Can't break it – For such a cheap fridge I purchased years ago, it is still working, can hardly read the LED display it is so faded. Replaced broken catches with case catches, but it is still working perfectly. It has been everywhere I now used it for a drinks fridge on my patio it is a great spare fridge. I can't kill it. Love this fridge – Used this fridge for camping and travelling in the car, twice, great unit, works well on both 12v or 240,. Now surplus to requirements. Ideal for picnics or camping, keeps food cool. Show details
Disappointing outcome from kogan, expected better – Catches broken and couldn't get replacements. Went to minus 32 when trying to adjust the temperature and everything was frozen, couldn't adjust it. Found out how to fix it but now has to run at minus 4 just to keep cool. Not happy with the responses and now looking for a new one but not komodo. Show details
Piece of junk – This product is rubbish, it is unreliable as a refridgerator, no spare parts, it was used very infrequently. it no longer works. It is a peiceof junk in my opinion. This product was used in the boot of my car, home to shop to home during the summer of 2016 and a few times in 2017 and then failed in 2018. this unit was only used about 12 times in… Read more

Broken catch – In April 2018 I emailed Kogan to see if I could get a replacement catch -- sorry they've been deleted!! Thanks!!! Their customer service has got to be better than this! Also, I took it from Adelaide to Perth and it didn't seem to keep cold. Same thing just recently when I went from Adelaide to Alice Springs. Show details
Piece of Junk – Bought this fridge knowing it was perhaps not the best around. But I only needed it to work for 6 weeks on an outback 4x4 camping trip. I was then going to sell it along with my offroad camper. It lasted 2 weeks. Its a piece of junk thats all I can say about it. Show details
Service ?? – If fridge stuck on 40. Thermostat sensor no good. If you peel back sticker on digital controller you will see two screws. Loosen screws and lift up. Hopefully there is a spare sensor lead. I had same problem and found a spare. So before you throw out take a look. Show details
Fantastic warrant help & assistance – Our Komodo 42lt fridge/freezer is 6 months old & has been great, but one of the locking latches for the lid broke. I called Kogan & the process to get a replacement could not have been easier. The replacement part arrived 7 days later & took 3 minutes to replace. Thanks Kogan very happy result August 5th 2018 Update: Cheap crap my previous… Read more
review was good, not now
The thermostat is total erratic & unreliable. Randomly changes from Celsius to Fahrenheit & back again. Regularly bursting all glass bottles. The second lid clamp has also cracked.
December 5th 2018 Update: Second review & I've changed my mind... Its rubbish
The thermostat was very unreliable & keeps randomly going into DEEP freeze without warning, totally destroying any drinks or glass storage containers. The other lid hinge has also broken, very cheap plastic parts that don't need hard work to break them, the thermostat issues started about 12 months after purchase & I was too slack to chase up the warranty before it was too late
fantastic bye – The fridge freezer does a fantastic job cooling and freezing my food and drinks My fridge freezer is very easy to transport in the back of my Isuzu twin cab ute I store my food and drinks in the fridge/freezer when I go travelling with my caravan I couldn't be without it it's a gem Show details
Broken hinge – Can you buy replacement hinges for the 42 litre fridge.? Has snapped in half. Borrowed from a friend and need it replaced. Are there any replacement parts for these hinges? If not do any other hinges fit these fridges? Any help would be really appreciated at this time. Please help. Show details
Komodo Fridge Fault – Have had the fridge for some time and generally works well. However last week the fridge showed 40 deg and was operating but froze everything. I contacted Kogan cust. service and they sent me a routine to try, did not work.Went back to them and they sent the same routine but now the fridge is stuck on Er0 and does not operate. I have contacted… Read more
them numerous times since then and no reply. All I asked for was a tech service centre so I could take it there. This is the last time I deal with Kogan very frustrating as they are usually great.
December 29th 2017 Update: Komodo Fridge Fault
After waiting nearly two weeks for an answer to my simple question. Where can I get my Komodo fridge repaired. There is no repair agent as Kogan do not carry spares. In effect this means that if you buy a Komodo fridge when it breaks down you throw it away!!! There is no information provided at purchase that says the fridge cannot be repaired. I like others assumed that Kogan would have a service agent somewhere in Australia. My fridge is less than two years old with only a 12 month warranty. This makes the fridge a very expensive item to buy. I am waiting to see if there is a further response from Kogan but I am not holding my breath. If others are in the same boat please publish your experience here if there is enough of us perhaps Kogan might improve its performance in the future.
Great Product, plus problem – Works very well but the plug into power seems to become dislodged so fridge stops operating. Can anybody help? Also, is there a cover for the fridge? I would like to find out if there is a bracket available to hold the plug in place. Hope someone can help. Thanks Show details · 1
Great Little unit and perhaps misunderstood – I've had my Komodo Fridge/ Freezer now for a year. Yes I know there have been concerns about error messages and eg Err1 when plugged into car lighter socket. After frustrating attempts to get it working after turning on and seeing the internal temperature for a moment before turning to an err1 message I decided to google Komodo 42 Litre Fridge… Read more
Freezer and DOWNLOAD THE MANUAL.
What a brilliant thought. Not much listed on two pages BUT a very useful bit of information that led me to change the little switch behind the Plug spot ( M.H.L) that was on H for high to M for medium. So what was brilliant about that? Well It now draws less demanding power the Eco red light stays on and the temperature cooling has worked well ever since. I've never had a problem on Mains power but the car usage did cause issues till my discovery. So there it is. I really can't complain and it certainly is not Crap as others have said. Perhaps they didn't bother to check settings and dismissed it as useless. It suggests the owner needs to be thorough in monitoring that little switch because it is easy to be moved back to H in the middle and then you might have problems again in your vehicle.

