Best fridge I've ever used – Amazing fridge, heaps of storage and temperature control is super accurate. Freezer goes to -30 which is insane, able to keep frozen food for a long time. Has been going strong for years and has never skipped a beat.  Show details ·  1

8 Years old and going strong – Bought this one to replace the biggest piece of garbage form Fisher and Paykel. This fridge has been awesome. When we first bought it, there were issues with the ice maker but LG fixed it under warranty. It has not missed a beat since then. I now have to sell it as we are moving into an apartment. I hope the next one is as good.  Show details

I am very happy with my fridge/freezer – I was a bit disappointed to find out this fridge doesn't come with an egg holder (especially after paying so much money to purchase it etc; But luckily I still had my old ones from my old fridge which fit. Then after 3 months the ice maker broke, a repairman came out after not too long of a wait to replace it under warranty and informed me that… Read more ·  1

the ice makers on all the fridges fail around the 3 month mark for some reason but they have never had a problem with the replacement models. Its been quite a few years since i had the ice maker replaced and haven't had a problem with ice-maker since. I did have a slight issue with the water dispenser not dispensing water but after a call to LG, found out it was just an air lock and was instructed on how to fix it which was successful. the freezer is too small with the ice-maker for my family of 2 adults and 3 kids, so have had to buy a deep freezer as well. but I love having cold water and ice on hand and so does the kids. I'm glad I bought this product.

Inferior materials used in this product – This unit is probably 6 years old now. It was purchased new. I wasn't aware that the right hand panel of the fridge was damaged PRIOR to installation into an alcove of my kitchen. Six months after purchase I moved home and that was when I discovered this damage and wrote an email through LG's webpage and have NEVER had a response. Due to… Read more

moving, ill health and family members' deaths my mind was on other things not chasing up this complaint, the damaged panel was never fixed/repaired. Within a couple of years (which is the warranty period) I noticed many of my plastic shelves or drawer panels began cracking. I did write to LG again but never received responses. Time went by as I lived life but again decided to write to LG a 18 months ago and after several emails on my part time did receive replies from LG. Of course they used the 'outside of warranty' as the reason they would not repair the cracked/damaged shelves.

My grievance is that even when I was well within the warranty period LG ignored my emails but now that warranty is over with, they use that as an excuse to not do anything about the damage and now that this unit is discontinued I wonder if shelves are available to replace the damaged ones.

3 shelves on the fridge door are cracked. Panels in each of the plastic fruit/veg and meat drawers have cracks and a couple of the drawers in the freezer have cracks in their plastic panels too.

I spoke with Consumer Affairs who suggested that LG were using materials that were 'not fit for the purpose'. I tend to agree with that.

Did I buy a lemon when I bought this unit and/or have others had deplorable 'service' from LG?

Good Product ... But not perfect – We have owned this product for 6 years now and on the whole is has been ok to good. We would probably look for different features on the next model we buy. So pros and cons would be.... Pros: - looks good - Like the water & ice dispenser - I never used the water filter cartridge as I have no issues with drinking tape water, it was good… Read more

that I did not have to use it, it would have meant extra cost for no reason.

- love the door in door access port for milk and drink without having to open the main door.

Cons:

- Broke the plastic clear light shield when trying to replace the bulb, the side clips were way to tight to remove it without breaking it. i don't know why they put retaining clips hard against the side walls there is no give to allow them to unclip.

- The drawer runners get stuck sometimes and i have broken the drawer retainer clips.

- Wish the shelves in the freezer were all drawers.

- rust appearing around the water & ice dispenser, not bad after 6 years but can only get worse.

Just got it and very happy – Went looking at the LG because of our previous fridge. Just over 10 years old and has never skipped a beat. Even the original light in the fridge. fridge (the fridge requires 50mm all around).

We hadnt actually seen this model (saw the platinum) in the store and were very impressed when it was delivered.

Great lighting, doors not too heavy (without being filled), great finish. Larger than our previous one so no complaints regarding space.

Was not too happy about the 2 star energy rating- however all the others we looked at were about the same.

The door on the bar is not finished in steel like the rest of the doors.

This fridge has to be connected to the water supply.

Love the light in the water dispenser. Reliable brand, good value, nice little extras in a mid range fridge.

Best fridge we have owned! – Awesome unit, first fridge my wife and I bought 9 years ago! Yes 9. Not a single drama with it! Holds temperature perfectly, is a quiet fridge combo considering it is practically in our lounge room. Easy to clean. As our family has grown it's become very full, but it still keeps up. Sadly the wife wants a bigger one. I won't be letting this one go! Straight to the pool room! Deffinatly be buying another LG, and pray it's as good as this one!  Show details

We have had a good experience and are happy to recommend this fridge – For the sake of balance, I feel the need to review the fridge. container/re-filler from the fridge section. The ice maker is a tad noisy at night but otherwise i don't really hear the fridge. Oh whilst the ice crucher is a fantastic feature when you it about 5% of the ice goes to the floor instead of the large glass.

