot pedal is still pressed down - or if using the Start/Stop function without the foot pedal attached). Soo, soo frustrating!!!

I would not recommend this machine!

Great compact machine – I bought this machine about 4 years ago and have been happy with it. Never had any mechanical/technical issues. Easy to thread and operate. I mainly use it for dressmaking (I'm not a quilter) and it performs satisfactorily. It can sew thick material such as denim however I have to admit that it struggles. It has been a great companion to me as it… Read more

is the first sewing machine I have ever owned and I have enjoyed creating so many things with it. Now I have learned and I found the needle speed is a bit too slow. The throat is not deep enough to sew something large. Maybe I need to upgrade soon for my needs but I still believe it is a great machine for beginners.

Keeps jamming – This machine was great but is continually jamming. I have done everything they say to fix it. I am so angry i spent $1000 as an upgrade. Should of kept my old machine. Does anyone know how to fix this problem. I wrote to janome and how useless were they. They said they couldnt help me take it to a technician.

I love this machine – I've had this machine for 2 years now and haven't had a problem whatsoever and I use it almost weekly. I love the needle threader. It's very straight forward to use and the manual is easy to understand and follow. I seen that someone said their machine kept having bobbing jams but I've never had this issue. The only thing that Buggs me a bit is it makes a humming noise.

performance – The worst sewing machine i have owned . owned memory craft 8000 ,dropped and ruined the electronics couldn't fault the 8000.The 2160dc the stitches all out of proportion, bobbin jams continually, just a waste of money. have been sewing for 60 years sure way to be turned off.

Not happy! – This is my first computerised machine - a 2160DC - having sold my Decore Excel II 5024. Now I wish I hadn't. This machine has serious design faults. Particularly the spool holder which is way too close to the handle causing the thread to pull tight. This causes the thread to repeatedly disconnect from the needle. I'm having to rethread the… Read more

needle so many times - its annoying. The spool also sits somewhat clumsily on a 'loose' angle which also adds to the thread pull problem. Honestly, if this is the best Janome can do I won't be wasting my time with another Janome after I get rid of this one. NothIng Thread tension is poor

Great machine – I bought this machine as my 'take out of the house' machine. It is fantastic - sews very well, has more than enough decorative stitches, makes a great buttonhole, does lovely rolled hems. Very light weight. It is computerised so it is easy to change settings. It has a reasonble price point. I wouod recommend this machine for beginners and more advanced sewists both.

Love this machine – I had a budget of $500 and this machine was in that price range. It is very easy to use and the manual is clear and easy to understand. I have only had tension issues when using cheap thread/wrong needle. Any issues were down to human error or inferior products, not the machine itself. I don't have any complaints about the machine and it does… Read more

everything I need. Came with a 5 year warranty on all computer parts which eased my worry about a computerized machine. Has sewn through quite a few thick layers, although I don't quilt, so maybe take a sample in store to test, but I think it will do great. Computerized functions like auto-locking stitch and needle up/down, speed control options, easy to use. Slight humming noise on start up which then fades, doesn't like the cheap thread I used.
