Unacceptable stitch consistency and bobbin performance! – Until I read other reviews I thought I was doing something wrong. While trying to quilt I found my zigzag stitch turned into a straight stitch on its own. My straight stitches will go from 12 stitches per inch to 24 then maybe 2 per inch. I paid $50 for a walking foot and it still happens. Like other owners I have had the bobbin pop up and break… Read more
numerous needles within one project. I have had it serviced at least twice. I am working on quilts for a new grandchild. I have a Kenmore that is 35 years old. It recently has sewn through fleece and minky fabric that my Janome could not handle. I thought I was stepping up when I bought the Janome QDC3160 so I too am disappointed.
Bobbin keeps popping up – Bobbin keeps popping up and stalls the machine and breaks the needle. I have had it in twice for repair and most times i can get it back into place but is a real bother to always have to undo screws and fiddle instead of sew, It is 2 years old but usually I go to my 29 year old Kenmore as my choice. Have been rather disappointed as I always wanted a Janome. Today it needs to go back to the shop! Show details
Loosing confidence – I've had this Janome for almost 2 years after looking around at a few brands. My budget was about $5-600 and this was the best for my budget. The criteria was to ensure it would sew denim when hemming jeans. For the first year I didn't use it much but have since taken up quilting. Sadly the performance seems to be declining- it grinds when going… Read more
over slightly thicker fabric. The feed dogs seem to pull the fabric and the stitch consistency is poor. I don't have a problem with the bobbin case, unlike many others, so perhaps they repaired the newer models. I'm still trying to evaluate it but I think I'm afraid if I take it to the shop where I bought it, and they "repair" it, I'm the owner of a lemon since I don't believe I should be having any problems since the machine hasn't had that much use. Oh dear!
Never own another Janome – Bought this machine paid $799.00 on special, have had so much trouble with the bobbin area, kept sending it back they couldn't find anything wrong, after the warranty ran out they discovered it needed a new bobbin case. Haha now the foot peddle isn't working. Sick of complaining to Janome who once told me they never have anything wrong with… Read more
their machines. They can have this one back. Who can afford to pay that sort of money and not have a sewing machine work perfectly. Not Me
Sorry I bought it !!! – This model is a complete LEMON it has a MAJOR BOBBIN PROBLEM ,I am so very disappointed with it .It is not the 1st time I have heard other owners complain about it .My other Janome is 20yrs old & is still marvellous but this new one is crap .I have had it repaired but still the problem continues $699.00 is a lot of cash to just be disappointed by a product ..if Janome wants to buy it back I would let them
Smooth, easy and fun to use – I got this machine in April (now August) and it's my first sewing machine. I love the stitch options and the digital screen which makes changes in stitch, length or width easy. Threading is easy and I love the automatic cut button - that would be my favourite feature. Sewing is smooth. I've had no problems with this machine since I bought it. The… Read more
decorative stitches are also lovely. It has quite a number of stitch settings which is very useful. It came with an extension table(?) and all the feet you need except for the button foot (not to be confused with the buttonhole foot which is included). I recently made a silk scarf and was pleased that the machine threading both layers together and there was no slipping of the material. Automatic cut button, smooth, easy to use
I love this machine – I have only had this machine for a short time and I am still learning about all of its features, It is a light weight machine and has great features, needle up/down button, locking stitch, auto thread cutter and needle threader. It has an led light which is not so irritating to eyes. You can adjust the speed slow, med, high. The bobbin is easy to… Read more
load, the machine is easy to thread. My other machine is very basic in comparison, this is my first Janome machine. I paid $799.00 and it is excellent for the price. After I bought it I did however find some onfo online about a problem some people were having with the bobbin case supporter causing tangles, although I haven't had this problem I am aware of it now if this happens, (http://blog.tv-sewingcenter.com/janome/bobbin-case-supporter-issue-with-some-janome-3160qdc-sewing-machines/) This is the address for more info on this problem. The Machine comes with a walking foot and a good selection of other feet and attachments as well as an extension table for quilting. I like the speed adjustment, thread cutter, locking stitch, speed adjuster, great machine to teach my 8 year old daughter on.
