Janome Decor Computer 3050

Easy to use – I've had a Janome DC 3050 for around 5 years now and despite a few teething problems with the buttonhole attachment (the manual could be a little clearer) I have found this machine easy to use and reliable. I have had it serviced a couple of times (once because my daughter dropped it on the ground but it recovered after a service). I mainly use it for making children's clothes.
I had planned to purchase a different brand machine when I went shopping but that make and model proved hard to find and I was talked into the DC 3050. I really like that Janome accessories (feet etc) are easy to find although it would be nice if it came with additional feet included.
Great little machine – I have had mine for four years and although I had similar problems with sewing by itself, it was found to be the foot control that had never been adjusted. I regularly get it serviced and it has sewn theatre costumes for many of these years. It is a great time saver from my old manual control machine. It has even tackled jobs that a new computerised machine of a friend just gave up on.
Terrible – The Janome DC 3050 is a truly horrible, unreliable machine that has almost wrecked my interest in sewing. I deeply regret buying one. I did like this machine for the first few months after I bought it; good value, easy to use, straight seams, good thread tension. But that was when it actually worked..... In the past six months, I have had to return the machine five times for repair under warranty for problems such as sewing by itself - a very alarming fault. It's still not fixed and in fact has now completely died. Two friends have the same model and have both experienced similar problems with unreliability.
Hi.. Just wondering as I value your thoughts.. I'm about to learn how to sew and study fashion in a year and want to learn.. What machine do you recommend? Thanks

Very unreliable Machine! I Study Fashion design at the Whitehouse Institute of Design, therefore are constantly sewing on the machine which has many times ruined my garments. Like the previous comment mine too worked for afew months and then continually needs to be taken in for repairs. The bobbin constantly gets jammed and the tension on the machine is always loose regardless of the adjustments you can make. When I was at highschool we had the same machines and every single one of them had the same problem after a while, I think this is just a faulty make. I strongly recommend NOT purchasing this machine!!!
