Kogan EC-65 II Pro Active Noise Cancelling Headphones

This was my first pair of noise cancelling headphones so I can't compare the effectiveness of the ANC. It was only fair and the volume level was rather low. But my main complaint was with the poor quality of the ear pads. After just a year, the material came apart as shown in the photo. Show details
Kogan EC-65 II Pro: Worse Than I Expected! – The Kogan EC-65 II Pro are worse than I expected. Since Kogan products are usually Bang for a Buck, I thought these would really be a bang for a buck, but you can get this kind of sound quality for a lesser price. When in noise cancellation there is always a static, which I hate in wireless wearables. What Kogan could've focused on when… Read more
designing the product is the quality of the sound, and not the design. Well, I do like the Matte Black texture on the black model, I would still rather have better sound quality, and no static.
The bass on these headphones aren't good at all, as when a deep ocean sound comes, with deep bass, the headphones struggle to produce that sound, therefore creating a lot of static. The Active Noise Cancellation is very good and functional, you can switch between the two, but the Noise Cancellation part isn't that strong, but I think its good for the price. However, there isn't transparency, which is becoming more common in wireless headphones and earphones. The whole exterior is mostly made up of plastic, but good plastic, as it is nice and smooth, and doesn't catch smudges on it (on the black model). The cushions aren't that soft, and are very uncomfortable after a few minutes of wear, which Kogan can improve upon in the coming years.
Overall, the headphones are nice, and they come in a Hard Case, with a wire (to charge the headphones, and a plane headphone jack adapter. Maybe in the coming years, Kogan can improve the sound quality, cushion quality, and add transparency, and take away the travel case, so they can keep the same price, and maybe they can sell the case separately, it can be an addon.

Do everything as advertised but die early due to bad quality – Purchased a set within 3 months they were replaced due to ear pads wearing down and unwearable due to discomfort, Kogan replaced them without any problems. The replacement pair had the same problem but put up with it for a while and then the two ends broke and wouldn't sit against the ears; again unusable. The second pair developed this problem… Read more
close to the end of warranty. Contacted Kogan who would not replace it due to it being past the warranty period?? I mentioned it was still within 12 months from receiving this replacement pair, they advised that the warranty from the first pair was in place and that a second warranty is not given for replacement items. Unhappily I complained that this was not a good way to treat a customer who had spent thousands of dollars with them over a short period and to please recognize that I have been a very good customer. This they refused to consider and continued to refuse any help. Only after making more noise about it and becoming very annoyed because they were not honouring any warranty on replacement and were not acknowledging the fact that I am a many times repeat customer did they offer to look at the item and then decide whether they will refund. I still have no outcome. I'm very disappointed that they give great incentives to new customers to purchase but long-term loyal customers do not get recognition or any kind of show of appreciation for their patronage. Not a good business practice Kogan. If you want to keep your customers you should look after the ones that are loyal, I was not asking you to replace a fridge or a TV which I have purchased from you among many other things. A little bit of respect for a good customer would go a long way to better business for all concerned. Annoyed and disappointed.

Headphones from Heaven – The EC-65 !! Pro headphones are super comfortable, work from 50+ meters to my phone or laptop and have incredible sound. As for the price of just $59, definitely value for money. Show details
Nice Headphones for decent price – I purchased the Kogan EC-65 II Pro Noise Cancelling Headphones to replace my years old Sennheiser wireless headphones. The Sennheiser was a good, solid performer so the EC-65 II Pro from Kogan has a tough act to follow. This item comes nicely packaged with its own carry case and all cables, adapters etc are contained within. The headphones have a… Read more
pleasant feel and good build quality. They fit rather snugly and reasonably comfortable on the head. Bluetooth (version 5.0) connection was straightforward. The sound quality is crisp, clear and satisfying. It doesn't quite reach the full richness my old Sennheisers, but it comes pretty close. If your audio device has an equalizer, go easy on the lower ranges as the bass can become quite pronounced. Overall, a great pair of headphones for the price.
A solid overear noise cancelling headphone for a fair price – I got these headphones after losing my JBL 600BTNC which were highly underrated and were selling for the same price range at the time. First of all let's talk about the construction and feel of the headphone. The pads/earcups are actually pretty decent and will withstand a fair bit of sweat which I can attest to as I wore them all the time while… Read more
working out for a few months and they have minimal wear and tear. The headphones look a bit cheap only because of the styling on the outside of the cup. It's frankly quite bland and has no sense of design to it whatsoever. It's very no frills. That is real shame because the headphones do feel very sturdy and kogan missed an opportunity here. I'd recommend the black ones over the grey colours.
Ok now onto the sound which is the most important part of any headphone. The sounds is nothing to write home about but it's solid. The max volume is actually pretty low so if you are like me and love to blast Metallica until your ears bleed then this is not the headphones for you. The depth of the bass is also quite lacking. In fact I heard better bass on the Galaxy buds. The EC-65 does well with what is offered. I found the headphones handled quite well at high volumes without crackling and remained very clear. It handled mid and treble exceptionally well.
Now onto the reason I'm assuming everyone is looking at these headphones...the noise cancelling. If that is what you are looking for then honestly move on to something else like the JBL headphones I mentioned above. The NC on the EC-65s isn't the best. It actually sounds like it's amplifying noise when it's turned off just so the effect is more prominent whe you turn it on. Not to mention I could pretty much still hear the majority of noises on my daily bus commute including the engine humm which is the main reason people buy NC HPs.
The battery life is actually pretty decent. It's touted as 65 hours listening time on their website and I'd have to say it comes close. I wear these all the time during the day listening to audiobooks and music and I must have charged it maybe 1once a week or fortnight in some cases.
Bluetooth connectivity is pretty standard and easy to setup. The range is pretty good. The furthest I've walked away from my phone is about 25 meters and still got clear sound and use of the controls.
Overall this is a solid buy for the price. At the time of writing this they are selling for $64 dollars which is a bargain for what you are getting. I'd highly recommend for the average audio listener who isn't willing to part with a limb just to enjoy their favourite music or audiobooks etc.
Bought addition pairs – I purchased a pair from Kogan and found them very good and a good price for working on my computer. Lent them to my children to use on their tablet and now had to purchase more as they are a good fit and work well for sound quality and noise reduction. Show details
Really good – Purchased recently on sale for around $60, money well spent. Used them on the plane and the Noise cancelling was excellent. The wife and friends I was with couldn't believe how good they were. I haven't tried expensive brands to compare but am very happy with these. Show details
Low quality materials – I've had 3 sets of these headphones break in the exact same way. One of the earpieces will break at the swivel connection leaving it dangling by a wire. I am not rough with them and would keep them in the case when not in use so I can only assume its the quality of the material. After having had them replaced twice under warranty I've given up on… Read more
them. It's a shame because apart from this I really liked them. They were comfortable and I thought the audio and anc was great for the price.

