Kogan Wireless Rear View Reversing Camera Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: KARVSRCAMRAHi. Does anyone know how to disable/ remove the grid lines from the camera
Can I connect the camera wirelessly to my iPhone?
No.
Can you change a wireless camera to a hard wired camera
I am confused have a wiresless 4.3 rear view reverse camera. Instructions are very vague and wiring diagram is confusing. I get that the rear camera transmitter must be wired to the backing lights. As for the mirror the receiver has a splitter providing 12 volts to the mirror. What I am confused by is in the diagram the receiver is showing wires to backing lights. I take it these are not needed as the unit is wireless and why would one want to run wires to the back the care as this defeats the object of the exercise
My reverse camera is showing it upside down his can it be fixed????
Why is the language display showing backward?
page thru the Menu on screen and press up/down to cycle through the options and press menu again to select it. you have to be quick as the default wait time is 2 seconds or less (I don't know how to make it longer -- yet) HTH Jun
I think you've selection the option is 'reverse (by accident)
got a green colored wire that says 'connect to astern' what does it do and where do I connect it? There's also a male RCA (yellow), where does it go?
ahh.. the green connects to the handbrake light and the male RCA from a video source (i.e. DVD, etc.) so you can watch a movie on screen and not whilst driving Right?
so I gather the green wire can be left not connected to anything and the system shall work as a reverse camera only?
Hi. I have the Kogan wireless camera in my motorhome. I want the camera to be live always (have installed a rocker switch to override power manually when required as on the “house” battery not vehicle battery). The rocker is negative and positive on their place and the third pin is the “supply” which is activated by the switch on position and connected to the positive of the screen wire cluster. The negative goes back to battery.
I have the rear camera and the sender and the yellow and red all hooked up. I have lights on the camera for night vision so I know it’s working. I have blue led light on sender unit. Pos and neg connected to house battery
I have the receiver good to go with a red led light and the pos and neg connected to the house battery.
I have the screen selected to av2 and blue screen with no signal. There is no massive distance between units and that is all ok.
I have one wire not connected and it is the green wire (this is in the cluster with the red black v2 and v1 yellow connectors). I assume that green should be connected to the red positive in the same cluster if ignoring the reverse activation rule? Or it might be a earth? Not keen to try until advised. Apart from that all is ok.... I know this has something to do with reverse activation just not sure how to bypass.
I I think it is the hand brake switch wire which needs to be shorted to earth. I believe it is so you can’t watch DVDs whilst the car is moving the handbrake must be on.
I gave up and threw the item out. As you can see been fighting with this item since day one. Such a lack of instruction is hard to juggle.
Can i get a receiver for my for my kodan 7 inch mirror rear vision kit
My screen doesn't turn off when you moves out of reverse. It show a permanent No Signal screen. Not suppose to turn it on and off automatically with the reverse?
Please go to my comments June 2019 and connect red wire from screen direct to camera power at rear of car or under dash if power can be found there. This will give power to the screen direct from reverse light power. John Scott
But that’s not the idea of a wireless camera
I connected the rig up as per the instructions and powered it up with a battery on my test bench. The red and blue transmitter lights are on but the camera will not turn on with the switch on the mirror. Is this because the transmitters are too close to each other
I have purchased and have fitted a Kogan rear vision reversing camera for my Ford Fairlane car , I now wish to purchase an additional camera for the front of the car. The system has the rear vision on AV2 , the front camera would then operate from AV1. It is a wireless system. Can I purchase a camera for the front of the vehicle?
I have a kogan reversing camera. It worked fine for about 6 months. Now it sporadically works, but when it does I get "ghosting" and very poor picture, almost unusable. If someone walks behind the car, they show only faintly, as if a ghost. Anyone have a solution to this? I have had it checked out by a couple of different mechanics, and they both say it is connected correctly.
Hi Vin, I contacted Kogan when my unit failed and they refunded my money and told me, no need to send the unit back. Although I bought an alternative unit, I think very highly of Kogan for the "no questions asked refund".
Before installing in the car l connected the camera to a battery on my test bench as per the instructions. Both transmitters show red and blue lights, However the camera will not switch on. Is it because the Transmatters are too close
My Kogan reverse camera was installed by a licensed auto-electrician and worked brilliantly for about 6 months. Now it only comes on when I start the car, or sometimes intermittently. Otherwise it shows interference and then 'No Signal'. I'm v disappointed because the unit is not cheap to install. What do you think the problem is? Linda
Hi Linda B, I am a technician and installed it myself and it worked fine for several days, then suddenly stopped working 'no signal messages". The good news is when I reporter the problem to Kogan, they offered me a refund and told me they didn't want the defective unit back. Problem solved for me, except you paid for the installation. If you write to Kogan, they will probably replace the unit.
