Fair Incentive Ambassador Review Premium Smart Control

More satisfying than PowerWash Simulator on Xbox – I was sent this machine via the Product Review Ambassador program - this review is my own and unedited by either Product Review or Karcher. I have never had a pressure washer before, so this was a new experience. First, I was surprised at how big the box was - not huge, but quite large. I had to put the back seat down in my Yaris Cross to get it… Read more ·  1

in. It was well packaged, but a lot of packaging was Styrofoam and the like. While I understand it is to keep the machine safe, I would have appreciated recyclable materials (the Styrofoam was a PITA to break down and bin).

Once out of the box, the set up was amazing. I downloaded the app as per the flyer in the box and it guided me through EVERYTHING (nearly). Like, what each part is, how to connect the parts, when to turn it on, how to pair it, when to attach the hose, etc. For a first-time user, this was so much more valuable and user-friendly than the manual . The app also guides you through what tools, settings, modes, etc., to use to get the best results on different surfaces. But that is where the usefulness of the app ends, more on that later.

This machine comes with one tool which has three settings, one “blade” setting, one “dirt blaster” setting, and one “mix” setting (to mix chemicals and water). The blade setting is what I used most of the time as it is the most versatile; however, the dirt blaster was amazing for bricks and concrete, stripping 20 years of dirt, grime, moss, and mouse blood (thanks 2021 mouse plague and cat who mouses for fun) from the concrete in our driveway.

The dirt blaster setting is ultra-aggressive and seems to be best used for only ultra-sturdy surfaces such as brick and concrete. The app does recommend this, but I mean, I was excited to get hands-on with this machine and didn’t read that far. I did a little damage to some already damaged woodwork and stripped some paint off it (totally my fault).

We had a concrete area near our water heater that was covered in moss, almost black. After 15 minutes of cleaning, I was legitimately surprised that it was a very light grey. I have never seen it that clean.

The thing that I can’t emphasise enough is how satisfying this machine is to use. It’s like painting “clean” onto your surfaces.

The option to pop a Karcher soap container on top and have it automatically mix and dispense the soap is magic. I have used a car cleaner, window cleaner and general cleaner (all Karcher branded chemicals) with amazing results.

This machine isn’t perfect though… back to that app. This machine is Bluetooth enabled. It is supposed to tell you how much water you have used vs how much you have saved if you had used a hose instead. This has never worked. Even after a replacement handle. Karcher CS are freaking lovely, but couldn’t assist me further with this - this disappointed me a little.

Then the leaks. I had a small leak between the gun handle and the nozzle. I had another leak from the nozzle (when the mix mode was selected, it would leak through the blade mode, this was noticeable if using it at an upwards angle as you’d get wet from the dribble coming out of the nozzle). Karcher CS replaced both parts (it did take 3 weeks to get replacement parts after being told they weren’t in stock, but then they miraculously were sent). The replacement gun handle solved the leak between the tools, but the second nozzle still had the dribble when being used in mix mode. Karcher did offer to replace the whole unit but after this going on for a month and a half, honestly, I couldn’t have been bothered to pack it up and organise couriers etc. Karcher have assured me this will be covered under the 7-year warranty should difficulties arise.

That being said, this wouldn’t stop me from purchasing, but I would be more likely to purchase from Karcher direct via one of their stores (if close) or another retailer so I could take it directly back should issues arise.

Three minor annoyances, I wish the cord was longer, and I wish the hose had a swivel on it. I have a heavy-duty extension cord permanently attached to it, and have purchased an anti-twist adaptor (2.644-2570.0), but really would have expected this to be standard for a high-end machine. Also, once the gun handle and nozzle are connected, there is nowhere to store them if you want to stop for a moment, I wish the machine had a clip to the side to hold them. You can store them on the machine when not connected to each other, but not when assembled.

With these cons, I would still recommend this machine (but additional attachments will make your experience so much better).

