Very happy with this purchase. The framework is extremely sturdy, amazing quality and great comfort. Assembly definitely needs two people, but it sure is easy to follow. Great couch. Bed is a little bit too soft for me personally. There's also a noticeable dip in the middle of the mattress, where it folds and where the sliding base starts, but if you're not trying to sleep smack bang in the middle of the bed you probably won't notice it. is completely unreasonable and poorly managed.

Assembly is unnecessarily frustrating. There are several parts to put together, and the covers rely heavily on Velcro to stay in place.

Unfortunately, the fabric pills extremely easily, and it’s nearly impossible to work with the Velcro without damaging the material. Once the fabric touches the Velcro in the wrong way, it’s permanently ruined. For a product marketed as “Luxe,” this feels cheap and poorly designed.

Although the covers are removable and technically replaceable, replacement covers cost around $1,000, which is more than half the price of the entire sofa. Charging that much for fabric of this quality is hard to justify.

The mattress design is also deeply flawed. It’s folded in half and held together by two straps that constantly come loose, causing the back of the mattress to become uneven. As a result, the back cushions slide into the gap created by the fold, making the sofa uncomfortable and unstable.

While the mattress itself is large, it’s positioned sideways, meaning that when used as a bed, you are forced to lie sideways relative to the sofa. This makes it impractical for anything other than sleeping — it’s useless for lounging, watching TV, or any activity facing forward.

The fold point in the mattress is very firm, and you can clearly feel the bed base underneath, which significantly reduces comfort. After purchasing, I found several independent reviews describing the exact same problems, suggesting these are known design issues rather than isolated defects.

Finally, I do not believe the reviews on Koala’s website can be trusted. I’ve owned this sofa for several weeks, yet I was never invited to leave a review and I am unable to post one directly on their site. This raises serious concerns about how customer feedback is being collected or displayed, especially given how many issues this product clearly has.

Overall, paying nearly $2,000 for this sofa bed feels unjustifiable. Between the delivery issues, fragile fabric, poor design choices, and questionable review transparency, I’ve decided to return it. I would not recommend this product to anyone expecting quality, durability, or honest representation at this price point

they're solid and can easily support me (90kg) sitting on them (not Koala recommended, just my own experience).

The installation was easy, intuitive, and Koala has provided all the necessary steps. It took me about half an hour with a friend, and by the end, we had a brand spanking new sofa bed.

The fabric looks great, and the Green wattle is such a killer colour also.

I'm impressed that Koala could package their famous mattress technology inside a sofa bed, but with this sofa bed in the house I can rest easy knowing my guests (and even myself) can have an amazing night's sleep whilst on the couch.

conferencing for work. Since receiving the bed in late 2023, I have slept on it as my full-time bed every night for six months. I have no complaints and I can confirm that sleeping on the bed has not caused pain at all (I am 35 years old with a few chronic issues).

Prior to using the Byron sofabed, I had the Cushy sofa bed which I really wanted to love. Whilst the Cushy sofabed had a thicker base, it wasn’t suitable to be used as a permanent bed. You need to place a mattress topper on it before you can sleep on it which made putting it away troublesome, and when in bed mode, the folds in the Cushy sofabed do sink in and was uncomfortable for long-term sleeping.

The only fault to the Byron sofa bed is that when I pull out the bed base and push in the bed base, something gets stuck underneath the sofa. I believe this is because the sofa bed is quite heavy and i have it sitting on thick carpet and therefore the ground is uneven for the wheels to travel. If you place it on a hard surface you should have no issues.

Ps the hidden compartment is such a great feature!

Our guests got the best night’s sleep on our new Koala sofa bed! They found it very comfortable and both slept well. I would highly recommend this as an option for a spare bed.

Comfortable but a flawed design – This sofa bed is comfortable and looks nice. The frame construction seems pretty good. The sofa bed looks quite nice. There is one constant annoyance however. The fabric covering the foam base has shifted which makes it hard to velcro it in place. This has meant that the base now slips forward which causes the back cushions to drop. This review is very much real and not incentivised and I’d definitely not recommend this product - the sofa part slips out every time you sit down and just isn’t well constructed. It might work if you only plan on having it in a spare room and don’t need to sit on the sofa, otherwise it’s not worth it. Such a shame as it looks nice.

We love it but we had the zip come off twice. Koala has great customer service though for refunds or replacements. They've got your back! The mattress is so comfy for sleep too, like sleeping on a cloud, My kids says.

Such a stylish sofa, which makes it stand out from other sofa beds which tend to be chunky and unattractive. We slept on this for weeks when family were staying and the mattress was great. So not just aesthetically pleasing, but comfy too! Would definitely recommend. There was a small problem at delivery when one parcel had the wrong colour item instead. Much better compared to the Byron v2 which kept falling apart. The v3 has so much to offer, just the fold part of the couch is saggy when in sleep mode to the point where you feel like you're falling into it... I call it the crack. Great if you pick a half to sleep on tho.
