So much better than I expected – I’m renting so didn’t want to ask my landlord to install a split system and risk them increasing the rent when realistically I would only use it a couple of times a year. I had held off buying a porter air conditioner as my experiences with them in the past haven’t been all that great. However with the intense 40+ heat this summer in my old house, I thought I would risk it and return it if it didn’t work. WHY DIDN’T I BUY THIS SOONER? It’s so icy cold, as cold as a split system and quickly cooled down my house. I used it in both my living areas and my bedroom (It’s heavy but it’s on wheels so I just push it through the house). Yes it is noisy (which is why I took 1 star off) but when it’s 40+ I don’t even care about the noise and I would just blast it in my bedroom for a couple of hours before I’d go to sleep to cool the room down and then turn it off and just use my ceiling fan. I’m yet to use the heating function but my house is freezing in winter so am looking forward to using it in winter.

Purchased in at Kogan.com for $349.

Noisy and useless – Doesn't cool the small bedroom and is extremely noisy even when on low fan speed. The bedroom is usually 28 degrees. It cools to about 26-27 degrees at best. I've tried different settings, nothing works. It's connected to the window correctly and is away from the wall. Show details

The product has been great - reliable and a quick way to cool a large area – I did leave a negative review about the customer service experience some years ago but given the passing of time I feel it is fair to leave a review highlighting how well the product has worked since that time. It is a great air conditioner in that it quickly cools the room and is reliable. The only negatives would be having to exhaust the hot… Read more

air but that goes with having a portable air conditioner.

The product looks good, is tidy and blows clean air. It is a great option and worth exploring if you are considering buying and installing a permanent air conditioner which would be far more expensive.

The air conditioner comes with the usual features such as different fan speeds, oscillating fan directions and digital temperature controls.

I haven't really used the heater all that much as I bought the air conditioner to cool my home.

The be completely honest, the only regret I had with the purchase was that I didn't buy it earlier.

Never buy any portable aircon especially from Kogan they are a complete scam – It creates more heat than it puts out and can’t even cool at 3 x 3 meter room no joke the Aircon itself heats up so much with the pipe that’s included in that quarter of your room will be hot words cannot describe how much I hate this thing and now I’m stuck with that and can’t take it back they should be illegal to sell Deadset only cools up the… Read more

space that’s in front of it and hasn’t got the power of the cooler full room and with the negative pressure caused by the style of there is no way that I could ever cool the room down I really need to stop making these or someone needs to sue them how this isn’t considered. False Advertising when it does not do the job it’s intended to do it’s a joke anyone on this page giving it more than one star is full of nonsense honestly I wish I could give it zero stars because it doesn’t even deserve one they obviously have been paid or work for the company in someway because there’s no way anyone that buys one of these things will think it was a good purchase I really hope they completely ban these things from being sold rant out✌️

Good value for money, high quality – This is our first purchase of an air conditioner. It was a very good price ($379 + free postage) and was delivered within three days. The unit is quite heavy, but easily maneuverable as it is on sturdy castors. It has a modern, sleek design, and is manufactured to a high quality. The user manual was not helpful (poor English, with many confusing… Read more

sentences), but with some fiddling it was pretty straightforward to figure out. The window kit and slider is not long enough and is only suitable for sliding or sash windows, and does not fit casement windows (as we have), but we managed to improvise (it would have been helpful to know this beforehand, but was not mentioned in the product description or specifications online). It emits slightly more noise than the average pedestal fan. It runs efficiently and blows lovely, cold air, with three fan speeds and a swing vent. I’m not so keen on the vent facing toward the ceiling, and the swing function only allows it to blow slightly lower, but not straight ahead (it takes longer to cool high ceiling homes, as ours is). It would also be helpful to have longer exhaust tubing, and I think the mechanism for attaching the tubing to the round plastic connectors could be improved. The window kit slider needs to be longer to fit taller windows.

Overall, we are very happy with the unit, especially for the price, and could recommend it.

Great value for money – I was living in an old victorian rental house that had an old split system that didn't lower the temperature by more than a few degrees from outside & the Real Estate said there was nothing wrong with it! This Kogan A/C worked extremely well in a bedroom with 4m tall ceilings. Then I moved to another old house with 3m ceilings and was able to cool… Read more

the front 2 bedrooms (with the hallway curtained off) & it was amazing! When my daughter moved out, she had the same problem, with an A/C that supposedly worked well but didn't make much difference in her old house. This portable worked extremely well for both extremely hot & extremely cold conditions. Only issue was having to empty the tank often in winter so we bought a huge bucket for the tubing to drain into & problem solved! The swing on the vent no longer works but hasn't affected it's use. It is loud but worth it as it works so well.

