Janome MC7700QCP Horizon

I love this machine – Six months ago I decided to upgrade my 20 yr old Janome and purchased the 7700. At first there was serious tension problems and my heart sank. With some investigation into tension problems and a few minor adjustments, this machine sews beautifully. Turns out it was user problems not the machine. Only 1 problem I have noted is the winding of the bobbin, it's not wound properly. I have learnt to overcome this too. So I would absolutely recommend this machine to anyone who is keen on sewing

Disappointed Janome Horizon 7700 – The quilting tension is never correct, I just cant get it right. I asked the dealer if they offer free lessons with it, no, sorry. I had a problem under warranty and they said it depends on what I've done to it, and then they charged me $180 to service it and replace a couple of parts. The embroidery stitches never look any good, go over a bump and they distort or twist up on finer fabrics, the monogramming is even worse.
The free motion quilting is dreadful, full of 'eyelashes'
The Auto Plate Converter is terrible, my needle hits it when I use the S1 feature.
I'd like to sell it and get something better.
The instruction manual, hard to find what you are looking for.
Further to this review, at my last service they replaced the bobbin race, and today, 2 months later, the very same bobbin race fell apart, a tiny screw is missing and now I cannot use my machine till it's fixed or replaced.

Have just purchased my 3rd bobbin race, they just break in no time.
So disappointed with the machine, i spent $300 on a service to ensure all was good and sold it to someone who was looking for one of that model.
Great Quilting Machine – This is my third Janome machine and I have loved them all. I sold my second one at a very good price (they do hold their value) a Janome MC6600P for a machine with a larger throat for quilting larger sizes. I still have my original one bought over 20 years ago SX2122R still going strong for mending and sewing shade cloths and canvas. This machine the MC7700QCP Horizon has been great for quilting and just normal sewing and using the small embroidery selection available. In just over 2 years I have quilted over 30 quilts from cots to queen size with ease. Using the correct foot for particular jobs is important for great finishes.
Well done yet again Janome.

My first DUD Janome – I have had two Janomes, one I still have - the 6670 - but I bought the 7700 because it was bigger and it did more. Turned out to be a complete dud - doesn't like to sew over the thinnest of nested seams, bogs down into the feed dogs excessively, and the embroidery stitches shown on it's lid sew out looking nothing like they should. I am now looking for something to replace the 7700 as I reverted back to the 6670 which is thoroughly reliable and sews beautifully - but I want more. Too scared to buy one though in case I get another dud. The Janome machines have been put out in quick succession of late - which is worrisome. I need some re-assurance now.
Just a great machine – I own a few different brand machines but janome are my favourite I have this machine set up and ready to go all the time It handles all jobs great and handles large quilts like a dream I love all the features and the quilt stitches that this machine can do Well worth the money I just love this machine Reliable, large working area

It went away again for service, was gone 3 weeks, I had to use my little old machine, it works better than this one. I got this back, and they had to replace a lot of the electronics, luckily under warranty. All this trouble and I've only had it for 18 months. Thinking of trading it in, and i'd never get one with the auto plate convertor.