Absolute Beast of a Pressure Washer – Absolute beast of a machine. When we unboxed her I couldn’t believe how big she was compared to the old Karcher we used years ago (can’t even remember the model number). Easy to assemble and manoeuvre as one end has wheels so when you tip it back you can roll it where it needs to go. The hose has a retractable handle so you can roll it back in… Read more ·  1

easy and neatly which I found a good upgrade from my old one. Once we had it set up we played around with the Bluetooth settings but couldn’t get it to sync, might be because our home wifi was weak and we were outside, I’m not sure but will play again later. The nozzle has three different settings, one of which is the circle one I am used to from older model, works amazing! There is a softer setting which must be a rinse setting, and then also a straight setting which hits horizontal or vertical depending how you hold the nozzle. We also got the eco booster 180 attachment which worked super well. I have to say that the size of the Karcher is actually a plus when doing large areas and you need to keep pulling more hose out. It’s heavy enough that you won’t tip the machine over which was a problem with my older smaller model. We managed to do a section of the driveway in minutes that would have taken half an hour on an older model. Absolutely blown away at how good this pressure washer is. I haven’t stopped by telling all my friends and family about it. Would 10/10 recommend and you’ll be everyone’s favourite friend when they can borrow your awesome pressure washer!

A Polished Highly Capable Pressure Washer Well Worth the Premium – This Karcher was a sent as a gift but with no conditions attached except for a review of my experiences, which I provide you below: As I unboxed and used it the question kept playing through my mind whether I would pay for one if this ever got stolen. It is an expensive, some would consider luxury item. After all, for most people, a simple… Read more ·  1

garden hose ostensibly does the same job. It too delivers water onto a surface at a user selectable range of pressures. The box was huge and heavy. It came as no surprise that the washer inside was the same. My last washer which I lost it when I left it on the nature strip overnight, was less than a quarter as big. Unboxing and assembling everything was straightforward. The owner’s manual describes all this in hieroglyphics and artwork not dissimilar to ancient cave drawings. This is common with many European products. Thankfully, it wasn’t needed.

Making the Bluetooth connection was slightly less straightforward. I persisted until it established a link and the app on my phone recognised the device. I am not sure this is necessary, but it was a feature and being a tech-nerd; I had to use it. Later, while operating the machine, I tried to use the app again, but the Bluetooth connection had been lost and I didn’t have a patience to reestablish it. Because there is really nothing that the app can do that the controls on the device can’t, I didn’t persist. Many good products are let down by non-robust wireless connections. I understand that Marketing love to add “Smart” to their brand messages. If that’s the case, companies need to make a better effort. Anyway, I have spent way more words on what is in the scheme of things a non- issue. The machine otherwise works flawlessly. It felt extremely well built and delivered continuous water pressure for a solid two hours.

In that time, I cleaned my entire driveway, the footpath and the crossover and my daughter’s extremely sparingly washed car.

The so called smart spray gun has a comfortable handle with a trigger that fits well into the hand. The onboard water hose that leads from the main unit uses a universal hose connector and a button operated detent to click into place. It all feels very solid. A large readable screen displays water flow settings and the flow type.

The detachable main wand, or to put into the correct Karcher terminology, the 3-in-1 Multi Jet spray lance, has three settings. Translated from hieroglyphics and Marketing Speak they are Soap, General-Purpose and Paint-Stripper. These settings are selected by turning the lower part of the lance. This is obviously connected to the brains of the unit because this setting shows up on the screen. For all but the Soap setting, the user can adjust the water flow in 6 steps plus a 30 second boost.

I started on the driveway using the most extreme setting, but soon turned it down when I saw the top surface being eroded. Set on General-Purpose, it cleaned a layer of dirt and algae and left the surface like new. Part of the footpath was covered in mud and crushed rock. I turned on Paint-Stripper mode and blasted this away revealing a raw grey concrete. I tried it on weeds. It obliterated them. Then I turned it on a section of the driveway covered in Lilydale Topping. It cleared everything on the surface, acting much like a strong leaf blower. I was on a roll. I tried it on a weathered railway sleeper. It cleared away the oxidation and left raw wood. I was impressed. This mode is seriously powerful.