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond, cheers Linda
My work involves taking numerous photos of gravel roads. At the moment, I physically get out of my car, take the photo with my ipad, get back in the car and compare the photo to one that has been taken by someone else. If it’s not correct, I have to do the procedure repeatedly until I have it correct. This is a pain in the neck (not to mention I’m working in 45º+ temperatures). Is there a device on a lead I can connect to the front of my car, plug into the ipad and take the photos from inside my car? Would a reversing camera work? Would it give good still shots? Any help you can give me will be much appreciated.
My Kogan reversing camera suddenly lost wireless communication though both, transmitter and receiver show a light (powered up). does this unit need to be paired and if so, how?
Hi. Another problem! The mirror for the reverse camera is too heavy that bring down the rear view mirror of my Subaru forester as it was attached to the rear view mirror. It dropped while i was driving so now have to find way to re-attach the mirror and not sure where can i put the camera screen so not to drop again. Trung
I have one of these cameras and appears to work well when in reverse, however when not in reverse I get a blue screen advising "no signal". Camera working from power from reversing lights and monitor/mirror working on power from head unit interior lights. Transmitter from camera only powers up when in reverse but receiver at monitor/mirror is powered up at all times. Any ideas?
Hi Adrian it's easy to fix that problem go into the function menu and select V2 , ( you must have V1 selected which is for wired signal ) this should make the screen come on only when it receives a signal from the sender unit eg when you put your car in reverse Cheers
No that did not work, on V2 we either had the camera shot when vehicle in reverse or blue screen "no signal" message at all other times. Finally fixed it by running the power wire for mirror/monitor through all the trim to get to the reverse selector on the transmission. This also eliminated the issue of having the receiver (and monitor) powered on at all times.
The camera is powered by the car reversing lights when reverse gear is selected, so when car not in reverse camera is not powered, hence the blue screen and "no signal" displayed. Interior lights are powered constantly.
Yes I understand that. That is why I needed to find a power source for the mirror/monitor that only powered up when vehicle is in reverse.
Just had one of these installed, wireless, and its not working too consistently. No signal and blue screen etc . Will the wired installation avoid the assortment of problems and work better?
Yes it would but first you should try to re locate the sender unit at the back it may save you having to run extra wiring
I bought one of these but found that in wireless mode, as per the manual, powering the camera doesn't switch it on. Kogan replaced it but the new one is the same. I connect power to the display and receiver, then to the camera. Nothing. If I press the power button it gives a blue screen "no signal" until I power the camera and displays video. When I remove camera power I get the blue screen again - not a mirror. That's not what the manual says will happen. Has anyone managed to use this in wireless mode - toggling between camera view and mirror?
It works as stated in wired mode. When I connect the blue wire, it switches on and shows rear view.
Hi Bob The camera needs to be connected to the transmitter via the red and yellow plugs and the transmitter connected to power normally the reverse lights so it powers up when in reverse make sure that you select V2 on the screen .
Hi Suds Thanks. I have red and black from the display connected to positive and negative, red and black from the receiver connected to positive and negative. Receiver connected to V2 input of display and camera connected to sender using both red and yellow connectors (power and video).
When I connect the camera sender to positive and negative nothing happens. At this stage it should be working.
If I then connect the blue wire to positive (shouldn't be needed in wireless mode), the image appears. If I disconnect the blue wire, it's a mirror again.
Leaving the blue wire aside, if I manually switch on the display, I get an image. When I disconnect the camera sender red wire, I get a blue screen and 'No signal' - not a mirror. I get the mirror again if I manually switch off the display.
There is only one way to connect the pieces together by design.
My testing of this shows that wireless mode works but it still needs the blue wire powered to wake up the display. Powering the sender won't do it.
I suspect the design is faulty so my question was if anyone else has gotten one of these to work in wireless mode with the display turning on when the sender (camera end) is powered (without needing to connect the blue wire or use the remote). I was hoping there is some undocumented 'sleep' or 'listen' mode.
There are also some issues with vibration causing blur and falling off when trying to adjust the mirror angle but one problem at a time:)
Many thanks for your help.
