Lavazza Qualita Oro

I have been using Lavazza Oro coffee for many years but of late the quality has gone down. There was a time when the aroma of freshly brewed coffee would permeate the kitchen. Now there is no aroma. There was a time when the taste of the coffee would be like gold as the name on the wrapper suggests but no longer. Unfortunately, I purchased a 4… Read more
pack which I'm now contemplating throwing out. I am unsure if this is simply a bad batch of coffee beans or if the company has sourced cheaper coffee beans, but it no longer is the " GOLD" standard of coffee.
Atrocious Coffee ☕. Very disappointed in both Costco & Woolies for selling rubbish coffee such as Coffex, Vittoria & Lavazza. Don't pay $60 for rubbish coffee called Vittoria, I recently discovered 2 awesome coffee ☕ beans you can buy from cherry beans cafe in Carnes Hill & Three stores coffee from the Coffee ☕ club in the Westfield Liverpool.… Read more
The coffee club sells an awesome fresh coffee for $40 a kilo & Cherry beans cafe in Carnes Hill sells another good coffee ☕ for $45 a kilo. You do get what you pay for.
Consistently Good – Excellent taste, smooth and consistent. My go to coffee beans. Recently rated highly by Canstar taste test. Bought again after trying Lavazza espresso barista intenso which is rubbish by comparison. Go for gold! Show details
Undrinkable Lavazza Gran Reserva – This is about the not-listed Lavazza Gran Reserva (whitish bag). I challenge anybody to find a worse tasting and smelling coffee: just bitter without any aroma. I'll try using it as fertiliser in the garden in the hope it won't kill my plants... Show details
Funky taste and not in a good way – Some off funky flavour. It never used to have this but it tastes like it's made with Robusta beans entirely. I bought a kilo, couldn't finish it. Show details
Something has changed – I feel the ORO coffee has changed.. I feel the quality has slipped lately, in my Delonghi coffee machine not had one coffee that isn’t bitter, have adjusted the temperature, made no difference. I have used Lavazza for 10 years or so .. sadly looking at other brands . Show details
NEW BATCH GONE DOWNHILL – NEW BATCH GONE DOWNHILL. Once my favorite, till June 2023 , and now I need to find another bean sad,,, Show details
Easily the best beans I’ve tried – They taste exactly how a coffee should taste. Haven’t had a bad brew yet. 10/10 Show details
The best vac coffee money can buy! – Lavazza Qualita Oro is without doubt the best ground vac supermarket coffee money can buy! consistent outstanding great flavor quality coffee at a reasonable price. Show details
Used to be terrific. Not any more – Made in a plunger. Was frothy creamy smooth and no bitter taste on the pallet. Purchased some recently..completely different. Not pleasant at all. Unfortunately cannot recommend this product. If whatever brought on the change can be reversed. Will buy again. Show details

Lavazza Qualita ORO Ground Coffee red label – The label has changed, and the taste of my favorite coffee has changed. It now has a bitter dark roast after-taste. No longer smooth and buttery. I have ordered from various suppliers who advertise the solid red label, but always receive the new label....and bitter flavor. Deeply disappointed. Show details

Beans too hard to grind – Used Oro without problems, but the last batch would not grind fine enough to hold pressure in the expresso machine. I tried 2 different grinders myself (to eliminate the possibility of a hardware problem) but then when speaking to a friend I discovered they were experiencing the same issue, which confirmed my suspicions that the most likely a… Read more
fault was with the beans. I contacted Lavazza to find out if there was a way to get the beans to work anyway, but they didn't bother replying to my email. I now wonder that if Lavazza have quality control how these beans hit the supermarket shelves. I have subsequenty changed brands and that solved my problems.
Best traditional supermarket coffee – Years ago I tried all the standard supermarket coffees in my espresso machine, and concluded Lavazza was the best, and Oro was one of their better types. I do try the super expensive ones that come around, and a few are better, but not all, with the price of Lavazza being very competitive /good value. Important to note that the grind size makes a… Read more
huge difference. I strongly recommend the bean over pre ground if you aren't getting good results. It took a while to find the perfect size (different again for my new machine) but well worth the trouble.

