Kenwood kMix Triblade

Works well – I've had a run of bad stick mixers and had just about given up hope when this one was on sale at Myer online. It is a little heavy to hold when using it, but simultaneously it doesn't have too much vibration, either. The masher attachments work well and it blends soups very well indeed - even when hot! In fact, I particularly wanted something… Read more · 1
metal because I wanted to be able to blend soups while still warm and wasn't sure about the safety of the plastics in the heat.
So far: no brown fluid leakages, no sparking motors and very little vibration. So far it's a thumbs up!
Washing it up is quicker by hand and really easy. Hopefully it will work well into the future, as it's now discontinued. I don't really want to have to buy another stick mixer any time soon!
Blends well, quiet, but smells and leaks brown fluid despite cleaning thoroughly after every use; WO – Kenwood are supposed to be a an excellent brand, so I was happy to purchase the kmix tri blade hand blender at a good price (on sale) at Myer. I wanted hand blender attachments which could be placed in the dishwasher, and was surprised when the manual stated the tri blade attachments were not dishwasher safe. are easy to wash after running the mixer in a glass of clean water after use. The hand blender blade started to smell 4 or 5 months ago. Extra washing did not help. We typically make banana smoothies once or twice a week, but had a break over the holiday/New Years of a few weeks. The brown smelly fluid mentioned by other kenwood tri blade owners was present in the blade cover. Given that fluid has not gone down the shaft from where the attachment connects to the motor, it seems that fluid must be going UP into the shaft from the mixing blade end. This is really poor design. Our cheapo $10 hand blender worked well for 10 years and still works fine. It was just noisy and harder to clean. This kMix is not the answer, and the hand blender attachment will likely have to be discarded after just one year of use. This is shameful, and awful for the environment. I will never buy a kenwood hand blender again, and would hesitate before purchasing ANY other Kenwood appliance. In contrast, my Black and Decker hand mixer is still going strong after almost 20 years.
