Worsen eczema – After using the oil, it had just worsen my toddler’s eczema. She hasn’t had eczema for a few months, tried the oil again... next day eczema in various places all over her body. Would not recommend for sensitive skin. Show details
Rashes everywhere – My bub has developed clogged pores and rashes after using this. I have been using a different massage oil for my bub before and there was no problem. My hubby bought this Johnson's baby oil and I tried using it on him, that's when my bub had a breakout. This is not a good product to be used if your bub has a sensitive skin. Show details
This oil left a whole body rash on my baby girl – I tried alot of oils. But none of them took me to worry. This Johnson and Johnson baby massage oil left a small dotted rash overall on my baby's soft skin. She felt very irritating all the day and night. It was all fine when I tested it on her leg before applying it all over . I found the rash every where on body the very next day when I took her to bath. This is the third day and I hope she feels better soon. Show details

i always buy the full-sized bottle – the oil is awesome, it makes my baby's skin supple and smooth just more lovely for mommy and baby snuggle time! it's scent is not overpowerin and everytime I massage this to the bub, i can feel that he loves the feeling it gives to him. Can i also mention that it helps him fall asleep faster?

Sweet smell – This oil is perfect for little babies as its gentle with very light fragrance. It readily absorbs into the skin and dont leave any stickiness on the skin.gentle massage on babies skin leave their skin soft with a very sweet fragrance. I think Anyone can use it from little ones to young ones.

My baby had a very bad reaction – My baby developed a nasty red rash overnight after using Johnson’s baby oil. His skin seemed dry after his bath so I rubbed it on his stomach, legs and arms which is where the reaction occurred. It was definitely from the oil as his back was fine. He was grizzly and hard to put to sleep after I had used it but I didn’t realise that something was… Read more
bothering him until I saw the rash in the morning. He may have sensitive skin but this oil certainly caused his discomfort and caused the rash.
Terrible – Don't even bother buying this stuff. A cream moisturiser is much nicer to apply and doesn't leave the baby's skin feeling so slippery. I have no idea why this product is even still on the market! I can't really think of anything I like about this product. It seems to be useless and an outdated product. People always give it at baby showers and I… Read more
must have received about 5 bottles, only to have them sit unused on the shelf for years. The one with the pink lid is a bit smelly, in my opinion. This stuff just goes everywhere when you try to get it out of the bottle and is a nightmare if you spill it.
Bad – We keep a bottle of this oil in the house but certainly not for the purpose it was designed for. I would never put this on my baby or have it in a nursery. There have been babies who have died inhaling this product as the cap is totally not child proof. I do find it useful for removing excess wax or sticky substances/residues left on hard… Read more
surfaces. It is useful to remove sticky substances and wax left over from waxing body hair It is NOT good for what it is designed for. It is mineral oil and clogs a babies natural skin. It is also highly dangerous if inhaled by babies and does not come with a child safe lock.
i agree!
why would you want to put something made from petrol on your baby?

This is perfect – This product will be perfect for your everyday "pretending im a slug" needs. Never felt more slug. Perfect amount for a single use for me, and I'm a big guy so most people could probably get away with using half! A six pack of these would set me up for a full week. Show reply
Classic Choice – It wouldn't be around for so long if it isn't effective. Aside from using it for my darling's dry scalp and feet, I also use it for other home use. I use it for dry patches on the skin and works wonders in moisturizing the dry spots. The smell is mild enough and won't bother those sensitive to perfumes. The oil is not too dense to cause severe oiliness as it is very light to the skin. Just apply a few drops and it will do wonders to dry skin.
Terrible – This product isn't really recommend for use with babies and therefore I do not rate it highly. If you do need a mineral-based oil then there are much cheaper homebrand alternatives available. However, health nurses all recommended olive oil or other plantpbased oils for massaging into babies' skins. I think this product relies on its trusted… Read more
well-known brand and would not recommend it. OK as a basic oil It is a mineral-based oil, not a plant-based oil (eg olive, almond) and therefore it is not recommend for use with babies, it is also expensive for what it is
it should NOT be called baby oil as it is toxic and, as you said, shouldn't be used on babies
OK – We use this occaisionally when baby has dry skin. We prefer to use moisturisers instead of the oil. However the early childhood nurse did tell me omce that oil was better than moisturiser? - however I didn't listen to a word she said as most of it is rubbish I have found by experience ! This is good as a massage oil. I hadn't heard or read about… Read more
the inhaling issues as per some of the other posts but it sounds like a bit of a worry?
It gets all over the bottle which makes it hard to handle the next time you use it.
you are better off using a natural oil from a plant than oil made from petrol

