L'Oreal Paris Excellence Crème 5 Natural Brown

I wrote a review a year or so ago when the formula changed. It didn’t colour my hair. I tried it again recently and this time instead of the number 5 brown it turned out jet black!! After reading these reviews I see I am not alone in my experience. I wonder if l’Oreal even bother to read these reviews- it seems they don’t care. Show details

Loreal what have you done to the formula!? I have been happily using the same box for 5 years and all of a sudden, the colour isn't colouring anything. Won't cover greys, it's too thick to apply, and why is it green? Show details

I have used this product for many years and was always happy with it. However it is now very thick and difficult to get out of the bottle and onto hair.I have tried shaking it for longer but to no avail. The last few times I have used the dye it hasn’t even covered my hair completely. Sadly I will be now charging to another brand. Show details

Terrified of your new formula – Why go and change a good thing? I’ve used this product for fiteen years. Now it’s terrible. The box says the formula is the same even though the packaging has changed. That’s an outright lie. It smells foul. I panicked and washed it out after twelve minutes. My hair is black now. I used the entire conditioner on my shoulder length hair and it feels like straw nonetheless. What have you done to your loyal clients? How can I ever trust you again?

Disappointed in application and colour – I have been using Loreal Excellence 5.0 for 10 years. Past experience has been great. Good Grey coverage of roots which matched the rest of the hair length. acid, I was very disappointed. Thick grey/green sludge that would not come out of the bottle easily. I tipped it out into a bowl in the end and used my tinting brush to apply it. I also had a slightly uncomfortable burning sensation while it was developing. My roots are now a lighter colour than the rest of my hair. What a shame. I will be looking for a different brand of hair colour, unless Loreal goes back to old formula.

Not good – It doesn't seem to take on the grey hair very well, they look like blond highlights, but the rest of the hair looks black, instead of brown. Also my hair looks really dry, I used the shampoo and the conditioner and the leave-in mask I always apply when I comb my hair and when my hair dried it was dry and puffy. I won't be buying again. Gloves made for a child! – Really?! Child size gloves?! The cheapest yet most frustrating part of the product and you choose to size them for a child? Seriously incredibly frustrating trying to squeeze hand in, rip a glove them race around the house trying to find spare cleaning gloves. Just exhausting. Don’t waste your time. Show details

Why new formulation? – I have been using the brown colour for over ten years. The new formulation caused some irritation of my scalp initially. I colour every 4 weeks. Since using the new formulation, my hair is falling out more than usual so that I have regrowth fine hair about 4cm long. Have asked L’Oreal for advice and await their reply. No longer covers greys! – I have used this product for around 15yrs with perfect grey coverage between colours at the hair salon. This week I purchased and noticed the packaging has changed and also the product seemed more runny than normal. And after dying my hair not once but twice, and the second time leaving on for 50mins on my roots... I STILL HAVE GREY ROOTS!! Very disappointed with the product change and will be trying other products in future.

Colour of hair changed from brown to black – Ordered for medium brown and received the same as per the packaging but as I used the product it turns my hair black instead of brown. Really very disappointed as it is money killing, time killing and of course hair killing
