half of our 18 square house. Can get a tiny bit of smoke when reloading but really no trouble. Very well constructed too. Took about 12 months to psyche myself into a major reconstruction of our fireplace but well worth the trouble!

in heat output and we only burn well seasoned red-gum or Mallee-Roots, checked with a moisture meter. We have it installed in a 100m/2 family room and the the heat was so good, I installed a heat transfer system to take excess heat to an adjacent room. A good sized Mallee-Root will slow burn overnight burn for excess of 10 hours. We never had that with our older heater. I love the TILGA But................ I was getting very localised severe glass blackening on the glass around the door which was a result of a 2mm gap on the door plate welding the door not sealing around the glass. The door was recently replaced under warranty and the localised blackening improved. But............. After a slow overnight burn, and after cleaning the NEW door, half the door is almost completely black and I cant see through it. This happens on a daily basis. On closer inspection I have noticed that when I close the door by hand, the top right corner makes contact but there is a 4mm gap at the bottom. When the latch/handle is engaged, it pulls the top tight but there is still a small 1mm gap at the bottom between the rope and the fire box resulting in air coming in and causing excess air entering behind the glass and causing the glass to blacken. Obviously there is a misalignment of the new door. I'm an engineer and trades-person and I am tempted to pack to the top with washers but as its under warranty, I wont play with it. I understand that slow burns cause discolouration and I'm not overly concerned with darkened glass but I never had an issue with my older Regency and cleaned the glass maybe 5 times a season. I am now cleaning the glass EVERY day or else I cant see through it.
I Love the TILGA, I really do, the heat output is fantastic BUT is that worth all the extra effort of cleaning it daily. I don't think so as I have to let the fire go out to clean the door and that means relighting it and the house getting colder in the process.
To add to my frustration, The roll pin holding the door latch was squashed by the action of closing the door causing the fire box latch to fall off. That too was replaced under warranty. When I received the new door I cut my hand on sharp burrs in the door handle, clearly a machining issue and so easily solved through Quality Control. I think the Jindara Quality control process needs a lot of improvement.
I will be contacting the supplier AGAIN to get some help.
Heats well but smokes the room out – Bought new Grange Freestanding March 22, to replace ageing Coonara. Have had two wood combustion heaters for 30 years - no such smoke problems previously. Smoke billows out whenever the door is opened is a significant problem as it leaves a layer of ash on skirtings and is unhealthy. I have contacted the retailer- no assistance. Very helpful – We had the Grange model wood fire and had a bit of trouble with ash and smoke filling our house. I contacted Jindara and Mogan Gason was very quick to respond to my email. higher KW. rating than the Heatcharm and this is proven by how little we use the other heater. The fan has 3 speeds and can move a lot of air compared to other heaters, but , at speeds higher than 1 is noisier than the Heatcharm, trade off between between air movement and noise I guess! The fan can be selected to start/stop on firebox temperature. At night I leave the fan running and it automatically shuts down when the firebox cools. Seems to burn less wood than the Heatcharm for a higher heat output, but I admit this is purely subjective. The heater smokes into the room when adding wood. It is the same as the Heatcharm in this respect. I have added an extra length of flue, but this has not reduced the problem. The second heater I have is an old Meridian inbuilt that opens a clear path to the flue when the door is opened. It does not smoke into the room under any conditions. Perhaps Jindara should consider this on any new version of the Grange. The large glass door requires cleaning on a regular basis, even if the heater has run hard for a day or so.
Would I buy another another one? On balance I would, simply because it produces so much heat, and moves it with such a strong fan. Also, I have had no maintenance/warranty problems with it..
So simple and effective! – I previously had an open brick fireplace (oversized). I felt like a full time fire feeder! My new fireplace Zero clearance inbuilt Jindara Grange is simply amazing. melt on speed 2/3. Actually heats the whole house. The brown residue on glass is so easy to clean off, per booklet instructions.
Simply use rag/cloth dipped in water and some fine ash and rub. Do this daily and it’s showroom shine.

construction (it was summer so no worries) they had a modified baffle in construction to fix the issue. They sent a whole new heater and the problem was solved!! Thank you a great company to deal with! Great heater!!
no heat just – my new wood fire wont go unless the door is ajar its always Smokey it is very hard to lite installed by licensed installer I struggle to keep it going changed wood type 3 times the glass is always dirty my house fills with smoke when I open it not happy Show details
Not worth the money – Have had the grange installed in our new house and it fills the house with smoke and ash when you go to put more wood the only time it won’t smoke is when it’s nearly out. Very disappointed as we paid lot of money for Aussie product would not recommend this product to anyone. Show details
grange was junk – Grange professionally installed last year, looked great, hard to light,, smoky, noisy fan. Fire lost interest in actually burning the wood after a few hours and went out. alight. Installer tried everything, even brought his own kindling, took parts out, put parts in, extended chimney, you name it, he tried it. He gave up, returned it to Jindara. He installed a Pacific Neo, works perfectly, easy to light, plenty of heat and burn time
Heats well but has a few issues – First off this fire does heat the house very well. We have a 31sq home and its always warm now. We had the option to get the fire in a different color to match our furniture so we chose black. bought it from come out and have a look and they said it was not prepared well enough for the paint job. We are going to get it resprayed in the off season at no cost to us.
Apart from that issue, another issue is the smoke and ash when you open the door. I have had plenty of fires over my time but this is by far the worst as far as the ash all over the house.
It also burns the wood very quickly and my installer showed me where the air holes are and he even said there was way too much air going in but you cannot alter it otherwise the warranty is voided.
Time will tell after it gets resprayed if the issue happens again with the peeling and if it does it is going straight back for a refund.

Jindara Grange / Eureka Ruby – I looked around for a wood heater for months. Did lots of research. Finally on the recommendation of the wood heater experts we went with the Jindara Grange Module. im sure it would be much better with proper redgum. Solid flue option looks great and company and installation was excellent and i would recommend to anyone.
(june/july 2017) We have now had the heater going on cold Melbourne nights. My best burn time so far was about 12 hours with lots of coals left to reignite the fire. Very happy with the purchase.
