Cheap but Exceptional – We as a family of four adults have been using Aldis Laundrite Laundry Liquid 2L for at least the past 15 years in both top-loader and front-loader Fisher Pykel machines. I reckon that if the product was no good we would not have kept using it as my wife is very particular about the quality of our washing - it has to be a very good product. Show details

Skin rashes and hives over kittens – I recently used this product for washing pet blankets down at stables. My pedigree kittens broke out in hives and rashes all over body. Cat had serious reaction / hives around ears and eyes. Lucky I put two and two together and removed/ rewashed blankets and they improved.

Causes irritation – Bang for buck no frills detergent but be aware this is not great for people with sensitive skin such as myself also if you use cold water exclusively this will cause the dreaded black scrud build up inside the washing maching drum and leave your clothes with black scruds all over them, so either use it with hot water or do not use it at all if you prefer using cold water to wash your clothes. Show details

Weak detergent – I use a Miele W1 PowerWash front loader which requires HE (High Efficiency) detergents to prevent over sudsing. My machine had trouble producing suds at all with the recommended dose of 1/2 cup in hard water. Yes, that’s 1/2 cup, not 1/2 cap. I ended up using twice the recommended dose and it only just looked better than plain water. The small… Read more

print on the rear bottle label states: ‘Do not use for washing delicates, silk, wool’. I get the silk and wool warning but delicates?

I gave this detergent a try on the recommendation of a friend who has read rave reviews.I beg to differ.

Do not waste your money. You get what you pay for with laundry detergents.

Miele laundry detergents are superb but not cheap. That is the reason I tried the Aldi detergent; to save my Miele TwinDos liquid detergents for stubborn stains.

OK for the price but slightly more expensive detergents are worth the extra $ – I'd been using Almat liquid detergents for years and about half a year ago a relative overloaded their washing machine so I had to take the machine to an appliance mechanic. The mechanic recommended pre-dissolving powdered detergent in hot water before adding the detergent to the machine's detergent draw instead of using liquid detergents. The… Read more

mechanic said buying liquid detergent is basically paying a premium for detergent with added water and fragrance so you don't have to dilute the detergent down yourself for an optimised clean. The fragrance can mask how clean laundry is, if you've left clean laundry in a dry location for a few months and find it reeks later it may be the laundry wasn't clean at all and once the fragrance from detergent wore off you can smell just how dirty the laundry is!

I decided to try a few different liquid and powder detergents to see what if any difference(s) there were.

In high efficiency front loading LG WD13020D1 and WV5-1408W washing machines I use at most half the recommended dose of detergent as using the recommended amount of detergent I suspect results in detergent residue being left in the laundry after cycle completion on shorter cycles with one or few rinses.

Considering the above maybe that is why other reviewers had allergy issues but given the very low percentage of listed active ingredients in this detergent I'm surprised such a weak detergent can cause allergic reactions for so many people. Maybe people are overdosing their laundry per the recommended dosage instructions or using even more detergent than the recommended amounts.

It could also be a case of one of the inexpensive ingredients used in this detergent being prone to causing allergic reactions.

If you have a machine with an extra rinse option (rinse+ on some models) you might be able to use that option with the recommended amount of detergent for better cleaning performance and hopefully have the laundry come out free of detergent residue. I don't think washing performance was any better when using the recommended amount of detergent vs half dosage.

I had to use the detergent in recommended or greater dosage to have any apple scent left in washing and while I don't have sensitive skin on a few occasions I did itch but I couldn't conclusively say this was due to the detergent.

In my opinion it is better value to buy the Almat Laundry Powder Concentrate and premix the desired amount of detergent with 1 cup hot water in a jug, mix with a spoon then add the dissolved detergent and water mixture to the washing machine.

The cleaning ability of this detergent is very average and really only good for lightly soiled clothes, for moderate to heavily soiled laundry you're going to need a better detergent and/or pre-treating.

Horrendous stuff – This product causes skin irritation and an all over red rash. Appalling stuff. I have had no reaction to other detergents I have used. I think it should be illegal.

Be careful causes allergic reactions – Got hives all over my arms, my thighs and stomach when I washed my clothes with this detergent. I don’t have a problem with any other laundry detergents only this one. Never had allergies with anything until I used this product. I don’t have sensitive skin, but something in this product is harsh that it causes an allergic reaction on my skin. I… Read more

don’t shop at Aldi for this reason now. Best to stick to brands not sold by Aldi. Even their food can’t be trusted, I bought Tzaziki (unopened and completely sealed) but when I opened it there was mould.

Skin Reaction – This is shocking. Massive skin reaction from this product. Rashes and hives all over back, both shoulders, parts of stomach, both arms. It shouldn't be on the shelf. I know 4 others that react the same to this poor product.

Eczema and allergy skin- this stuff was great on my daughter's skin – I tried more than 20 different brands, including some very expensive ones from allergy websites. Even tried making my own clothes detergent- bad idea. Then I found this. The only one that didn't make her complain/cry/strip off her clothes. Aldi doesn't advertise it as good for Sensitive eczema skin, but it certainly was in our experience. … Read more

...I still have boxes of other detergent in the cupboard that we opened and couldn't use because of my daughter's sensitive eczema.

Thank goodness for this. Good price too.