Not compatible – I purchased a Kogan headphones set, so that I could listen to the TV which is also a Kogan product. There was nothing to say that they were not compatible as when I looked at the TV manual, it said that bluetooth could be toggled on or off, which I automatically thought that they would be compatible. Very disappointed, seeing that I spent $70 for nothing. Show details

These are definitely not the best ANC headphones, but, for the performance/price, they are one of them – I just received this pair of headphones today and was really eager to test them to find out whether they are a hidden gem. I am a passionate audiophile who has a high standard of musicality. However, for the price which I paid for these headphones (AU$ 69.99), it is impossible to expect them to sound as good as HD800 or as special as HD650/600,… Read more
but they offer amazing value for what you paid:
(Terrible, bad, average, good, excellent)
- Comfort/Isolation: Excellent (4.5/5). Their comfort can be equally compared with Taostronics BH-085. Although they can't reach to the level of Bose NC, they are still far better than Sennheiser BTNC 4.50 and 450BT. I couldn't wear these Senn headphones for a long period and I hate them.
- Sound quality (Average - Good) (3/5 - 3.5/5 Updated)- First impression: EC-65 II has a natural, clear and a little bit laid back and dark sound. However, all of these attributes are above average to my ears (Treble 5.5/10, Mid 6.5/10, Bass 7/10), not exceptional overall but really good for their price range.
(Bonus 0.5 for Sound quality: After wearing them for 2 weeks, I thought that I had to change my rating on their sound quality, the sound signature is really suitable for EDMs, so 3.5/5)
- Active Noise Canceling (Average - Good) (3/5 - 2.5/5 Updated) - They cancelled around 70-75% of low-frequency sound, around 10-20% for middle-frequency, and 0% for high-frequency sound. I didn't test them on an airplane, but I will as soon as I can due to COVID.
(Update: I will minus 0.5 from ANC, because I tested in various environments, and realised that these are average [not above average] - So 2.5/5 for ANC)
- Microphone (3.5/5) Quite good for my Zoom Conferences (Updated).
- Technologies: Excellent (5/5 - 4/5 Updated) They offer the latest technologies on the market: USB-C, Fast charging, Really good battery (over 20 hours for ANC+music, around 40 hours for music via Bluetooth), Bluetooth 5.0
(Update: Connection is not good compared with others in the same price range (even they claimed that Bluetooth is 5.0), Minus 1 for Connection, so 4/5 for Technology. On the other hand, the battery is extremely good, over 45 hours (almost 50 hours) based on my usage)
Bonus: a decent carry case
Overall 3.8/5 ~ 4/5. They are really good ANC headphones for under AU$ 70. I'm quite satisfied with this purchase.
They feel great and the sound is very good value for money (while on special), but – I just received these and there is little difference between noise cancelling on or off. They may be faulty so I will contact Kogan. They are very easy to set up, very comfortable and sound really good. They look and feel a bit cheap compared to my girlfriends JBL's but sound is equivalent. The JBL's were cheaper than the Kogan at full price… Read more
although the JBL's didn't come with a case which the Kogan does. I only paid $79.99 as a pre-order so at that price I'm reasonably happy. If the NC gets sorted I will be very happy.
I am blown away , its that simple – I bought these headphones before wanting to commit big money but wow these are stunning, and as an ex-professional sound engineer that says something. OMG, better than my Bose !!! they are comfortable and connected easily. The sound quality is amazing, full rich bass, clear tops and really lovely stereo imagery. I cannot wear in-ears any more and… Read more
never will again now I have these. How can these guys make these for this price? I am using them now for relaxation but also in my Logic studio for sound and video and they are a dream. I cannot rate them highly enough. the only downside (and its really small) is they feel a little bit plastic, however, its the sound that matters, and I can not fault them. Comfortable as hell.