on his head when he shaves and keeps hi shead moistursed, smells devine, so nice for the skin whether its for mum dad or baby its an all round great family product that is so cheap there are no cons
Good – I can only say this has been around for years and i trukly love it. You can pop a bit in the bath, you can use it on dry skin, there are so many uses for it as well as for baby. It leaves yor skin soft and yet again less is best with this one. Once again a money saver as you only need a small amount of baby Oil. Its great for a massage and great… Read more
for giving bub a massage also. I think it is fair in price considering less is best, and the smell I havent met anyone that doesnt like it. It has more uses than baby alone, and easy to obtain in the supermarket. A good buy. I love the smell of this baby oil.
Terrible – I will not be using Johnsons Baby Oil again on my baby as it did not improve her dry skin but only made things worse. I found this a shame as I enjoyed massageing my babies skin with this oil as it was very soothing for her. Well known brand, easy to find in most stores, can be added to babies bath or massaged directly onto babies skin. This… Read more
product is suposed to help a babies dry skin unfortunatly I found this product makes my childs dry skin worse. I found that my own hands have developed dry patches after using this oil on my baby.
Bad – will continue to use on my son as it feels nice on my hands afterwoods aswell but wouldnt buy myself as its overpriced product that has so many others that are similar bottle is a good size for everyday use and having around baby much more expensive than a homebrand when it does the same label is unreadable once oil gets on it and whole bottle is very slippery
Excellent – i love to use it as massage oil. it is absorbed quickly and doesn't leave any greasy feeling at all. it is cheap and effective. i use it as body oil too because it is moisturising. the smell is lovely and relexing. it is moisturising and absorbed quickly. the smell is nice too. i can't think of any. but i hope it can be available in larger size.
Good – I have been using this oil for the past 10 years and the results are great.I'm allergic to coconut products hence go for this oil for my body massages.I even use this on my hair before ironing and it comes out nice and silky. Also gentle on babies and not very dense.I have heard many mums talking about allergies it causes esp on the scalp of babies… Read more
but i had no problems with my little one. also i only used 8 drops of oil everytime i give my baby a hair wash. Great for oil massages-not too dense-no strong odour
Terrible – Seemed to be marketed as a soft and gentle baby product, but obviously my baby has particularly sensitive skin which flared up after use of this product. Definately recommend doing a test on a little area of baby skin first. None, only used once and wouldn't use again I used it to rub onto my baby's head to try and clear up her cradle cap which… Read more
was recommended to me by a number of mum's. The next day her cradle cap was gone, but her whole head was red and inflammed and she had scratched her head and there were scabs! Her skin had badly reacted to this product.
Good – This baby oil easily removes all traces of make up with just a tiny bit on a piece of cotton wool or make up removing pads. It is affordable and lasts ages, especially the larger bottles. In the family, I have seen the same bottle of baby oil in the bathroom cupboard for over a year! It certainly does go a long way, however the fact that the… Read more
product is tested on animals stops me from using it, rather using a more animal friendly alternative. Easily removes make up When removing eyeliner, it irritates my eyes and they sometimes go a bit red. Also, Johnson and Johnson test on animals.
Excellent – when my daughter was a baby I would put a squirt of this into her bath every night to help stop her skin from drying out in the cold. she also had very long thick hair from birth and it helped to remove cradle cap from her scalp easily by washing her hair in the water that had it put into. Her delicate skin never reacted to it negatively, it's… Read more
just divine I put this into my daughters bath when it's winter to help stop her skin from drying out. There are no cons for this product, however it did take me a few weeks to work out how to use it properly.

