Great vintage camper. Love it. Under canvass and off ground – Always something to tinker with, but bought it in all original state with little wear and tear. When I over wound the roof it was pretty easy to get in and fix cables. As the old canvass ages or is abused it seems still to stitch up, like screens do. Sure it takes a bit to rig the full annex and over bed extra shades, but they are not needed for… Read more

a quick stop.

Easy to modify, like adding solar, an induction cook top from ikea ($60) and stuff like that.

Couldn’t be happier. I remember the cool family in our mob having one way back around 1980.

Only the bling has really changed. Recommend well treated, no rust version like this if you can find one.

Tows a treat especially if packed up to good balance (ie poles & heavy parts to the back and either full or empty water).

Con. Cheesy and won’t impress your mates

Pro Less likely to be stolen or looted.

Con. Thin mattress, but I use a topper on it ( that packs in easily, so no prob.

Pro Pretty bombproof with lively kids.

Poor design and workman ship – If you own a Jayco camper, before you go on holiday, get the wind up system checked. The way the system is thrown together is terrible, make sure the push rod guide tube is bolted through the floor and not just screwed, the screws will break, the thin tube will bend and the spring will pop out, end of your holiday, 4 to 12 weeks wait for parts. Show details

Quality and functionality – This is the best midlife purchase I've ever made. Fantastic customer service and after sales support. The quality and attention to detail has far exceeded my expectations. I wish we had of purchased the jayco Hawke when my children were smaller but still the four of us find this model to be very spacious. I love it.

Perfect van to tow in all facets of conditions – Bought a Outback Jayco Hawk in Nov 2015. Just retuned from a 5 week holiday to the tip of Cape York. Being our 3rd Jayco van this surprised us with the suspension in corrigations, water, sand and bull dust. Retuned with no damage and absolute minimal dust inside. Well done Jayco

Why can we not have water! – Purchased our Hawk from dealer (used) and took it away. Plugged the hose in only to find a fountain spurting out the connection. Easy fix? We though so as we purchased a Jayco hose connection. Away we went. Next time...another trip with same problems with NO RUNNING WATER !. Back to Jayco and purchased complete new fittings. Now I've been away for 3 months in it with NO WATER. Jayco...not worth a u know what of cold water!

Love our Jayco Hawk – We purchased our Jayco Hawk Outback in Nov. 2015. We love our camper. Easy to tow. Set up takes around 15mins. Roomy, with plenty seating. For the price it is excellent value.

Don't buy a Jayco!!!! – 2 years of problems: 8 months in shop, problems included: 3 refrigerator repairs, microwave stopped working, 2 furnace repairs, water siphoning out of tank, LP gas leaks, slide out repair, cabinet doors fell off, shower door leaks, Velcro tears on all 6 couch/table cushions, inline fuses continually blowing, frame rusting, finish paneling… Read more

detaching and several securing screws coming off because of no backing- long delays with repairs because of no parts availability.

Jayco hawk outback 2013 – Just purchased a outback hawk 2013, what a great camper, very happy with this camper as its the 4 th ive owned now and very happy with all of them, have done a few modifications just to suit myself and madecsome additions, no issues with the van but i few small things like the charging system for the battery would do better with something like a… Read more

ctek charger, a fridge fan just to help the 3 way fridge cope on hot days, and the 3 way lowboy pump taps are crap( not a jayco product) find a better replacement for these and basically you have a magic camper at a very good price, check out what else is on the market , there isnt much else in this price range thats suits most peopke, have found jayco to be very helpfull with all the campers ive owned so will upgrade again one day to another one!

10 years with a jayco hawk outback – after 10 years we are about to upgrade from our 2005 hawk outback to a new Flamingo Outback. We have been a lot of times as a 2 + 1 family on short and long holidays all over Australia . I have also used it for my work as a home and site office . We did modify a couple of cupboards to allow better access for more user friendly storage and fitted… Read more

some canvas flaps over the bed end to stop water wetting the mattress after a wet fold-up but that's about it. Sure we got a bit wet at Cape Trib one Easter and a bit or dust on dirt roads but you will get that no matter what brand camper ,caravan or tent but 15mins after parking up your fully set up .If the new one is as good as the old one I will be a happy man

Not a happy camper – My husband and I purchased a 2013 JAYCO hawk the service dept didn't fit the door correctly. Won't even lock. The roof leaks in several places. We have used that much silicone and it Still leaks. To be honest they are only interested in $$$$$$$$$ especially the first service. They didn't fix any of our problems but were quick to put there hand out for the $300 service fee.

Trouble with clamps – We have a 2012 jayco hawk,we have only put up and down 3 times,we are having trouble with the clamps, very hard to close we were told we could leave bedding on but obviously not. We do have mattress toppers on. Do you have to strip beds everytime you close camper up? We are travelling for 3 months and we had not planned on making beds every day.… Read more ·  2

have had only 1 weekend away in it,and loved it. when packing up excessive strength required to close roof clamps.did not realise awning would take so long to roll up.

2010 jayco hawk – Bought our Hawk new had usual problems in screws coming loose which I replaced with longer ones, dont know why they dont use longer screws at Jayco, took about 4 hours to clean access silicon from a new van (not good), replaced my bag awning with a coolabah rollout awning, what a difference takes about 3 mins to set up and about the same time to… Read more

put away, as apposed to 30 min with a bag awning. Have 5 people in our family 3 kids in teens and we all sleep comfortably well. We use our van about 4 times a year and cover some vast distances with no major problems, overall we are very happy with our Jayco Hawk and will buy another Jayco in future. Easy to tow and store when not in use. Jayco needs to look at quality control

OK – We have had some good holidays in our Hawk and are happy with the lay out and how the unit functions storage space for the size of the unit etc. Would not recommend this type of unit for touring hence our purchase of a pop top. You would make allowances for the build quality if obtaining parts was not such a big deal, but I guess can't expect after… Read more

sales service from a company who are not even interested in selling you a new van in the first place. Purchased a 2007 Hawk in 2010 that had hardly had any use, never had any experience with JAYCO prior to this. Easy to tow, reasonable set up time, good storage space for type and size of RV, JAYCO have not got a clue what customer service is about. December 2010 we went to Nelson Bay area NSW and had a problem with a cable on our Hawk.Propped it up with a broom stick to continue holiday. Rang Jayco Newcastle hoping to drop in on the way home and have the problem rectified and was told the problem would not be able to be looked until end of February 2011, I laughed and told the guy we had another three trips planned before that date, fortunatley I am a fitter by trade and fixed the problem myself when we got home. Build quality is generally very poor, but then thats what my reaserch told me before my purchase would not be so bad if JAYCO reasonable customer service. Trying to buy parts is a nightmare ( with the build quality you will need spares) I tried Newcastle and Sydney with no result in the end out of desperation rang and ordered parts from Melbourne to be told after paying by credit card the parts were week away at the most. Nearly 4 weeks later called JAYCO Melbourne only to be told they had no record of the purchase. The guy I spoke to was extemely rude and spent five minutes telling me all his problems (at my expense of a long distance phone call) about the current factory renovations. 2 hours latter I got a call back stating the order had not been put through no appology or anything. We have now traded the Hawk for a pop top van we purchased at the recent Newcaslte camping show, my wife was keen to look at a JAYCO discovery so we went to the JAYCO stand where the sales reps were rude and non interested so purchased a pop top at the show from a rival company