Concern about packaging – That's a lot of plastic. Can it be made out of what long life milk containers are made out of? With a handle similar and rectangle. Concerned about the environment.

Think hard – Ive been using this for a couple of years now basically because its cheap and works most of the time We have a small washer now that we are on our own just 2 of us. I found it great! – Our Aldi opens tomorrow, but I bought this on an interstate trip... I have to say that efficiency and cost is in the eye of the beholder... or rather - in the hardness of your water! I thought it was crap when I bought it in Sydney, and had to use more than recommended. I used it when I got home to Adelaide, and found the same amount way too… Read more

sudsy. I can do a full load of light soiled clothes on two tablespoons, here. Just depends on your water and washer. The fragrance is a bit cloying after a while and has the downside of attracting bees to the washing on the line. However, I found it did an excellent job in the Onkaparinga district water supply. I will purchase again, but I won't use it every time. I found it left the towels nice and soft with my usual vinegar rinse, and the vinegar helped to strip away some of the fragrance.

Beats Dynamo.

Correct dosage for this product is at least 2 cups for your average 6kg washer - NOT CHEAP! – The dosage instructions on the Laundrite Liquid label say 1/3 cup for light loads and 2/3 cup for heavy loads. Aldi claims a cost of 6c per wash based on the 1/3 cup dosage. Well I say: "What a lot of hogwash" This is deliberate and deceptive misrepresentation of this product by Aldi. After continually testing this product to ascertain just… Read more

how much is required for a modern 5kg machine I have found that you would require at least 1 cup of Laundrite costing 18c per wash. For your average 6-7kg machine you would need up to 2 cups of Laundrite at a cost of up to 36c per wash and that is getting very expensive.

A single dose for brand name laundry detergents such as Surf or Fab is sufficient for a 6-7kg washer so for a 5kg washer you only need about half their dose. At $3.50 per 1kg of Surf Laundry Powder (Woolworths, BiLo & Coles) that equates to just 8c per wash (Laundrite 18c) for a 5kg machine and about 16c (Laundrite 36c) for a 7kg machine. Now that is real economy.

So if you think you are buying cheap when you buy Aldi's Laundrite Liquid you are making a very, very BIG Mistake! Buy Surf from Coles or Woolies if you want great value and a good wash result.

PS I rang Aldi to alert them about this product's ineffectiveness and the deceptive dosage instructions. All they could say is to return the product for a refund. This is why I found it necessary to write this review. You deserve to know the truth about such bad products.

November 19th 2017 Update: Getting so diluted now that its useless even as a hand wash

Laundrite Liquid was once a half decent product but Aldi has diluted this product so much over the last couple of years in the name of profit that it has become useless. So it has actually become very expensive to use. You need to use at least one cup (250ml) per wash. That equates to just 8 washes per bottle. Thats a huge 19c per wash! And thats even if you find it does anything at all. I have been using Landrite as a handwash for the last 3 years. Initially I had to dilute it. Now I find I am using much more and it can no longer clean my hands properly! How is it supposed to wash dirty clothes???

By the way - this product is still selling in Aldi as of the date of this review. Don't know why its marked as discontinued. Leaves nice apple fragerance in washed items but doesnt last very long. So weak that it makes a good, economical hand soap. Totally ineffective at the recommended dosage. Misrepresented dosage instructions - requires 3 to 6 times the suggested dosage making this product very expensive to use. Deliberate and misleading advertising by Aldi suggesting a cost of 6c per wash when in reality it costs up to 36c per wash.

I love Laundrite! – I actually just started using ALDI's Laundrite for a few weeks now but so far as a consumer I'm very satisfied with the product. I previously used Coles liquid detergent. It works exactly the same but Laundrite has more refreshing apple fragrance and it is a tad cheaper (around 50c cheaper) whereas Coles liquid detergent smells like family soap. I… Read more

think it works best with ALDI AncoSoft fabric softener. It makes your laundry smells really nice for longer, softer, easier to fold and material can last longer especially if it's cheap clothes or other delicate material.

The problem is just with the instruction. I think it's a bit ambiguous and possibly misleading. But I find people do their laundry without seeing the instruction anyway as they already know how much to put in so it's really not a problem for me or people that don't pay too much attention with instructions. I always put 1 cup of detergent plus 1 cup of softener and they are magical combination. Thanks ALDI Very cheap, smells really nice and fresh, gentle for skin, refreshing apple fragrance lasts on clothes, works well with stains Getting bored of apple fragrance, instruction is a bit misleading

Excellent product at a very economical price – I thought that I would give the Aldi LaundRite Liquid a try as it was very well priced. sparkling and fresh. Also great on greasy grills, pots etc.

In addition, this product is the only laundry detergent that I have encountered to be gentle on my skin if it inadvertently comes into direct contact.

Thanks Aldi for this great detergent! Economical and effective

Good – This is a great laundry liquid which I have been using for the past couple of years. It is so low priced, and for me, it works really well. I use only about 80% of a cup and fill the rest with water and its been working great! I absolutely love this liquid detergent, just wish it came in another fragrance too. I picked this one up from Aldi… Read more ·  1

because it was extremely low priced and I have been using it ever since. It would be nice to have a different fragrance, I am getting a bit sick of Apple Fresh, anything else would be a great change.