Very smooth & delicate coffee – I recently tried Lavazza Oro and was positively surprised. For a long time I was looking for that perfect Italian cup of espresso: not too acidic, earthy, bitter or too much caffeine perfectly balanced. Found that in this blend. It produces a coffee with a beautifull golden crema and a pleasant coffee taste. Truely happy with this coffee. Show details
Great all rounder – Medium roast, easy drinking style which will appease most coffee drinkers if used as a double shot. Best for cafe latte lovers. What I like in a morning coffee is good caffeine hit without a strong roast that blows my palate away. It's nice to have two or three coffees without having the shakes afterwards. Show details
Just not the same – I wrote a good review about Lavazza oro 8 years ago , not anymore , does not smell like coffee after the beans have been ground . Show details
acceptable to be called coffee – i bought the beans and use my auto machine, the taste is moderate light, i usually buy a much darker blend. only bought it at half $30 price well its not as good as the coles branded beans $12 i like(coles was out of stock) let say it's like drinking a watery beer when you like scotch. i need about 5 shots of this oro blend. i will not buy this again, now i have to finish the bag-buggger Show details
Taste is personal – This is ok, I buy beans and grind for flat white in a Gaggia Classic. I'm not into buying expensive gormet beans, I'm happy to treat myself at a cafe for that. I prefer Vittoria beans at half price from Coles or Woolies ;) Show details
Delicious – Delicious, is now everyday coffee. Cannot get enough! Very smooth Show details
This is a perfect blend full of flavour and depth!! – This review is about their new oro mountain grown blend. Amazing coffee taste, rich with flavour and unique notes. I saw it on coles,$10 for 500gr on special, bought a kilo, one of the best desicions I have ever made! Very impressive from lavazza. I am so glad finally i got to try this brand which I always wanted to and never did. Please by all means try it for yourself and you won't be dissapointed. Show details
New Lavazza Qualita Oro not the same coffee – Been drinking the Blue label for years, converted many friends to it, when I heard labeling was changing I stockpiled what I could find of the old blue label here in Perth WA but xmas saw the last of it. NO WAY is this the same. Cannot drink this stuff. Even the strength labeling changed? Show details
Lavazza has put me off coffee – Ok, i worked as a Tech for Lavazza (Valcorp) There Club product was good, but this level its never been good in my view. I just bought some from ALDI even though i put it back on the shelf 3 times. Have brewed 3 different batches and its horrible... fruity, weird, just not pleasant at all. I think my tastes may have changed, but this product has remained the same If you like a deep, rich, chocolatey coffee, this is 100% NOT IT!

Lavazza Oro Red Label – We have been drinking Lavazza with the BLUE circle label for 10 years.... just bought a kilo from Coles with a red circle label. Says on the side Fruity & Floral...... it's a very different taste and not enjoyable. What has happened? No longer enjoying our favorite coffee.... so bad..jj
It's changed! – I have been drinking the Quality Oro for 40 years and the latest batch is a different colour, texture and is definitely not as good. I have noticed over the past 2 years that it lacks flavour and body but this latest batch is poor.
Excellent Coffee! – I had only discovered this after a friend gave me a cup... I had tried many different kinds of ground coffee (I don't have a grinder) and I can safely say that this is the best I have found in a supermarket aisle. I suspect those who found it terrible probably had a bad batch and should give it another try. So far, so good, for me, to the point… Read more
that I have completely given up on instant coffee. I have a preference for a drip filter, I am utterly hopeless at espresso, and this combined with some pure cream is pure joy. Love it.
[Edit 29/11/2017] Just over a year down the track, and I must say I am in agreement with those who are commenting that it seems weak now where it did not. Perhaps I have now got a bad batch. I'll persist, but I find I am needing to use more coffee to get that same rich taste.
Why is this Lavazza so bad? – Bought some Lavazza Qualito Oro coffee beans at Coles in January 2016. The coffee is revolting. What's going on? Lavazza has always been so good
Awful taste – We are very dissapointed with the Lavazza Oro, it used to be our favourite, but now it leaves that awful taste , like a bitterness after taste, sugar does not help, is it a bad batch of coffee beans?
No aroma – I bought it at Woolies as it was on sale and have read some good reviews about it. I am so disappointed with it. Aso it is too fine to be used with a plunger. Never again!
Coffee? – No it is not! Bought 500 gr beans from Coles and was disappointed with the espresso produced from it. Total lack of aroma, very thin crema, and tastes like water! Bad coffee overall or just a bad roast? Whatever the case: Come on! You can do better!
Used to be good – This used to be my favourite widely available coffee brand. Somethings changed, or maybe I've just got a bad batch. Bought a kilo of the ground blend 3 days ago and was looking forward to the usual fabulousness. However this bag tastes a bit burnt, bitter, not quite right. Nothings changed in my preparation, I hope Lavazza haven't changed their way of roasting and preparing beans. Hate to have to say goodbye to an old friend.
Coffee from a supermarket – Lavazza Qualita Oro has always produced a fine consistent coffee and would rate almost Number 1 in Supermarket Purchased Coffee,it sells quicker than any other brand in my Italian community in Brisbane and I always seem to go back to it after trying many others, everyone I have served it to says "THATS BEAUTIFUL COFFEE". Always smooth, full bodied flavor, not bitter