Then I saw how little water I had used. I realised just how efficient this machine is. This is where it blows a garden hose out of the water (no pun intended).

Next day my partner asked me to clean some garden furniture so she could apply a fresh coat of paint. Set on the most aggressive setting, it made quick work of layers of old paint. Within minutes, the ornate cast iron furniture had a solid surface ready to paint.

Over the next two weeks I used it to clean everything from our cars, to our windows, our brick walls and our garbage bins. My partner is very happy with me. The house has not looked this fresh in ages.

So in summary it is an easy to use, machine, that is ready to use with a few simple steps. Wheel it to where you need to use it. Connect the garden hose. Use an extension lead to connect electric power. Click the required wand into place. Press the wand lever to evacuate trapped air. Turn on the power. Aim it where you need cleaning done. Like the ad says. Simples!

So what are some downsides? Where can it be improved? Well, it is bulky. It is a big and heavy machine that needs the wheels it’s got. Occasionally, it did tempt me to just use the garden hose. Each time I was glad I didn’t. I saved water and my job was cleaner. One downside is how the machine’s water hose is stowed. It uses a rotating drum that needs to be cranked by hand. The hose is quite stiff and takes a set shape which gets tangled. So one needs to unwind it a second time after one unwinds it from the drum. Also, the drum needs a bigger flange to contain the hose otherwise sometimes it wants to get trapped between the drum and body of the machine. The overall machine, the handle, the wheels and even the drum seem very robust but a few plastic pieces on the machine are a little flimsy. So you can’t be too rough with the machine.

I need to put my comments into perspective. The downsides mentioned are more nitpicking than real issues. The overwhelming feeling I have after using the machine is of quality, robustness and efficiency. This is a class act.

Coming back to the question I had asked myself. Yes, I’d definitely buy another Karcher K7. I do believe in the saying, that quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten. This product falls in that category of devices where paying a bit more is worth it.

Good quality, mediocre cleaning – Karcher provided me this washer and a bluetooth smart control handle in exchange for writing honest reviews of both items. I've had it for about a month and have used it to wash a few vehicles. I therefore can't comment on long term durability, but I will update this review if anything major changes over time. Positives: -three spray settings on… Read more

the wand were cool -slowly amping up water pressure each time you pull the trigger was nice -it did a reasonable job of cleaning a dusty motorcycle albeit not perfect -excellent phone support and long warranty is a nice touch -you can order spare parts for yourself off the karcher website too -the general build quality seems solid - it's a heavy machine, the fit and finish is good, most of the fittings and buttons are of high quality

Negatives: -excessively difficult and fiddly to setup. I'm reasonably handy but it took me a couple of hours, a phone call to customer service, two trips to the hardware store, troubleshooting an app, etc before I could use this device as intended/advertised. -the high pressure hose: OMG. It gets a memory, coils, kinks, is difficult to coil back onto its reel... this component is a major time sink -why doesn't this machine come with detergent out of the box? -for that matter, why does it need proprietary detergent bottles? Just put a refillable tank on there please. -The plastic water inlet hose fitting was sad and I replaced it with a quality metal piece from the hardware store -why on earth does a pressure washer need an app? -photo of kinked hose attached to this review - I gave up trying to reel it back correctly after 5-10 minutes of faffing around with it

Comments: -did the designers actually use this in anger? -I struggle to reconcile why a pressure washer would need an app

