KTM 300 EXC

Loads of grunt – The 300 is the King of 2 strokes with huge grunt that can be adjusted with different springs to suit your riding style. I've found the bike to be very reliable and easy to work on. Like any bike you need to clean filters and change oil regularly for optimal performance. The suspension works really well for enduro and trail riding once set up properly. The bike is very light and nimble. Show details
KTM 300 exc TPI six days – Reviewed by 54 year old experienced rider. NSW Australia I loved every ride on my previous 300 for 10 years so decided to continue with the same and ordered a 2018 KTM 300 TPI Six Days. A brave move as there was not even a hint of pricing prior to ordering. Upon arrival the quality of manufacture was top shelf as expected with no faults… Read more
observed. Electrics plugs appear to be quality and should keep the dust and moisture out. This is important considering the electrics involved in the fuel injection.
This bike rides like a perfectly jetted 2 stroke should under ALL conditions. Power is linear through out the rev range giving you confidence to open the throttle. The motor does not bog down even if given full throttle from idle. It just powers away. Suspension is plush without wallowing (a had the bike correctly sprung to my weight). No head shake has been detected thus far and the steering is super precise on single trail and technical riding. Brakes are up to the Brembo KTM standard with the six days having a solid rear giving it more feel in snotty terrain. On its first ride with the boys, the 300 TPI used about 1/3rd less fuel than my mates KTM 200. Super happy with this as it means I should get good range out of the 9L tank. One of the biggest differences I notice from the older models is the addition of a counter balance shaft. This has reduced the 2 stroke vibration significantly. The bike gives the appearance of reving much lower than it is due to the lack of vibration.
Conclusion. Biggest smile ever !!! no regrets other than the bank balance. This bike cost 17K + by the time I added all the protection etc I wanted.
Sex machine – This is the latest big bore two stroke offering from KTM- The legendary 2015 EXC 300 and to ice the two stroke cake there is a Sixdays option. This year it's Argentina's turn to be the country to wear the Sixdays graphics kit (and to hold the world Sixday enduro) The Sixdays comes loaded with extras, 90% of which you would in reality buy anyway… Read more · 1
as most are some form of engine/exhaust/frame protection but what your really barring up about is the famed 4CS forks..one word PlushO.
At 104kg it feels like your riding a school gxxL through the bush its that light and nimble! (feels good and it's legal!)
The electric start is another major bonus for those quick restarts on killer hills with out putting your feet down.
If there was a complaint it would be the factory jetting/carb settings.
My bike leaked fuel from the overflow on delivery (more a dealer issue, float height) but the bike was waaay too rich and took a fair bit of jetting/time to get right but when the stars aligned and its cutting trails ie tight single tracks :-)) Damn it goes like a stabbed rat.
Over all its an ultra developed enduro weapon -the complete package.
As a bonus the engine power delivery is very tunable between a choice of 3 power valve springs and a duel ignition map.
A four stroke would have been easier to just jump on and ride (cue EXC 500 Sixdays) but nothing beats that brrrap!
Two strokes are so cheap to rebuild compared to a four stroke (think wallet Armageddon) that if your going to keep her for a while its the only way to go.
I'm happy :)
Excellent – This bike has reenergised me again, the mapping button and streering dampener make this the best bike i have riden, just hang on!!!!! Out of corner speed!!! This Bike eats my old fully worked 525 for breakfast. Suspension is great and the brakes are the best i have ever used! Standard handle bar height, i needed another 30mm, standard seat is too hard
