Just the Job – Hi. I bought one of these Flip 5s at Christmas 2021 to use around my home. I have other superior sound systems (they should be a the price!), but I thought this would be the easiest way to listen to music/podcasts. And I liked the portability. BTW, my daughter already had one and she suggested I buy one. It appears to be of sound quality and was well packaged. The sound is not as good as my other systems; however, it's not bad at all - quite good actually. The strength is that I can very quickly connect to my mobile phone and take the speaker with me - anywhere. It's that simple. The Bluetooth range is extremely good. I have now used it for just on 3 months and I am still satisfied with my purchase. The rechargeable battery seems to last forever! Forever! My daughter connected my speaker to her device along with her Flip 5. She was so impressed with the improvement in the quality that she bought another two (one for her partner) that day. She mostly uses one and connects an additional one (maybe two) when she wants more than good background sound. On my experience, I would highly recommend the speaker ... or two. Cheers, Bill.

Rubbish, dont buy from JBL! – I purchased a JBL flip 5 just over a year ago and it stopped working last week, wouldnt turn on, wouldnt charge, nothing. I took it back to JB Hi-Fi where i bought it and discovered that it was JUST out of its year warranty period by literally 13 days. I never miss-treated it never dropped it or anything like that. This tells me that this company (JBL) must design their products to last their warranty period and then they fall apart! -Very dissapointed.
Purchased in at JB Hi-Fi Retail Stores for $170.
Well made and cool colours, Sound is good. But only has one speaker inside – I have a charge 3 and like it so I purchased a Flip 5 Recently and, the main negatives I wish I researched before my purchase are. 1. Its Mono only has one speaker in the left side of the tube. 2.The JBL party boost mode to connect multiple speakers does not work with the JBL connect on my charge 3 and there is no way to upgrade it. So I can not use the speakers together. If i had known this I may have purchased another brand or older model. The positives. It does sound good for its size considering the single speaker set up and comes in many colours and has solid build quality. It also has USB C much better than Micro USB.
I hope JBL release a firmware upgrade that allows older speakers to connect to each other rather than using built in obsolescence to increase sales. If they do I will change my review.
Purchased in for $150.
