Lid sticks and needs spoon to open it – I bought this kettle (in sage green) about 6 months ago and soon after, the lid was sticking and I had to use a spoon to prise it open every time. I should have returned it immediately but didnt and put up with the difficult lid. Over time I got lazy and didnt close the lid when boiling because it was so annoying trying to open the lid. Because of… Read more

Faulty design – The lid opening system broke immediately. We got the kettle replaced and soon after, the new one had the same problem. It's a faulty design. After a few months of struggle with the lid, the kettle stopped working. There is a problem with the electric connection. It's not the cheapest kettle, but any other cheaper kettle would be a better quality. Show details

Broke after 2 months – We bought the kettle 2 months ago and the button to lift the lid has stopped working. It is quiet and fairly quick at boiling the water but we now have to forcibly open the lid, sometimes with other utensils. Show details

Broken within less than 8 months – I bought a pink kettle of this brand and in about 6 months the button for opening the lid wasn't working, I had to get bread and butter knife to open the lid and even then it was difficult while pushing the button and one day I forgot I had just boiled the kettle and wanted to add more water and went to open the lid with my fingers and burnt… Read more

myself, hence me now using a knife to get the lid open. My $15 cheap kettle has lasted me 2 years, don't waste your money on this dearer kettle which by the way is the ANKO brand which is Kmart own brand, not happy with the kettle, because I couldn't find my receipt to return it and I also live 1 hour away from closest shopping precinct so its a real pain to drive for an hour one way and another hour coming home just to return 1 item, when it should be good quality to begin with, what's happened to QC ? When I bought this dearer kettle I paid full price of $45 and I only paid that because I really wanted a pink kettle to go with my new furnishings and decor which is pink and grey which I totally love. I haven't thrown the kettle out yet its my back up one in case my cheap one decides to die, I just have to remember if i need to use my pink kettle to open the lid with a knife and not my fingers. Lucky I kept my cheap one and lucky when I burnt myself it wasn't to severe, although it still hurt as I have extremely sensitive skin, so sensitive in fact that I am allergic to the sun. Pic and a video showing me pushing the button for the lid to open and it does nothing, except cause frustration.

Very dangerous kettle – I received this kettle in April for my birthday and after last night i won't be asking for or purchasing kmart appliances again ... The lead was melted in the socket and we're so lucky it didn't start a fire and the base got very hot not impressed Show details

Faulty lid button – Having been very happy with my Kmart toaster which hasn’t missed a beat, I decided to buy a “higher quality” (ie. more expensive) Kmart kettle so it would similarly last me years. Within a month the mechanism that opens the lid failed. Inexplicable- come on Kmart - mine is now the 5th review which mentions this - where’s your quality control? Show details

Lid keeps popping open so auto switch off doesn't work – Looks great but only had it for a few weeks before lid started popping open every time we used it so auto stop doesn't work. Have to hold lid down manually to reach boiling point. Kettle is also loud and outside gets very hot. Will be taking it back and requesting a refund.  Show details

I love it! – Bought the white version and love the look of it. It does make very alarming noises when warming up BUT it works well. At the moment, form wins out over function for me! Show details

4 weeks and already faulty – Loved the design. Unfortunately the lid just after 3 weeks stopped closing properly and therefore it doesn't switch off automatically. I am highly disappointed. I really want my money back. And it wasn't the cheapest.  Show details

Don't forget the vinegar! – This little unit looks good ( matches the Scandi, light-industrial thing we have going on in the kitchen)...BUT...if you don't do the vinegar boil beforehand ( as per instructions) the tea and coffee will be undrinkable. Can't cut corners with that one. Show details

Noisiest kettle I have ever had – Look it boils water which is what I bought it for . I could have gone cheap but i loved the look. When you turn the kettle on it initially starts off quiet then it starts sounding like popcorn being cooked then it is quiet just before it turns off. I have used it at all different water levels and always the same so I will just put ip with it as I really do love the look and it’s easy to clean inside and out . Show details

Its just a kettle that rusts internally – We purchased this design of kettle some time ago from KMart. It has been terrific up until we discovered the base on the inside rusting. We have scrubbed the pot to no avail Show details

It's amazing, it boils water! – A stainless steel kettle for under $40 It has a cool comfortable handle so you don't burn your hands, when it has boiled. It has a nice easy pour. works for me. Show details

Pay More and Get a Decent Kettle – No matter how inexpensive, it's not worth it. Without doubt, the worst kettle I have ever purchased. No insulation so after boiling, the exterior remains dangerously hot. The lid release trigger broke within 7 days so filling could only be done via the spout. Then the screws holding the handle fell out and could not be refixed. The base of the inside formed black circles within days. Threw it out after two weeks. Show details

Love the look, its a great kettle – I bought this kettle a month ago, but have just opened it this week. I followed the instructions on prior use, but my coffee tastes toxic. I also have found that it isn't consistent with boiling. Really disappointed as I love the look. UPDATE: The strange taste has gone. I live this kettle, for tge price its great and suits my kitchen. Kambrook sell one almost identical for alot more. Show details ·  1

Not the best for performance but it looks great!! – After only buying $$$ kettles we saw this one in Kmart and it just looked so nice and looks great in the kitchen. But... compared to our Breville kettles or even our backup Bellini this kettle boils slowly and loudly and cools down very fast. However... we are prepared to put up with it because it looks so nice and I haven't been able to find another that has a press lid and is grey with wood. Show details

Great kettle- love it – Purchased kettle only yesterday for $39 at Kmart- so far very happy with it. Easy to fill, easy to determine water level. Looks stylish- bought grey stainless steel. Quiet- boils fast - cuts off when boiling- has filter in spout. The reviewer who commented that coffee doesn’t taste good may have neglected to boil kettle with vinegar and water for… Read more

the first time when using it then discard water, boil again in plain water, discard again then you’re ready to go. This was in the manufacturers instructions in the box. I only wish I had paid $15 for it like some other reviewers did at KMart

The kettle works well but the coffee tastes bad – I will no longer use this Anko plastic kettle because the water has a bad taste when boiled in it. I compared equal amounts of coffee in identical cups with the water boiled in my old Braun kettle and in the new Anko. The coffee made with the Braun is fine but the coffee made with the Anko has a chemical flavour. Show details

What a Bargain at a Great Price !! – What a bargain from K-Mart. Very quiet and boils quickly. It has anti overboil safety system as well as a display that shows the number of cups instead of parts of a litre which is excellent. Highly recommended at a great price !! Show details
