This is a very good lawn mower – This mower will not affect my mowing efficiency, but it will also greatly improve my work efficiency. The mower is so simple to operate and maintain that if you have both hands you can maintain it regularly. I feel that it is very convenient to use and the vibration is not great. X500 models manufactured in 2014. Check the PIN (product identification number) on the front left hand side chassis of the machine and then check with John Deere Australia (AU Freecall: 1800 800 981) that the correct Operators Manual has been issued by the dealer. The difference between the Operators Manuals is the types of transmission oil that can be used - only John Deere Low Viscosity Hy-Gard (JD20D) can be used in the earlier 2014 Operators Manual. The later 2014 Operators Manual specifies John Deere Hy-Gard (JD20C) transmission oil or John Deere Low Viscosity Hy-Gard (JD20D). Critical that owners check because affects the warranty for the transmission.

Cuts Irregular – I was sold on John Deere. But for the past three years the 54" machine has been back to the dealer two to three times each mowing season to adjust the deck. check with JD and still no answer. I have asked to replace the deck and see if that is the problems, but of course that has not happened. At the end of this summer if it is not corrected and running properly, I will get rid of this machine. After paying $5000+, I expected more from the product and the dealership.

It has a 26Hp Kawasaki twin engine that is superb - smooth, reasonably quiet but boy does it have some grunt. And the deck has a higher capacity than the 100 series Edge decks and has much heavier blades. It has a through the deck level adjustment that make it so easy to adjust. And the tractor, with diff lock when needed, is even better than the LX280 to drive. It is smooth, the steering is easy and infact has more turn than the old LX280, and the auto gear box is a pleasure to drive.

I would recommend this tractor to anybody - and I know. I have a 55hp tractor with a 6' HD slasher for the paddocks, but this is almost as capable - well it is certainly more fun!!

And as an add on - I am putting Gator G6 mulching blades on it, a fixed Bumper, and a LED reversing flood light to complete the package.

If you want the best, and aren't into those zero turn toys, this is about as good as it gets.
