Jaycar SHD Car Dash Camera with Rear Camera QV3849

NEXTTECH Dash Camera- internal Li Po battery is the weak link – After a accident, I procured a NEXTECH 2K GPS Dash Camera with rear ( cube) camera. Previously I used a NEXTTECH 1080p GPS Dash Camera- but found after about 10 months the internal Lithium battery progressively lost capacity(voltage) until the camera continuously reset and became useable. JayCar replace it since I like the camera. Then again after about the same time it progressive became unusable again due to the internal Lithium progressively becoming low capacity again. Jaycar replace it again- then after several more months the third camera also went the same way. This time I was happy to retire the NEXTTECH 1080p GPS Dash Camera- about 2 half years at $150. Good Value overall excluding the messing around.

In December 2023 I bought a more expensive ( $309). NEXTECH 2K GPS Dash Camera with rear ( cube) camera. It is now May 2024- and it too is now giving erratic behaviors and the Lithium internal battery is progressive becoming the internal weak link again. Jaycar are going to replace it again, but this is a much more expensive camera ( $309). Friends have purchased similar Das Cams online (Chinees Web Site.. very cheap), but when they fail they put up with the loss of the Dash Cam since they were cheap.

Absolutely useless – might as well advertise itself as an expensive mirror ornament. kept freezing up on me and loading up a black screen. thought it might be a fault with the memory card, so i got a new top model memory card. at least the screen/recording didn't freeze up (most of the time). of course, eventually, i wanted to upload some videos to my laptop... except, every video file was corrupt. the thumbnails were ok, and some of the videos went on for about 10-20 seconds... but the majority of the videos were just unable to show. even when trying to play videos on the camera itself, the thumbnail shows a video, but the video is just blank.

One out of two aint good? – Bought two - one very happy with. 2nd badly out of focus and faulty power cable wont turn on without button. parkingmode useless as batteries go flat instantly. Replaced 2nd under warranty. Replacement works ok. Jaycar good to deal with, but worried about the failure rate. Parking mode just doesnt work. Batteries die and the whack it needs to record is too much so touches and scrapes wont register. Need to really hit it hard

Parking mode was an important feature for me. Also note rear camera is only VGA and cant read a plate at any distance.
