Absolute rubbish – The speaker constantly turns itself on and off and the volume down button also turns the speaker on and off so unable to change speaker volume when it is on. Tried factory reset but makes no difference. Can't return as given a JBL Charge 4 as a work bonus. Glad I never paid for it. Show details

Bass overpowers everything, no way to adjust, muddy – If you like music of any subtlety, or anything other than monotonous edm, avoid. The reviews say grand. But all it has going for it is bass. Muddy and awful. Show details

No after market service – I have 3yo JBL Charge 3. Suddenly it stop charging. Contacted their Service Centre to find out where I can go to the get it repaired. I was advised no repair service available. Effectively once the warranty period is expired & if you have an issue just throw it out. The speakers aren't cheap, too expensive to replace every couple of years especially when only used occasionally. Disappointing gone off JBL! Show details

Solid portable speaker Punchy sound – Solid little unit. The sound is great. Doesn’t rattle or sound bad at higher volume like my last portable Bluetooth speaker. I find it sounds great for music. Very punchy, good bass for such a small unit. I don’t enjoy so much for listening to pod casts. I find it lacks a clarity when listening to voices and prefer to use my old TDK unit for that. Show details

a great lifesaver for music with superb portability – 100% recommend this product! It is a good speaker that fills a very specific niche and a long battery span!. Resolution is good, but not great, which is expected for a waterproof and portable speaker in this price range. Overall, a decent device for the price!

Good but needs a microphone – This pumps out good sound. I already had the Flip 4 and wanted to be able to create that stereo sound effect and also be able to have them set up in different rooms so I can walk around the house and still enjoy good music quality. This does have even better sound and battery life than the Flip 4, however it is missing a microphone. The Flip 4 has… Read more

a microphone and it is great when you are listening to music and receive a phone call and can simply answer it using the speaker. The Charge 4 does not have this capability unfortunately. I didn't realise that before purchasing it. Had i realised, I would have just got a second Flip 4...

No durability – After a couple of years wouldn't turn on. Sound was good when it worked but why should it die so early? Really not worth the outlay if it has no staying power.

Great sound but wouldn't work – We borrowed a Charge 4 and found the sound to be awesome! However, I've since bought and returned 3 JBL Charge products in the last 2 months. They all had some sort of fault with the side bass radiators not working on the 1st one, to not charging (the 2nd) or not turning on at all once charged (the 3rd). Very disappointed. Will go for another brand and hope they are more reliable. Show details

Wireless speaker, compact and durable, excellent sound quality – Decided to buy JBL charge 3 and the time making purchase changed my mind to pick Charge 4. No regret for this purchase. Here few pros and cons from my personal usage experience: Pros: - Easily able to connect without trouble - Phone inside house and speaker in backyard, no trouble with streaming music - Perfect for outdoor (dust and water) -… Read more

Charge last longer, event use as power bank

Cons: - Charging cable quality is not great - Music stops during incoming calls (can take call in Charge 3) - Annoying loud start-up and shut-down music

Overall, happy with this purchase.

JBL Charge 4 – Bought this from the good guys. Loud sound, decent weight, it states it will last 20 hours of play after a full charge. I haven't tested it for 20 hours yet, but will during my holidays which is what I bought it for. The bluetooth connection was solid after pairing my phone with it. I didn't hear any glitches, skipping after the speaker was… Read more

connected. It can potentially be the little speaker which starts a party overseas, at get togethers, family gatherings, etc. Product was worth the money.

Hands down, the best Bluetooth speaker of 2019 – I bought this 2 weeks ago and it is the best item I have purchased from JB Hi-Fi. This 2 in 1 Bluetooth speaker is an absolute beast. Here is my full review on the black beauty AKA JBL Charge 4. PROS The Charge 4 can go up to 20 hours of playtime. That’s insane. It also has the IPX7 waterproof rating which allows it to be immersed in water for 30… Read more

minutes at a depth of 1 meter and it functions as a power bank so you never have to worry about your phone dying in the middle of your song. First PRO would be the sound performance was just mind blowing. Every song the charge 4 played was just beautiful, melodic and relaxing. It felt like I was in a different world. Especially when I played rap songs, I got that rich, heart-thumping base and that was so satisfying to watch and listen to. Definitely, the best base I’ve seen in a Bluetooth speaker. Number 2, Phone charging. I was charging my phone and playing music at the same time and it was so convenient. Like I don’t have to worry about my phone battery being low when connecting to this speaker. It was just a great feature to include in the speaker. Number 3, battery life. With the 7500mAh battery, I never have to worry about the speaker’s battery hitting low. To get an amazing battery life in an affordable speaker like this is very rare. So I’m really impressed with the battery life for this speaker.

CONS Number 1: JBL Connect+. Now this is a great feature which allows you to connect up to 100 JBL speakers. However, it doesn’t support the older models such as the JBL Charge 3 and Flip 4 as they have JBL Connect only. Another downside for this speaker was there’s no microphone and speakerphone input. So you can’t accept calls when you’re connected to the speaker which is quite disappointing.

Apart from the pros and cons, this speaker is an absolute beast when it comes to sound performance. If you are looking for an excellent Bluetooth speaker that is water-proof/dust-proof, long lasting battery and has a rich, powerful base, this speaker is the one you are looking for.