Overall i feel i can recommend the product, keeping in mind that I've only had it for couple of months.

Update: 25/09/2016. Not much to add. Fridge is going strong. Cause we are just finishing winter have not used icemaker much - so no ice making noise at night. Can still recommend.

No plumbing required – We weren't able to buy a fridge that required piped plumbing for water / ice so this model is ideal. Poor product which failed when only 3 months old. DO NOT PURCHASE LG products – What else can I say this fridge was trouble from the moment it arrived, it had a dent in it already, the motor made a noisy vibrating sound which wasn't normal and the temperatures fluctuated wildly in the fridge compartment. warranty and was stuck in an endless queue at LG. I am lodging a formal complaint with the Dept of Fair Trading or their new equivalent in NSW on Tuesday morning as it seems it's all good for the 2-year warranty but if you can't contact LG then the warranty is pointless. Anyway I don't want a fridge that is 3-months old and has repaired parts in it. I'm going back to Westinghouse. The LED lighting and the good looking doors, excluding the dent which came from the factory Everything else, it failed at 3 months old, was noisy and LG are impossible to contact to arrange a repair and I've read in forums that other people have waited over 4 weeks for spare parts for the same fridge.

Only 3 months old but ok so far – We have only had this fridge for 3 months, but to this point it is performing well. The fridge is very quiet, being a Linear Compressor, very hard to tell when it is actually running. Should be ecconomical to run, even the interior lighting… Read more

is LED. My major complaint to this point would be the loosely supplied water filter for the water dispenser which needs to be fitted behind the fridge. Would have been much better to include it inside the fridge so you would not have to remove the fridge entirely from its built in location each time the filter needs changing. The pseudo stainless steel paintwork finish scratches very easily and will look tatty before long.

I would recommend this fridge to those interested in a smaller side by side unit. It is obviously a low budget fridge without a lot of the options that some of its competition has...but it is almost $1,000 cheaper than most others in the category, so you have to remember that when comparing.

Overall, quiet and performing well. Energy Efficient, drinks hatch, good looks. 10 year warranty on compressor Water Filter location poor, top of the fridge uneven heights so cannot be built in cleanly as it has to be removed at regular intervals. Paintwork marks easily

pockets in freezer are too small to store much more than ice bricks (for lunch boxes) or other small items.

This model is narrower than many of the side-by-side fridges we looked at. As we only had little more than the average fridge space, this model fits snugly after a slight trim of the overhaning benchtop.

We were also attracted to the tall water/ice dispenser but are extremely disappointed with the performance of the ice dispensing component. The water dispenser is excellent, but when accessing crushed ice almost as much ice scatters over drip tray and floor as goes into glass or jug. Poor design of the dispensing lever allows crushed ice to drop out behind the lever (difficult to describe, but very annoying). I've tried using a 1.5 litre jug and it still fails to catch all the crushed ice. Dispensing the cubed ice is somewhat less messy, but often it becomes blocked in the shute and has to be manually dislodged or it will melt and spill onto floor. I keep a plastic scoop in the top shelf of my freezer and open the ice bin to scoop out what I need as it's generally a quicker option.

I'm surprised, after reading the other reviews on this site, that there are no crushed ice dispenser complaints!

The water filters are quite expensive at around $85 every 6 months and only filters odour and taste anyway. Does not filter out chemicals or bacteria. Our water filter serviceman has bypassed the fridge filter and plumbed the under-sink filtered water to our fridge. Quiet, effective, stylish, excellent interior lighting, 'door still open' alarm, tall water dispenser. Messy crushed ice dispenser, cubed ice gets blocked in shute, small freezer door pockets, expensive and ineffective water filter.

Handy with water & ice dispenser Child lock button on dispenser does not actually lock the big, child attracting, push for ice lever (only locks the temperature buttons). poor.

Customer service at LG is a disgrace, extended warranty....Pfffff, you might as well not have any warranty.

LG customer service's response was "but your fridge is keeping your food chilled".....this is a new fridge, at retail price, not a cheap purchase from a seconds factory.

The only way I got any service/support was to lodge a complaint with Dept of Fair Trading, and close to 4 months later I got a replacement fridge, hopefully with a better performance.

Interior of fridge & freezer are very restricted, exterior is rather impressive if you get one undamaged.

Maybe I did get a one off lemon, but the lack of customer service/support made the whole experience very bad.

pleasant experience. In hindsight, we probably should have opted for this model's bigger brother for more space, but otherwise, we're very happy. A good looking fridge. Makes ice and iced water. Fridge and Freezer temperatures can be set from the front electronic panel. Storage bins, crispers and racks are above average. Water supply hookup is easy and well documented and LG include a replaceable water filter. There are only two of us and there is not quite enough fridge or freezer space.
