We love our Pacific Energy Neo 2.5.
We kept our fire going 24/7 during winter and were very pleased with our Neo 2.5.
Purchased in at Pivot Stove & Heating for $4,800.

great but noisy
(1) excellent efficiency in terms of heat produced relative to wood put in; room size is 180 m^3 (3 m high ceiling) and it easily heats this space and more (2) heat output is greater with fan on low setting - higher fan setting is too noisy (3) something inside the unit makes a lot of annoying sporadic expansion-type noise (clanging) which never goes away during the burn - we had a part replaced (something to do with the baffle system?) which resulted in marginal improvement. Price given is for the heater including panels and fan, i.e. total system in respect to the box (not including the flue and installation)

Has design issues
In our 3rd winter & have always had issues with creasote building up in the flue then falling down on top of the baffle blocking the flue. We purchased a fully insulated flue kit for $2200 after the salesman recommended it & I don’t think it gets hot enough to keep its self clean. It’s a bugger of a job to take out baffle & clean every 2 to 4 weeks. We only use 40 year old seasoned yellow box with a moisture content under 8. Never had this problem with our diamond built by Gason in the 15 years we used it & we have never used this much wood. Wo

Good but not perfect.
Into our second winter in SW Victoria with our NEO 2.5. Runs really well, heats our large area and burns well overnight (8 hours) with no issues. The glass does tend to get dirty, but biggest issue is the noise of the fan. On the low setting it often increases in volume so much we have to turn it off to hear the TV. Can never use the high setting. The fan was an extra $470 so it's disappointing it's so noisy (despite regular cleaning).
Purchased in at Barbeques Galore for $5,000.

Think twice
Heats the space well but every time I open the door smoke and ash float out. We extended our chimney etc. It gives me a headache, and makes the room dirty.

Fans rattle and vibrate... ALOT!
Im into my third burning season with this stove and I have a few complaints.
1 the fans rattle and vibrate obnoxiously loud. Can't stress that enough. The manufacturer is well aware and has no intentions of fixing the issue. They told me to buy new blower motors, I did and there literally no better. Also had the installers come back a few times they said pretty much nothing they can do about it and that there not going to carry this model anymore because of all the complaints. Im consisntly taking the surrounding off to jam wedges in dif

Also the thermostat function is a joke to say the least. 2 my house is just under 1200sqft and I have to absolutely pack this with wood 100% of the time to keep the house above 66-67 degrees F. I burning about 10 cords a winter (all seasoned hard wood, lot of aok, maple and ash). That's alot more than I'm used to. The heat inside the box compared to what comes out of the blowers just dosent add up I'm my opinion. 3 over night burns only last about 5 hours, so I have to wake extra early to get it going before the furnace kicks on. 4 when you open the door smoke leaks in the house, I know alot of stoves/inserts ect have this tendency and you just crack the door for a second to change the draft. But this stove always does it so I have to try to get prepped and load this thing as fast as possible. That all said it gets the job done but after paying a little of 7k for the unit and installation I'm really not that happy with it. 100% would not buy again or recommend.Purchased in .

Amazing heater ♥️
After UTTER dissapointment buying a different wood heater, we decided to cut our losses and buy a Neo 2.5. In June 2022. Has been installed for about a month now.
It is the best wood heater ever. It is solid and well made. We have the fan installed. It is great to give a heat boost when more heat is needed.
Ignites wood easily, even when coals are low.
Very easy to control the heat out put. We easily get an eight hour shut down burn.
The door handle is sturdy and easy to open and shut. Not having to stoop to the floor to load the wood is so easy.
Lovely cosy, enveloping heat. Heats our house easily.
Love it!!!!!!!

Great heater
The heater draws well, it can be easily adjusted to burn more quickly. Love the height of the heater base with a wood storage space underneath .... can kneel down to load and turn wood so old creaky knees aren’t too stretched to get up from a lower position or have to bend over to feed the fire. Ash collection tray works well and cleanly. Heater gives out good heat and when turned down will burn all night and fire up easily in the morning. Adding the fan package is much recommended. Replacement parts (door sealing rope and glue esp) are easy to get and allow DIY replacement annually. The coloured side panels look good and keep the sides of the heater relatively cool. A heater cage with front opening door is also a very good idea.

