Following my car and caravan accident in my LX 570, and having been towing with my LX 500d F Sport, I am answering some follow-up questions. The below vehicle is my 5th Lexus and 4th LX. After 3 brilliant LX models, either 470 or 570, this twin turbo diesel is nothing short of motoring excellence. The running costs are far less than my previous… Read more

petrol models, especially considering the super responsive motor with peerless F Sport specific performance enhancements. See Lexus.com.au for specifics. I was incredibly fortunate to be insured with RACQ at the time of my accident. RACQ has been my insurer for the last 40 years. Never having had an accident in this time, I was absolutely thrilled with RACQ and their staff who had my back in an incredibly challenging situation and I simply cannot be more grateful. This company went above and beyond for my little family and I received personal support, the benefit of a customer-based best practice policy and I will never be insured with anyone else. Accidents may be unavoidable but buying a Lexus and being insured with RACQ meant certain disaster was averted.

These vehicles will save your life every day of the week. After the front axle broke off my caravan and the resulting catastrophic cascade should have killed both myself and my animals outright, every single agency involved has seen for themselves that the Lexus safety first policy is unchallenged. I took my hands off the wheel as the caravan… Read more

came off the tow ball while still attached to the chains, slammed into the back of the car and speared us through the guardrail. Every panel was damaged, both vehicles a complete loss, but the capsule of the car was completely untouched. No sore muscles, ruffled feathers or fur, the parrot water didn’t spill, no airbags needed to be deployed luckily as my animals weren’t safety in their carriers in their seat belts as normal. The vehicle simply took over as I left it to do its job and what a spectacular performance!!! Best experience of my life. Flip to hooking up a horse float to the LX500D and the vehicle resented me steering it. The new technology is nothing short of thrilling and that F Sport will stop at nothing to keep me and mine safe. Think a Lexus is expensive? Put a price on your and your family and work backwards. Every time I see an accident on the news, my obvious response is SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A LEXUS!

lX470 – I have owned two LX470's firstly a 1998 and now a 2004 Sensational vehicles I changed my exhaust system and put a 3" ceramic head extractor system on the 2004 model. Why? 2 litres per 100k better economy, and more punch. The exhaust gases are removed quicker With that of course comes a beautiful V8 sound, but not too loud This reliable… Read more

Best all round vehicle I have ever owned – I have owned Range Rovers, Territory, Pajero, and many other nice cars. This vehicle easily beats them all hands down. I have the 2004 with 5 speed auto. Only ever run 98 in it and regularly service with 5w/30w full synth oil. We average 14l/100 around town and get below 10 fully loaded on the highway. Towing a mid size camper trailer fully loaded… Read more

up the great divide and back averaged 17. Flogged all my mates towing with their turbo diesels.

Comfortable, roomy, goes great, sounds great, and reliable. We love it. My wife has taken it as her own car and won't drive the Saab.

I highly recomend an LX 470. Given all the parts are Toyota 100 series I found them pretty well priced compared to other vehicle I mentioned earlier. But have only ever purchase service items. Get the 5. Speed if you want a bit better economy. The 141 L twin Tanks get me about 800 k range. Love the height adjustable suspension.

  LX 200.II LX 570

Lexus LX 570 – We have just upgraded our trusty LX 470 after 12 years to a brand new LX 570. The handling is still truck like, but somehow more sure footed. It's like driving a Mack truck fitted out like a rolls Royce.... Whilst the jury is out on the styling, overall, I love the new 2013 20 inch alloys. The things I notice immediately are the engine… Read more

improvements and braking improvements. The engine has heaps more power than the LX 470, as can be expected.

The rolling resistance seems a lot less too. The brakes are heaps better with much more power. With a kayak and a luggage style trailer loaded with holiday gear, we averaged around 14.6L/100kms up to Byron Bay from Sydney.

The best feature on this trip I discovered was the radar cruise control. Set and forget, hardly touched the brakes myself all the way up the coast. High beam assist turns off the high beams for you. The 240V outlet in the rear will power an Xbox 360 but there is a slight incompatibility with games when the DVD system needs to run PAL and the Xbox 360 games output 60Hz not 50Hz. Anyway the LX 470 was a fantastic reliable companion to my family for 12 years. I feel the LX 570 continues that ideal, it is still truck like though, a fact that Lexus have not been able to rectify... yet.

Finally I know this car will sat for 300,000 kms and still be worth something at the end of it. LX 570 continues on the luxury , cannot kill it, theme of the LX 470 more power, refinement, better tech... Styling so so... Handling still truck like

Great reliable truck – I have owned this vehicle for the last 10 years and other than servicing it has not missed a beat nor let me down. I put it on lpg about 3 years ago and haven't looked back since. Lost the small aux tank and now have another 100 litres or discount running. Can bring myself to upgrade this yet as I still enjoy driving it.  Show details

Simply the best! – I own a 2000 lx and I can say after 12 years it is still a delight to drive, this is a quality vehicle. Yes it's big, comfortable, confident and competent in everything it does. I have had a few issues over time such as a cracked header and the fuel consumption is a bit on the high side but overall it's a beautiful car. FYI I return 14.7L/100k… Read more ·  2

average trip and 18-20L/100k around town. Space, space and more space. Long distance road eater! It will tow anything. Comfortable and quite. Lexus servicing is 1st class. Better quality to 100 series. Some parts can be expensive (header) and with today's fuel price it can be expensive to run.

Excellent – OK what do you want in a car? This is a family load lugger that could tow the Queen Mary This aint no sports 4wd. It is big. Big is great for lugging a load, boat trailer, horse float or a family with all the bikes etc, I like big, big is comfortable on a long trip. If my kids want their mates taken somewhere, no problem we seat 8, jump in. … Read more

A story about Lexus service. We were travelling around Tassie, Extreme 4wd, the window mechanism busted on the passenger with the window stuck down. In Tasmania, this is not a good situation, with mud to the window sills we arrived at Hobart Lexus, the part will be airmailed overnight express, here is a brand new Lexus is 200 off the showroom floor 21kms on the clock, have a nice couple of days in Hobart, the car was returned to us fully detailed inside and out, amazing service from Lexus. I have owned HSV etc and this is the best car i have ever owned, $35 to fill on LPG gets me 350klms, as cheap as a camry to run in regards to fuel.

Far from being a disadvantage Lexus's association and parts sharing with Toyota is an ADVANTAGE. I can get parts in any state of this country within a day or 2 if they are not stocked by the toyota dealership. try that in your range rover, VW Mercedes or Audi, good luck with that. Hugely capable off road vehicle diff locks centre and rear standard, silent cabin, awesome stereo, galvanised shell and panels, hasnt shown any rust in 12 years and we have abused this car at the beach in a salt environment, all the bells and whistles, it has a fridge, seats 8, comfortable long travel suspension, LEXUS service second to none, TOYOTA reliability and service centres around Australia. Very economical ($) on gas conversion. Still gets me compliments 12 years later, looks better than the current model LX 570, great commanding view of the road. Handbrake a bit suspect, could have better brakes in my opinion, retaining straps on fold down seats inadequate in regards to durability.
