Kubota ZD Series Zero Turn Lawn Mowers

Excellent Machine – We have upgraded to a larger property, house block has 5 acres to mow. Have upgraded from a Toro timecutter HD 48 to the Kubota 1211-60-2-AU. The kubota is a an amazing machine, comfortable heaps of grunt and quick as you like. I couldn’t be more happy with this investment, it’s the best money I have ever spent on a mower by far.

Best of All I have owned – This is a very good zero turn mower. It is in the commercial section and is up there with price but better than all opposition for good design and durability. Shaft drive mowing deck got me interested eliminating an expensive belt then a "wet" clutch got me in further and Hydraulic deck lift and to top it of was the famous reliable and durable diesel engine puting all that torque in the blades where you need it. I mean top of the line Toro and Husky put Kubota diesel motors in theirs!! Fuel consumption is also very low. Construction is SOLID built for the long term and dedicated service points for getting the most out of it. This model has a wide rear wheel track giving stability and front wheel design pivot gives a smoother ride and the jacking system a bonus for getting under the deck. I have come from Toro Titan 54" and a JD 320X both good machines but this is in another class and not a fair comparison and will be the last mower I own. I live on 40 acres and mow bout 5 as "lawn" then tractor with flail does the heavy "bush" blady grass and whisky grass.

Only concerns :- Weight :- at 740 KG wet gullies and dam edges need more caution (considering a more aggressive tread tire) No Lighting :- but will be easily fixed with a aftermarket light bar Price :- Justifying value over time and fit for purpose and life cycle. Considered :- Kubota ZD 1011 slightly smaller 4k cheaper and Husky "out front" but not diesel.

If you mow more than 3 acres this is the mower for you .....splash the cash and enjoy a beautiful sprawling lawn with comfort and ease for many years.

Best Mower ever – ZD18 is brilliant being totally reliable, robust and efficient. My 2 acres now takes about 1 hour where before it took all day on a Sweedish ride on which experienced repeated breakdowns. The mowing task is a joy with zero turn indispensable. Steep slopes are also able to be traversed with confidence. Date of purchase a guestimate only.

Great mower providing you are aware of design shortcommings – I am a mowing contractor with 1000 hours on my 2005 ZD18.So far I have replaced 1 deck bearing + the usual maintenance items at regular service intervals. Good features, manoeuvrability ,power, speed, shaft drive deck, easy maintenance if you modify the foot plate for easy removal, comfortable if you run 10psi and anti puncture in the front tyres. Be aware with all zero turns, you are a passenger without rear wheel grip, e.g. it won't turn! Very easily bogged and be careful on slopes, if you make aggressive turns it will leave bald spots from the inside tyre. Overall an excellent mower.