It's done well till now – When we going shopping we plug it in before we go in to shop and by the time were back its down to the temp set 3 to 4, even on hot days its a lot better than putting the milk frozen food etc in a hot car. Very happy with this as the other products I have got from kogan have been crap! like the tv, vac, whipper sniper, hedge trimmer. now it just… Read more

Pretty good for the price – I have one of these fridge freezers. Used over xmas as a freezer for week -18 C never missed a beat. Took on trip along great ocean rd for 2 weeks as a fridge set to +1C worked perfect. was used on battery during the day and plugged in at night. Only down side i found is that it can be a tad noisy but not bad enough to hate. Draws bout 4.7amps on… Read more
high and 2.9amps on low down to temp of +1C ambient bout 25C ambient. Solid evap plate is better then popular brands with pressed alloy just my opinion. Would buy another if it did break but no signs of breaking. Paid $300 when on sale plus think $30 shipping. Just wait for sale. Would rate it 5 if tad lower on dB.
Warranty a waste of time – This fridge is suitable only as an additional fridge, not the one you depend on. The lid on mine was buckled so the catch couldn't be fastened. Kogan took several weeks of discussion before deciding the fridge should be returned to Melbourne. Then they take 14 working days to make an assessment - I am still waiting. They have no spare parts or… Read more
replacement fridges so the only option will be a refund - I wait in hope.
The fridge does cool but as others have pointed out the insulation is poor and no cover is available. I have several Waeco fridges none of which have ever had a problem. When it comes to Kogan it's a case of BUYER BEWARE.
Kogan Komodo Fridge is rubbish – Had mine for about 18 months, bought it from Kogan, attracted by price, but unfortunately got what I paid for. Last time I went to use it refused to work, red "power" & "eco/max" lights are on, but nothing else. No temperature display no compressor or fan noise. Checked fuse. Only used 4 times. Basically cheap rubbish. Learnt a lesson.
Exactly as advertised - great for the price – This might not suit your road warrior but for me I was looking for a cheap fridge. Metal housing is flimsy but serviceable especially if you are the careful type of person. At -10 you can feel the the outside is cool to touch so the insulation is not that great but I will add some bubble wrap sizilation to improve the insulation and protect the… Read more
metal housing.
I've only just opened it so no word on the reliability (they were only asking $68 for a 4 year warranty extension so it must be pretty good) or current draw. I might do a test on my 7ah SLA battery to see what it's like and update this later.
The main issue I have is that the control is not that responsive and doesn't display well what the settings are so it took me a few reads of the manual and some trial and error to figure it out.
At $350 delivered I can buy 4 of these to 1 Engel fridge.
2/3/17 update
I've now had the fridge for a couple of years now and here is my evaluation.
1. Power supply issues appear to have been the cause of all my problems. If you have the switch on high well the fridge will go into error mode. Make sure it's on medium or low of you have auxiliary battery. The cable going to the rear of your car is just too small and the voltage drops below the cut out especially when the compressor starts giving you most of the errors.
2. Cigarette sockets are not reliable connections. I have upgraded to 50 amp Anderson plugs and now the power doesn't get accidentally disconnected or provide a loose connection with a high voltage drop and therfore an error.
3. The lid clips will always break. The clip design is astounding bad, expect them to fail. I have bought more for $10 each but I expect these to fail as well. I will search for a better replacement from Bunnings or on eBay.