Specific usage scenarios: -First use - dusty road motorcycle. Time taken 2 hours - mostly in setup, troubleshooting, instruction manuals, and fighting with the high pressure hose. It did a 6/10 job cleaning. -It effectively cleared dust off broad surfaces, but you are hindered when cleaning around, say, a motorcycle engine, because you cannot force high pressure water into seals, wiring, and sensors. So, dirt remains in all the nooks and crannies. -Also, unbeknownst to me, karcher sells two very similar proprietary shampoo bottles for their products, but only one has the nipple in the lid to fit into this machine. So learn from my mistake when you make a trip to the hardware store and choose carefully. -As a result I hand washed the motorcycle with a sponge and bucket and the karcher was only providing a hi pressure rinse. -before/after photos attached to this review

Second use - lightly dirty car. time taken start to finish 45 minutes and 3/10 job cleaning. -The car was a hatchback with just some tailgate soiling from driving rainy roads and various bug poos from parking in a city office carpark. -I want to emphasise that this was not a very dirty car to begin with -Karcher failed to remove bug poos -Karcher failed to remove grime on tailgate and behind front wheels -these poos and soiling could be removed with the pad of your finger, by the way -The (pic attached) genuine karcher shampoo seemed ineffective -after photos attached to this review - see all the bug poos and grime still stuck to the paint

Overall -if you're weighing up investing $1000 and hours of setup plus, say, 10 minutes of setup and packdown each use, plus any extra accessories you might need... consider that's years worth of visits to the coinop carwash -my local DIY coinop carwash produces a better result. This pressure washer gives results roughly similar to a drive thru touchless wash. -This machine may be convenient for, say, rural residents or someone leaving this tool in situ at something with higher frequency usage -Over time, I will try some different detergents to see if I can produce better results. Hopefully we can see an improvement, however, I will have to invent some way to try other detergents in the karcher proprietary bottles. I think that a decent pressure washer should at least be able to match the cleaning capability of a coinop carwash and be able to clean bug poos and dust off an average car.

Just what I needed ! – The K7 is one almighty pressure washer. Its rugged and chunky. The unboxing and assembly were easy and the instructions were good enough to have the unit setup and then connected to my phone and ready to go in about 15-20 minutes. I have found over the last 2 weeks that I prefer not to connect the K7 to my phone to get the job done. To date, I… Read more ·  1

have cleaned the side of my shed, cleaned a filthy pathway and part cleaned my Colourbond fence. (see attached photos before and after).

****Things that are great****

Compared to other pressure washers I have used; this one has it all: - Everything clicks together so easily and comes apart just as easy BUT with a very strong and secure connection. On old pressure washers that I've used, I have struggled to get lances/sprayers on and off. - Adjustable Pressure (with Boost Mode), from very soft to very hard and all in between (this is a REAL plus) - The multi jet spray lance that comes with the K7 is versatile and covers a lot of differing job requirements. It has 3 functions that are accessed by rotating the multijet spray lance : Flat Jet nozzle, Dirt Grinder and Detergent nozzle. I used the flat jet nozzle (green algae and dirt) and the dirt grinder (for stubborn dirt/stains) to complete my pathway. - Very substantial hose length. Plenty of hose to cover most jobs without having to move the unit. - good hose management system. (you 'wind' the hose onto a spool that forms part of the unit) - The K7 has a few compartments that store some attachments. It certainly stores all the items that come with the K7, plus I was able to also fit in the eco!Booster 180 (an additional accessory that can be purchased which I have reviewed separately) - adjustable/extendable transport handle (like a travel suitcase). The K7 unit is large and heavy, so this extendable handle helps move the K7 around without any problems.

****Things that could be better****

- There is nowhere to store the electrical cord efficiently. - The instructions could be better, although they become easier to understand, once you know how the machine works. - Holding the spray gun gets a bit heavy on your forearms over time. - The 'smart' phone connect uses for the K7 seem more like a gimmick as I have found you don't need to connect to have all functions of the K7 available.

