Kmart Anko Convection Heater with Timer DL05L-F
VerifiedMPN: DL05L-F5 reviews
Terrible Anko Convection Heater – Terrible quality product: thermostat does not work and the heater randomly displays different ambient room temperatures. The heater supposedly turns on and off relative to the ambient room temperature, however, the heater I had would display 26C one moment and then 16C the next. Further, the default setting is 25C: to set your desired temperature you need to press MODE, then press MODE again to select HIGH, then press MODE again to select low, then press the '+' and '-' buttons to set your temperature, and then press the fan button to turn the fan on. So, in my case, to set the power to low and the temperature to 22C, I had to press the buttons on the remote 7 times every time the heater was turned on as this heater does not remember your settings - it always defaults to 25c when turned on. Lastly, the battery cover on the remote kept on falling off. I will be returning this unit as my 22-year-old convection heater without the fancy display and remote control has a thermostat that works. I thought that the Anko heater would provide convenience with its remote control, however, I was very much mistaken. I also note that this heater is listed as discontinued, so perhaps the very low quality of the product is why (despite the glowing reviews on Kmart's website).
Really great for the value however, there are other options to consider depending on your needs – This heater is suitable for those who wants to heat up their entire room fairly quickly. Its affective because it heats up the air via convection hence you feel the warmth throughout the room. However, the heat does not remain for longer once the unit is switched off as the air can dissipate quickly and return to the usual temperature. Also, the air tends to feel dry and can feel a smell especially when the heater is new. If you are looking to retain heat for longer and a heater that is more economical, then I would recommend Oil radiator heaters as the best option (although they can be slow to build up heat - more economical in the long run).

Thanks for your feedback, we will share this with our team.
Disappointed – I have a smaller cheaper fan heater that works better. Taking mine back today. I ran it for 5 hours to keep my room warm. The moment you go out the door to toilet or whatever it gets cold again. It never went beyond 21 degrees all that time with every window and door closed. Plain disappointment for 65 dollars

Terrible appliance – The most frustrating appliance I have ever had. I’ve read the manual three times !!! I’ve tried increasing the temperature and the temperature decreased!! One cold night I felt like throwing it over the balcony I was that frustrated with it. It’s a cheap product trying to be fancy with all theses controls… that don’t work. Suggestion-keep it simple, When you press the plus it should increase in temperature, when you press the minus it should decrease the temperature, an on and an off, possibly a fan and that’s it !!! NONE of the symbols match the action. Aaarrrggh

UPDATE: Ok after using the heater every evening now, being Winter, I have worked this heater out; if i need to increase the heat I need to press the + plus sign twice (not once) and have to wait a minute before it increases and to turn it off I have to press Off twice/or until i hear a click noise that turns if off. So the heater is not as frustrating as when i first started using it. It does heat well, however I do not bother with the pre-set time so cannot provide feedback on this feature. Overall satisfied considering the economical price and that it is not too bulky. With that said i would give it a 2-3 out of 5.
Great value, perfect for small to medium rooms, but the timer is basic – It does an excellent job of heating a small to medium sized room, as it has either 1,000w or 2,000w output modes. Setting the temperature is easy via a nice touch panel, plus it has a 'no frost' (7 degrees) mode. There is an 'auto' mode, but the temperature for that is locked at 25 degrees, so I'm not sure what the point of that mode is. There is a little fan on the side, but it's pitiful and adds nothing much other than some noise. There is a timer, but it's just a basic turn-on-or-off after X hours, with no recurring cycle or clock. The little remote works great, but you have to supply the two AAA batteries. Essentially, if you want something to just turn on, set and then to sit silently in a corner, it's great
