I am surprised by the performance of this heater. It takes about 20-30 minutes to heat up completely, which is to be expected with oil heaters. I think the bad reviews are coming from people who expected it to make the room toasty hot. It will not make the room hot, but it will take the edge off, bring it up to room temperature at least, and make it comfortable. Which is exactly what I wanted. If you want the room to be hot, this heater is too small to do that. It’s not a bad heater. It’s just not what you wanted.
To be perfectly honest, nobody should be opting for ANY 5 fin oil heater if they want toasty hot, unless the intended space is very small. That’s your error as a customer. You didn’t do your homework and you made an impulsive purchase. We’re all guilty of it at some point but don’t blame the product. You should have opted for the 11 fin oil heater.
Try it for yourself, its worth it – I am actually stunned at these negative comments. I am in the process of replacing my 5 fin oil heater that I use for a small room; which I bought from Kmart; and only because I unintentionally damaged the cord. a SMALL room. Perhaps you need to re-evaluate your surroundings first. Don't put blame elsewhere if you haven't made the room airtight to stop draughts. I believe it could be that simple for you to achieve the comfortable heat we experience in my home with the 5 fin Kmart oil heater; you did say you use your heater in a SMALL room. People…sometimes you got to find out for yourselves, and not rely on 'who knows who' …that are leaving negative comments on here. From my experience, I felt so strongly about those negative comments not being quite accurate that I had to leave my opinion here. I hope it's helpful. Thanks kindly Kmart. B
Regret buying the heater – Bought at KMart Ocean keys on 20th of June. The heater does not functioning well as it cannot make the small room hot.

Disappointing – I should have read the reviews before purchasing this product. I actually thought I got a product that's malfunctioning of some sort but after reading these reviews.. it's just not a good product to buy. This may work for a very tiny room, don't get me wrong my room isn't that extremely spacious but I just can't feel any warmth with this heater. Show details

Worst buy from kmart – Bought 2 oil heaters online without reading these reviews and regret now. I regularly shop at kmart and never had this kind of a disappointment. Since I used to trust kmart goods, unpacked both and fixed the wheels and started using. What a disappointment. You wouldn't feel the heat a feet away. Both of my heaters are like that. Doesn't heat anything – I left the heater on for approximately two hours and it did not heat my small bedroom. I could place my hand on the fins and it wasn't hot. When I tried to return it the attendant said "It's not meant to heat up the room only keep it room temperature". Very disappointed as the website said it was meant to keep my room warm and cosy. Broke after 3 months – This heater got very light use for only a few months until one day, it failed to turn on any more. Sad. Taken back for a refund, which was trouble free. While it was working, it came up to temperature in about 10-15 minutes. It would probably be effective for a small bedroom, I found it made zero difference to the ambient temp in a living space about the size of a double garage unless you were standing right next to it.