Perfect in looks and performance
Purchased a Neo 1.6 for my.front lounge having never had a wood burner previously.
The burner is superb, it looks absolutely stunning, the burner itself burns amazingly, the wood seems to burn long and hot but I have no there experience to relate to. I burn Jarra in there only, have the double lined flue and it has to be one of the best purchases I have ever made. You will not be disappointed. I do not have the built in fan, but don't feel I need one. My furry friends love it!!!

Heats well. Has some problems.
Have had the Neo 2.5 in use for about a month now. I have the optional fan. The heater generates a good amount of heat. Keeps the place warm. It's gets to low of 0c at night in winter here. The Neo burns the wood very well. There is very little ash left. Lighting is easy (thankfully as it needs relighting every morning). The heater absolutely chews through the wood. I was led to believe it would reduce my fuel usage from my previous 25 yr old ultimate wood heater. Not a chance. Uses a good 30% more. But it does throw out more heat than the ult

The optional fan was great for a week. The auto thermostat control was great. But after a week it stopped functioning well. Fan will come on for 5 seconds, then off for 20 seconds. When the firebox is very hot it should be on pretty much continuously. Doesn't matter what temperature the firebox is. The fan just comes on and off the same. And the fan noise. Wow. Impossible to use on high. It's louder than a vacuum. On low there is a loud whine that has developed, on top of the fan noise. Annoying is an understatement. The whine will occasionally stop, then start again. It's not vibration of the fan as it continues when I hold the fan. All this was coupled with missing parts on delivery and a totally disinterested retailer. (The distributor was more proactive than the retailer). I really wouldn't recommend this heater unfortunately. It has so much potential but is let down by quite a few issues.Purchased in .

Brilliant heater in every way
We are on our second Canberra winter using the NEO 2.5. House is only 138m2 internal and it easily heats all spaces. It’s pretty central. Main room will get to 24degrees C when running it filled with wood on low. We regulate with windows or exposed glass as required. Lots of people on here saying they don’t get long burns, our experience shows that if we fill it to the brim with wood and roar it up so it’s in the hot range (I use a Optimser by Condar stove thermometer) and all wood is charred off, and then we close damper to lowest position, it

We using a SS ceramic insulated flu, it’s extra long as we had 4 bends in the roof to navigate. Fire draws really nice. Lots of clicking on heavy heating or cooling of its 300KG mass, seems like normal physics to me. I didn’t get the fan, as didn’t want the noise and no regreats there as not needed for our size house. Heat spreads fine without it. Don’t want bedrooms too hot anyways as sleep better when it’s slightly cooler in those rooms. I cleaned flu in summer with a drill whipper, maybe collected 3 cup fulls of creosote. Not much in my thoughts but no past experience to share there. Generally have to empty the ash by scooping directly from firebox (quick and easy) once every 2 months, it burns that efficiently. Use on garden beds and it’s good stuff. Used about 2-3 tonne wood last year but didn’t burn through nights often. I’m stocked with 5 tonne this year and doing more night burns but not sure if it’ll all be used.Purchased in .
Don't buy if using Australian hard wood
After owning this 2.5, in built, for 4 years we we have gone through 2 baffle plates plus now everything inside is burnt out. Pacific Energy will make any excuse to get out of the warranty except saying it will last longer if you don,t have a fire going it. It does burn well when every thing is working.
My past log heater lasted over 30yrs with no problems. We moved house hence the new heater.