Good – Great product for using in the bath to moisturise your skin. Great for rubbing on dry skin, gentle enough to use on babies. Great make-up remover for getting stubborn eye make-up off. containers easy to use by squeezing. Lasts for many years and is a great product. The greasy feeling that it leaves on your skin and hands, it can take quite a few goes of getting it off. can be frustrating
Good – I have been using this baby oil for years to remove my eye makeup. I dab a bit onto a cotton pad and it easily and completely removes eye makeup. I then cleanse my face as normal and wash the oil residue off. If oil isn’t completely washed off after pores may become clogged over time. Would prefer it to be unscented, so have switched to home… Read more
brand baby oil or coconut oil. Completely removes waterproof eye makeup, small bottle is convenient and doesn’t leak out too much product at once, lasts a very long time Don’t like the scent, wouldn’t use all over face, may not be suitable for sensitive eyes or contact lens wearers
OK – i bought some johnsons baby oil when i had a baby, but found it too be far to oily and didnt absorb very well. actually, plain olive oil was much better for baby massage. my child health nurse also warned me that this product can contribute to problems with eczema, so i decided to discontinue using it. it is fairly cheap to buy. one bottle goes a… Read more
long way. the scent is understated which is nice. i find that this product does not absorb into your skin, or your baby's skin very well, but sits on the top. therefore, doesnt make a very good moisturiser.
Excellent – Johnson's baby oil has been around for many generations and whilst being a well known and bought brand, its not too expensive to buy. We use this oil not only for baby, but also on the whole family. We use it in the bath for relaxation, relaxing massages, body lotion and of couse for baby massages after a long day of exploring to help calm baby.… Read more
This is another great quality product from Johnson's baby range as it is so versitile and handy to use on the whole family whilst not being too expensive for the budget saving families. There is nothing i dislike about this product
Excellent – I find this product can be easily used by adults or kids, nothing really matters what age they are. I usually use as a message oil before a bath. I reckon it has such pure essential oils and has an after fragrance too. It is non greasy and doesnt stick to my clothes. Gets absorbed into the body quickly. The best thing is you get big saver packs… Read more
for this product too and it is easily available in all the major super markets around the country. I simply love this product and reckon should be used by all mums, on them and on their children. Excellent for adults and kids alike Nothing really
Excellent – Johnson's baby oil is a essential item for parents who have babies and little kids. A small amount of this oil on the baby bath will help maintain the natural moisture in babies' skin. A cotton ball soaked with this oil and swab on baby's delicate scalp will help grow the hair stronger and faster and cleanse the scalp with any soap residue. … Read more
This oil is also good for adults as moisturizer, hair and scalp conditioner and even as a make up remover. It is very economical to use. It is a very versatile product. It can be used as skin moisturizer as well as hair conditioner especially for babies. It smells good. Nothing really.
Good – Its a really gentle product that can be used for so many different things. I have used it in baths and as a baby massage oil and I also like to use it as an eye make up remover. Its a bit greasy but it leaves the eye area really nicely moisturised and removes eye make up, even waterproof make up, really well. This product has loads of uses and is… Read more
very handy to keep in the cupboard. I have had the same bottle for ages even though it gets used fairly regularly. Its obviously more expensive than the home brand varieties.
Excellent – I purchased it when I had my baby. It was really good to put a drop in the batch when he had rough skin and crade cap....just be careful as it makes them very slippery! I have only ever used the one bottle and it is still going! I use it after home waxing to get rid of the excess wax...it just comes right off. Could use it for baby massage… Read more
also - but I never thought of it at the time. Made from JOhnson's so you know that you can trust it. Nothing really - can be a bit more expensive than other brands.
Good – An old classic which I still use, not only for my little one but on myself as a treat, it doesn't irritate sensitive skin and keeps dry, even cracked skin soft and moisturised. Can be a little greasy, but that's to be expetced. Smooth, gentle texture, leaves skin feeling soft and silky, easy to dispense, trusted brand with a good product history,… Read more
not only good on the baby, I add a little to my foot spa and it makes my toes really soft! Lasts FOREVER Doesn't absorb straight onto the skin as well as some products, but still gets the job done.
Good – I have been using this product on my dry (eczema) skin for years, usually after a quick shower or bath, i would just rub it in, and wait a few minutes before dressing. now i use it on my baby daughter, probably since she was 2months, it keeps her skin supple and hydrated (especially after a baby bath) as compared to other baby products (even… Read more
"gentle" ones) that have dried out her skin :( . one bottle has lasted me 6months for usage on my baby's skin, whereas i would go through a bottle every 3-4months. I prefer the johnsons light blend baby oil for baby massage. silky and well absorbed price, almost $6 for a bottle- but it does last ages
Bad – I bought this for baby massage or baby bath. I only used it in the bath once as it just sat on top of the water. I didn't like it for massage as while it does feel really silky it doesn't absorb into the skin and I had to give my baby a wash down afterwards which counteracts the relaxing massage. It does have a very silky smooth texture I find… Read more
that instead of being absorbed it sits on the skin so you then have to have a shower to wash it off and have to make sure it doesn't get on anything.
OK – I have this sitting in my drawer but I don't use it very often because I'm put off by the fact it has mineral oil in it. I'm of the opinion that mineral oil isn't the healthiest thing to lather over our precious human skin but it obviously doesn't bother everyone the way that it bothers me. I think it would be handy to use if my hubby gave me a… Read more
