Lg TVs bad products and service – LG Super UHD 4K TV w Tru Motion 200, NanoCell™ Technology, Alpha 7 Gen2 processor & Google Assistant After 4 years of using the screen developed a back light leaking as you can see from the the photos on the lower edge of the screen. Contacted Lg service for a repair they said it's out of warranty even they know very well it's a manufacturer… Read more

defects. That's their answer on whatsapp:

"We note that the Manufacturer's Warranty has expired which is only covered for 12months. We have considered the Australian Consumer Law and given the age of your TV of 4 years old and out of warranty for 1334 days, and the purchase price of $1185, LG considers that the product is of acceptable quality for a reasonable period of time. As such the consumer guarantees no longer apply and LG does not believe that it is liable to provide you with a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law." Are we going to buy Lg TVs in the future that last for 4.5 years? For me it's a big No.

Backlight Bleeds Everywhere – I will never buy any LG Australia product ever again. Terrible product, worst customer service. I have backlight bleeds on my TV, contacted them and said this is within tolerance and I just have to accept it. I guess they have very low quality control. I expected more from Tier 1 compny. 55SM8600PTA purchased July 24, 2019 for A$1270 Show details

Great display, great remote, very easy to use – I decided on the LG after reading lots of reviews and store visits to compare and contrast. First of all the TV itself. It's light, it's slim and importantly the stand it comes with is centre focused. By that I mean that is doesn't sit on 2 wobbly legs right at the edge. I had budgeted another $100 or so for a stand, but found it wasn't needed at… Read more ·  1

all. And all your cables can be hidden nicely in the pillared foot, no more spaghetti. When on standby mode it turned on in about a second. No long waits for for startup. The menu's themselves are intuitive and it's easy to navigate your way around. Best of all the remote is brilliant. Including a pointer that makes navigating a breeze. And the remote works on RF rather than IR, no more pointing the remote at your set, no more making sure nothing is in front of the sensor. Without using the manual, I had it up and running TV, blu-ray and computer HDMI in less than 10 minutes. The sound is fantastic too. It's no Single Ended Triode, but offers a quality full range experience. Again I had budgeted another $200-$300 for a sound bar, which wasn't needed. If you want more sound, just connect it to your HiFi. The only thing I have had trouble with is setting up an external SSD recorder. It doesn't like drive formats such as ExFat or NTFC. But that could be my fault due to my limited knowledge of recording TV programs. So overall a very positive experience. I have no problem recommending the SM8600 to anyone. Much, much better than TCL, Kogan and other budget brands. It costs a little more but you will be well rewarded in the long run, and I did save $300-$400 because I didn't need a sound bar or a stand.

Power cord is too short so can’t even turn it on – After all the effort of wall mounting the tv and install the cable management it came time to turn on the tv which was a gift for my son and the power cord is barely 1 meter long. This doesn’t get from the cabinet to a power board so I can’t tell you anything about the rest of the tv at all. I was intending to buy the Samsung equivalent but good… Read more

guys didn’t have the 55 inch in that model so they price matched for the LG. After contacting LG customer service I wish I just kept driving to JB and stuck with the Samsung however I was also concerned about remote interference with another Samsung tv not far away in a lounge area.

LG customer service offered no real assistance aside from to point out it’s not faulty and that’s how it was designed. My problem is, if they are so cheap that they need to save a few cents on a proper sized cable, how crap will the rest of the tv be??

Very disappointed in LG. Should have stayed with Samsung... I will edit my review if I ever manage to get it turned on.

Great tv for bright living room – Happy with tv, bought for a bargain price of $1095 in the eBay 20% off sale. Bright picture, good content and webos very easy to use. I use it in a bright living room so picture is great. As it's an IPS panel at night time the blacks aren't super black but it's great for my needs. Limited apps in the lg app store for Australia. Missing Optus… Read more

sports , kayo etc... Have used a Chromecast to get around this but would prefer more native apps. Sound is loud, rarely have the tv above 25 don't need a soundbar with this tv unless your want to fully utilise the Dolby Atmos features.

Netflix 4k and YouTube apps all work great. Even the standard fta channels are reasonable, the fta HD channels look great too.

Overall happy.