Im on my 4th winter and we have issues..
Im on my 4th winter with this stove and we have had some issues. As noted by many others the glass gets dirty real fast. I use a cleaner before lighting every fire but that also tends to ruin the door gasket prematurely. That issue... i can live with. My more serious problem is that i have had many fires run-away on me, most recently last night again. Before bed i put on a large peice on a bed of coals, not propped up but flat on coals. I set the draft as low as it goes. An hour later i wakeup to a burning smell. The fire box looks like a bomb

I know that its creosote burning from above the baffle. I burn seasoned wood but because the stove doenst burn through the night i end up with creosote from the low temps of night burning. The second part of this issue is that my draft seems to be malfunctioning. When this issue happen i find slamming the draft fully closed 2 or 3 times seems to finally get the fire under control. Like maybe it didn't close fully the fisrt time? Either way I have found the stove VERY temperamental. I have invested in a digital firebox monitor that will alarm when the box over-fires . My stove was professionally installed and i pain over $7k all in. I have not been satisfied with the investment. PE is a great brand but Im concerned I may have a defective unit. I will be having the service techs out... again.Purchased in for $7,000.

Temperature is so consistant
I have a pretty large house and this wood stove work so well even at -25°c. This is my main source of heat and i use it 24/7 during winter time. Before i purchased this woodstove I had and old wood stove and there is no comparaison. The Neo 2.5 produce a much more confortable linear heat.It can last about 12hours on the lower setting, i only have to add some wood in the morning and it catch fire again. The fan is a MUST! It spread the heat so much you can't even compare!
I load my wood front to back so 16 inches log is perfect.

Best heater ever
We did a lot of research and was going to buy an Australian premium brand but have had past problems in other houses so decided that, being a cold person who loves being warm to go with this Canadian bad boy! No regrets, despite it being a big purchase cost wise I have loved every day of winter with this. I can even have blinds up and see outside and still be incredibly cosy, which I love instead of having to keep the house closed down for heat purposes. Temps down to -2 here but our house is always toasty and it burns overnight, every night. L

It looks beautiful and you can’t compare sitting in front of a crackling fire at night with standard electric heating! We also used two heat transfers to pump air cheaply through to two other areas because the heater has so much love to give!Purchased in at Shepparton.

Questions & Answers
Hi all. We installed this in our large open plan room in Hobart (when we lived there) and it heated the house exceptionally well (loved it) and although burned down after around 10 hours was easy enough to kick up first thing. However the biggest and only issue we had (and the one that’s stopping me considering it for our new home) was with the ash dump.
After the first few months it wouldn’t open easily or it wouldn’t close (sometimes locked open without you noticing) unless you really pulled at it and let go to force it to slam shut. The result of that is it drew too much air in and created a random intense super burn which basically was uncontrollable. Absolutely terrifying. Has anyone else experienced that issue?
We blocked the ash dump up a while ago with another brick and just use a little shovel to get the ash out. Haven't had an issue since but yes, it's a poor design fault and a bit dangerous.
Good to know. I was beginning to think it was just me with this issue. Absolutely terrifying when it kicks off! Definitely a poor design (in theory it would be fabulous if it worked) however your resolution sounds perfect. Thanks
Has anyone else had the baffle plate burn out on them. I've done one after just one winter. Terrible quality for the price you pay.
Hey I’ve seen some questions around overnight burning. We turn the damper right down to the lowest setting possible and you can still see flames. Is that right? When we got the item last year we were told that it should burn for 12 hours but I found myself getting up at 3-4am to put more wood on to make sure it was still going in the morning. Is there a trick to getting the 12 hour burn?
Best i have ever got was maybe 8 hours. For me the best results come from a decent bed of coals, rack them toward the front, then stacking some larger pieces from front to back. Damper I put about 85% closed because I find at all the way closed I have alot of unburned coals in the morning, and the creosote would build up really quickly. Type of wood can make alot if difference as well. But really the best advise is to just experiment with small adjustments and find what works best for you.
Thanks for the advice Rick. I will give that a shot was just conscious of it burning to quickly at 85% but that might be the sweet spot. I’m yet to hear from anyone that can get the 12 hour burn that the company boasts about.
Wow 16 hours, thats amazing. How many logs/ what sizes are going in to make it burn continuously. What do you find about it that is garbage?
We get 7hours max. Pretty dissapointing when the fire is dead as dead can be every cold morning. I have a fresh air intake, thought maybe that was causing more air flow. Ill be contacting the manufacturer today. Love the fire place but thats not cool.
Cheers
Haven't yet managed a 12 hour burn but definitely having a good bed of coals helps keep it warm so you can easily get it going again in the morning.
