Love my MC3500 – Ive had this machine for 21 years now and I get it serviced regularly The needle threader goes out of whack occasionally, from misuse no doubt but can be easily fixed. I recently had trouble with it fraying threads. The technician filed off a bur and adjusted the bobbin case and she's all sweet again. Beautiful automatic button holes. She always… Read more
does what I ask of her. I mostly sew clothes. I have bought extra feet, which extends the basic functions.
An easy to use machine – Bought this preloved machine and had it serviced. So far so good. Most advanced machine I have ever used and it sews well and it is a pleasure to use. A walking foot makes sewing thicker layers or slippery fabrics easier. The ability to go slow or fast makes for a more accurate result. Very happy with how it sews and stitch number 16 combined… Read more
with overedge foot make beautifully finished seam edges that are neat and sit flat. Almost as nice as an overlocked edge but it takes longer.
It can use a double needle. The decorative stitches can be programmed to sew in the order of your choice to make customised repetitions.
The mechanism to lower the feed dogs is not obvious but it is there!
The only cons are: 1. The thread seems to function better when the spool is placed onto a stand alone thread stand especially if using older spools which are wound onto the spool differently to today.
2. It is not a heavy duty machine. It sews light to medium duty very well. Heavier work requires a slower speed and a walking foot. The foot does not fit a lot of thickness under it but is sufficient for many sewing projects.
Warning: do not pull out that red felty stuff in the bobbin area when cleaning thinking it is compacted fluff. That is the bobbin wick.
A good reason to drink! – I was given this nightmare from my kids for mothers day. I never had time to use it until i finished work 3 years later. Well.... if you arent rethreading it every 4 inches of sewing you have to keep going over what you have sewed 3 times. Or you have to pull your finished line of sewing to smooth out the puckering and then once again you are left… Read more
with unsewed gaps because it snaps. I have had it looked at twice by so called experts but no change. So my new machine still sits there and i have to pack up my stuff to go and use my friends machine so my kids aren't embarrassed about their purchase.
janome 6500 – It has been a perfect machine until tonight...letters are not printing right...used this for quilting for many years...keep it cleaned...serviced..only one place needs oil..center of the bobbin well...Would absolutely buy again. Show details · 1
A mighty machine – I have sewn everything from dresses to horse blankets. It can sew through multiple layers. It does have a few quirks like the foot getting stuck. Just needs to be blown out. As I use this machine regularly I service it myself at the beginning of a new project and every year send it off to the mechanic. The needle threader broke within it it’s… Read more
first year of use and it really never worked that well unfortunately.
I have used most of the stitches and accessories for this machine, the only one I found didn’t work well was the buttonhole attachment. But it was probably my fault.
Overall it’s a good machine, very easy for beginners.
excellent machine – I have owned this machine for approx 11 years. I use it regularly - I sew all different types of fabrics and have had no issues. I have only just had it's first service about 6 months ago(as I could not bare to be without a machine), and only then as it was starting to make a bit of noise. After that is back to being a quite, and efficient machine. very easy to use Show 2 replies
Great work horse – Love the machine I have sewed and sewed and no real problems. The one annoying thing is the foot control gets stuck, but a clean out to remove dust generally fixes that. I quilt, repair clothing and other items with no worries. When purchased [name removed] at Kings Park was very helpful, but thanks to Narelle for recommending the machine. Price and it is reliable Foot control sticks