Poor Quality Air Conditioner - Buyer Beware – Air Conditioner does not cool a 3 x 3 room at all and is extremely noisy. The only thing it did was give me a big headache. Only brag is portability – Due to price i was comparing these to built in wall aircon / heating. I purchased these for the bedrooms. Extremely loud and now winter is here heating doesnt last a night without the water tank needing emptying so wake up to the cold. Contacted kogan about it, not really any help. Wish i had seen comments on here before purchase stating that this is a "thing" for these. Show details

Great for a quick cool down during heatwaves – I've been using this unit to supplement my evaporative ducted system due to water restrictions. It's been great for cooling down rooms quickly. It's both quite & compact in comparison to many others offering 16,000 btu's. It does as advertised & great value for money. Show details

Does the job very well – Purchased this portable unit last summer and we have used it in our large master bedroom and out in our closed in patio. It does the job very well & helps us to sleep better at nights. Pretty good considering we are in Perth and it gets pretty hot! Didn't want to review it until we had used it enough to give an honest appraisal. Happy so far. Show details

Not as good as i thought – The cooling and dehumidifying on this works rather well but the heating not so much. I run at a very low body temperature and never owned an aircon before. I can see why the person sold it as their place is bigger than mine. My place is small but no way to close off the long hallway to the bedroom so i can get better heat. A metre from the aircon its cold as outside so i have to sit right next to it or put a blanket on myself on the couch Show details

Works Well – During summer, its pretty much ON all the time. So it copes well with high demand and extended usage. I am decently satisfied with the performance. I keeps my room relatively good during extreme summer as long as it is ON all the time. It can be loud at times so It can be annoying at night. During winter I use it as a fan which works well too. Show details

The WORST Portable Air Conditioner I have ever owned – I bought this in December 2018 and within 3 weeks i was getting a constant "FL" error, regardless of the fact EVERYTIME i went to empty the unit, there has either been NO water or at best a few ml. Here we are 5 months down the track and I am still having the same issue, i have tried to contact Kogan customer service, which have either not… Read more

replied or followed up to any of my inquiries, i have provided them a video of the issue which again was taken at 3:00am.

I can only recommend that you do not purchase this Portable Air Conditioner unless you like being woken up at 3:00am every morning or 2:00am or 1:00am with the piece of junk flashing the "FL" error despite there being no water in the reservoir.

I have had the air conditioner on the "Fan" setting and still had the same issue 2 minutes into it being on, i have had the heat setting running for 10 minutes to hopefully dry out or defrost the compressor and it still happens.

**Additional Information:** Kogan was given 48 hours to respond to this review, I have received no contact from them. Very disappointing, will most likely be the last time i buy from Kogan.

It’s just OK – It does the job for a 6m x 6m room. It’s quite noisey compared to other units I have owned. Oh bless The – We have this sitting up on our bench for our impractical designed rental house. We try and push its air as far as possible through our openended house with fans. an option. We have had it on all day and the tubing seemed to eventually throw off some heat but that could well also be the outside air temperature coming in somewhat. I love that it swings its vents and i can even manually direct the vents to my choosing at any moment. We havent used the heating or remote yet. Just chilling 17degrees air.

I am very grateful for this machine. And yes it is noisy-ish. (About as noisy as you hear machines.on the outside of houses sometimes) Some days i notice it bothering me slightly but who cares if its not as hoT.

Decent for my purpose, but build quality isnt the best – Bought the larger 4.1kw (14,000BTU) model off Kogan about 24 months ago. The 3 directional flaps which move broke down after 2 months (maybe 30 hours of usage) but I didn't deem it a big enough issue to contact Kogan about. I tried to use this to cool the lounge room which joins the kitchen which is about 35sq meters total which is more than the… Read more

30sq they advertise. Wasn't really able to feel much of a difference when i turned it on and off, so even though I used it for a bigger space than intended, I wouldn't trust it for a room as big as they rate it (30sqm).

Now I use it to cool my rear bedroom which is about 10-12 square meters. it does the job quickly for that size room. But it's very noisy compared to the in wall split system i have in the master bedroom. The sound kind of reminds me of an air compressor with ear muffs on. You get used to it, but its still loud. Like some others have mentioned the window seal is a little cheap. Would prefer it to be longer as there is about 5 inches at the top of the window that it doesnt cover.

Pros:

- cools well for a smaller room

- asthetically looks good (in my opinion)

- reasonably priced

Cons:

- Window seal isnt great

- loud for the bedroom but you get used to it. would be less of an issue in a smaller lounge room with tv noise cancelling it out etc, but definitely still noticeable.

- quality isnt great. Seems roughly build, and smaller components broke down within months.
