complaint. NEVER EVER AGAIN, cheaper kings product, now we have hot water that flows and hasn't gone through batteries or gas for 8 weeks.

POOR TEMP – In 18 months of ownership, have never been able to get temp above 38c and thats on the lowest water flow (3.5l at shower head) and highest temp, using domestic water source. I thought this was normal till I recently saw a utube review and realised mine is not heating anywhere near what it should be. Going to give smartek ago, hopefully I will have better luck there.

now working perfectly, as it should and it was not the fault of the Hottap, but my Own! It works absolutely flawlessly and I am more than delighted with its performance. Wish I could’ve taken it on my Camping trip, I only have myself to blame. deliberately waited until we've seen both summer and winter performance before writing this review.

We are extremely happy with our shower solution and it makes a massive difference to our ability to stay onsite for extended weekends.

We run the hottap unit from the mains water tap on the property. It takes me and my husband about 10 minutes to put up the tent and get the unit connected to the gas bottle, and a little longer if I'm doing it alone; we pack it all up when we go home to the city. We recommend this as a shower solution for renovators - if there's room to pitch a tent, then you can have that nice hot shower after hard work.

In summer, we are getting steady 48-50 degrees water temperature, and in winter, when it's 5-10 degrees daytime and 0-2 overnight, we are getting average 42-43 degrees. Pressure is always good. The unit doesn't like much wind around it, but we followed online instructions from users plus advice from Joolca, and have fashioned some wind protection to manage this on all but the most windy days.

The winner features for us are:

* Being able to turn on and turn off from inside the tent, means that if the wind does suddenly pick up and blow out the gas, by just turning the water on and off, it lights again. You don't have to get out to deal with it. You don't need help. Brilliant.

* You can get a full long hot shower with a hair wash without feeling pressured for time or having to fiddle with the unit all the time. It just works.

* The shower tent is top quality, well-ventilated and has great waste water distribution, with two good-sized rooms; you have a wet side and a dry side and a zipper in between them. Water doesn't leak anywhere between the two sides or underneath, and there's room to dry off without feeling cramped, then dress and come out fully clothed.

We recommend Joolca and are very glad we chose their products; we've been using our shower solution 5-7 days a month for two years, and it has proven itself as a quality setup that delivers for us in all seasons.

Good unit with a battery problem – Cheap batteries that come with the unit need to be thrown away and decent ones put in. Also, batteries get too low to turn on gas valve, but battery low indicator not sensitive enough to show there's a problem. Longevity – Soooooo we got one 3 years ago as a stop gap while our caravan hotwater service was fixed ( still waiting ) it's been in constant use every day since. Unfortunately I did have to replace the batteries once ( the horror ). Now it's getting moved to the to the car for the roof top tent set up. 2 duds – The first one I got was replaced under warranty as it failed to warm the water to anywhere near 50 degrees. I have used the replacement only once and now it doesn’t fire up at all despite new batteries and several hours of problem solving. Very disappointing.

Overrated – Main issue is it constantly blows out if there is the slightest breeze, I have tried everything including covering the side vents (one of Joolca's recommendation's). fashion is impossible as they become so stiff. I have had to replace the standard hoses with silicone ones. No matter how well you drain the unit after use it seams to still drop water everywhere after its been stored in the camper. Screws come loose all over it.

Pay money get problem - faulty motherboard – I bought a unit in 2019. Never used until recently. It literally sat in the box in a safe place while I was building a camper trailer. I tried to use when I had no hot water repairing flood damage and it failed to ignite the gas. I researched and tried every Trouble shoot possible, new gas bottles, new batteries etc. turns out the motherboard is faulty. I noticed most of the 5 star reviews are from people who have only recently bought one not long term owners read on – mine is just out of warranty, YIPPEE hardly used and apparently the electronic board is stuffed and no spare parts.That's right " no spare parts " unserviceable, at least I got an answer. Basically useless for outdoors – Has to be pretty much dead still for it to work, anymore than a slight breeze, the flame goes out, and then it has to be switched off and then back on again to re-ignite the flame - very frustrating.

Still works wonders 3 years later – For about 14 months I used this as my daily shower while roughing out on a rural property. Now it is a reliable camping companion. The original shower handle had a difficult sliding switch that came out early in the days. After the handle was accidentally dropped and broken, I purchased a replacement and the switching mechanism is much better on the replacement handle.  Show details
