Attachments are overpriced – I agree with the other reviews about the machine, My major complaint I have with the machine is, there is nothing worth while in your parts compartment,{ oil needle threader some netting and few other oddments nothing worth while at all } I would say a total of $ 5.00 in my opinion and that is being extremely generous The one thing I am most annoyed about is the price of attachments for the Cover pro, There is no possible excuse you could give me for the pricing on these extras, some as high as $200.00Aust dollar. Which may I add ,you do need them if I you wish to continue using the machine to its full potential . .Australian company's complain about people shopping overseas this is only one example of the reason why people do it .If you consider buying this machine Price, all extras you need first I have found that dealers will not discount , and it will add dramatically to the price of the machine If I had known this first, and must admit I did not do my ground work as I normally do , in this case the blame falls on me , would I have bought this machine in all honesty no, I would not, I do not like over paying for items that cannot justly be justified in this case, I do not think they can be. I am sure many will disagree with me and some will not and that is how it should be. I rated this machine a three the pricing of the extra feet needed are overpriced and you defiantly need the clear foot as it is not supplied only a old fashioned metal foot , only the start of your extra payment journey

Easy to use – I have never used a coverstitch machine before, so was somewhat apprehensive but there was no need. Came fully threaded and ready to go. Works beautifully. Just a thing to note regarding foot pressure, ensure it is loosened as per instruction book. I haven't attempted threading it yet, but it does look simple. Has beautiful stitching, goes smoothly over seam lines, doesn't require any adjustments going from jersey to a woven fabric, managed coverstitching over ribbed elastic with no issue. A thing to beware with the coverpro is the cost of attachments. A baseplate, required to screw attachments on is at least $125. The feet are well over the $60 mark.

Positives: it is a quiet machine; comes fully threaded; has a nice little accessories plastic case; a reasonable dust cover.

Cons: It could have more lights (or maybe it's my vision); it doesn't come with a clear foot, which would make sewing that make simpler.

Edited to add.. over the course of time this coverstitch annoyed me. It was finicky.. and tho there were always work around I personally did not have the patience to go through the work around to gain the perfect reliable stitch.

Love the professional finish to projects – Having previously owned a Janome 1000CP and having the chance to upgrade to this latest model (2000CPX) I didn't hesitate to grab this opportunity with both hands. The new Tension Level Control (TLC) and Janome's Seam Tightening System™ (STS) is a big improvement, specially for owners who had tension problems on previous models. This machine does 1000spm and is quieter than the previous model, although that's a little hard to gauge as mine sits on a closed cell foam mat (as do all of my machines). The LED lighting is good, the freearm is the same as the previous models and too big for most small sleeves/necks, etc. but as I sew 'in the round' this is not a problem, however I do like the Janome for it's larger flatter bed and space to the right of the needles. I considered a Brother for about 5 seconds! (it's higher price and lack of bed space removed it immediately).

Binders and other attachments from the previous models fit the 2000CPX too and as usual, I fitted the clear view foot immediately, the solid metal foot doesn't give a great view of the stitching area. Janome binders and accessories (like some others) are grossly overpriced so I bought them from a USA eBay seller who sells them as 'industrial binders' and lists compatible machines to make sure they will suit your machine. However, for some of these binders, etc. you will need an attachment plate but this is an easy DIY project and can be made from metal or perspex as it's only purpose is a mounting plate for some of the attachments.

I know a lot of people complain about tunneling and skipped stitches on coverstitch machines but if tensions are adjusted correctly this is easily overcome. Changing to ballpoint needles for knit fabrics will also stop skipped stitches, just make sure you use ELx705 needles and seat them the full distance up into the holder before tightening the screw and don't be frightened to adjust tensions, that's why the dials are there!

Unfortunately I've encountered yet another dealer selling these machines where staff are not trained in their use and while this didn't bother me too much, it would be a deal-breaker for someone new to coverstitching. I had a factory sealed box shoved into my arms and they couldn't get me out of the store quick enough, just hope not 'all' dealers are like this, it's something that Janome really needs to follow up. While on the subject of dealers, there was an offer of free pair of Janome dressmaker scissors (value $40) which I wasn't given either, so needless to say that dealer won't be getting any support from me in the future.

Lastly, these machines (like any other) just need to be cleaned regularly and a drop of oil on moving parts, particularly the looper, for many years of great stitching.

First projects on this machine were a couple of Tshirts, one with a pintucked yoke, an intentional use of tunnelling and it didn't disappoint and will be in my sewing room for quite some time.