****OVERALL****

This is by far the best pressure washer I have ever used. For me the adjustable pressure and the extra-long hose are my most favoured features that the K7 offers. The multi jet spray lance is also a winner. I recommend this product because of ease of use and its versatile features. Plus most importantly, it gets all your pressure cleaning jobs done without any hassles.

Meet the Beast That Gave Me Back My Weekend: The Kärcher K7! – WOW after using the Kärcher K7 Premium Smart Control Pressure Washer, I can confidently say this machine is an absolute BEAST! Setting it up was a breeze; I downloaded the app, paired the machine, and assembled it in just a few minutes, thanks to the clear,… Read more ·  1

step-by-step pictures provided.

The app is packed with cleaning tips for various surfaces like decking and pavers, and its standout feature allows you to select your cleaning task. With a simple push of a button, it configures the pressure and provides detailed instructions on which attachments to use—super convenient!

One of my favourite features is the extendable handle, which makes manoeuvring this hefty machine much easier. Due to its weight, it remains stable during use, and the cleverly designed hose reel rolls out smoothly. The generous hose length allowed me to clean our large patio and even reach around to the side of the house without constantly moving the machine. The detergent system could not be easier, you simply invert the bottle and place it onto the top of the machine.

The spray gun is impressive, delivering a powerful stream of water that cleans large areas quickly. It comes with three nozzles for easy switching between tasks. While I found the spray gun a bit heavy and needed both hands to operate it comfortably, the LCD display makes adjusting pressure and detergent levels effortless.

The boost mode is a game changer for tackling stubborn mould spots around our high-humidity home. After using this pressure washer, everything looks brand new—from walls to driveways. We cleaned our entire patio, pool area, pathways, and even our shed in just a few hours—saving us most of our weekend!

Pros: *Sturdy design prevents tipping. *Generous hose length minimizes repositioning. *Extendable handle for easy transport. *Quick assembly with clear app instructions. *Powerful cleaning with a useful boost mode. *Versatile spray gun with multiple nozzles. *Easy-to-use detergent system.

Cons: *The machine's weight makes transport challenging if you want to take it to other places. *The spray gun can be a little heavy for extended use.

Overall, I highly recommend the Kärcher K7 Premium Smart Control Pressure Washer for anyone looking to make their outdoor cleaning tasks faster and more effective!

Great unit – The K7 unit has proved to be a great pressure washer unit. It's been great for washing our very grubby driveway - oil, plant stains, dirt, etc. I also used the unit to clean my car and it proved to be very useful as it did not damage the paintwork. It's very powerful and secure, with no leakages from the attachments. It's been a lot easier to use… Read more ·  2

than previous pressure washers I've had. There's a few other jobs I wish to use it on (house external walls, fence gate and porch and will provide updates when I've finished these jobs. Overall an excellent unit.

Faulty technical issues around mobile & terrible support – I purchased the K7 Smart Control as a replacement for an older karcher that served us very well, but this model has been so poorly designed that it failed to operate as advertised. I purchased directly from Karcher via their website. First problem is that it requires a mobile with their app installed to operate the device. If your mobile is not… Read more

near, can’t connect or it fails to add the device in the app, you can’t change the units settings (I kept getting “device not recognised” either through using the included barcode or manually entering in my units details) Second problem is that it uses Bluetooth to link the handle to the main unit. The handle control screen also uses independent batteries from the main unit power supply from mains electricity. (mine would not pair with the main unit showing only a full battery & the pairing icon – the screen remains blank if it can’t connect) As neither of these worked for me, I called their technical support. The support people failed to understand either of the problems or did not have the technical ability to solve them. They both stated they had to escalate to a technician who would call me back to help. On the two occasions I called, nobody called me back. I then demanded a warranty return & they tried to then counter with a replacement unit. When items fail like this one did, you want to feel comfortable that support can assist and respond quickly to your concerns. Especially when paying $1000+ for a device. As I did not feel like my issue was being dealt with promptly or efficiently & the complicated faultu technical issues the device had, I returned the unit.
