A month on and regretting it – I moved into my new home a month ago and was so happy to have ducted reverse cycle AC. I was looking forward to waking up to a warm house in winter and coming home to a cool house in summer. Not to mention the reduction in my power bills as they are supposed to be more efficient. I have been so disappointed. The manual that comes with the… Read more
unit does not have the same controller in it that I have on my wall. It also doesn't give any instructions at all on how to program it, and it isn't even remotely intuitive. It has taken me this long just to work out the basics.
Very often the system will be blowing hot air, I will check what it thinks the temp is and it will already be 2c or 3c above the set temp and it is still running full bore using up power. I have had to turn it on and off, which I can only do when I am home.
I got very excited to see "wifi connection" thinking I could manage it from my phone or Google devices, and then discovered that the "wifi controller" does not actually have a wifi connection built in, that is an additional purchase. The fridge I bought a few weeks ago has a wifi connection, not sure why, so why should it cost an additional $200 to be able to connect the "wifi controller"?
I contacted LG customer service to get some instructions on how to program the thing, and after a week of back and forth, a phone call from someone who I could barely understand asking me irrelevant questions, they sent me the same useless manual I already have.
Don't bother. I am sure there are better products on the market. I will be spending the money to get the wifi dongle, only because it is cheaper than replacing the whole thing.
Don’t waste your money – We purchased a new LG ducted air con / heating unit and nothing but problems. It switches off in winter and take 30-40 mins to turn back on. House is so cold we have to wear coats and blankets. Room temperature gets to LO on the control panel. Waiting to hear back from LG as they provided me a service company who I contacted and they want to… Read more
charge me $230 to come out for 30 mins! Why should I pay when the system is not working as it should. So I will not pay for a service guy to come out that’s on LG as the system is useless!!!
System has to be faulty OR not fit for purpose. I just want a heater and air con that works and not turn off. I shouldn’t have to wear coats and blankets in my own home when I have a brand new 18 month old unit.
Don’t bother - so many issues – We live in a rental and have this unit. It’s a piece of crap. Keeps breaking down/doesn’t work in some rooms/gets way too hot/doesn’t turn off when desired temperature is reached/constantly cuts out. The landlord here doesn’t like to spend money on maintenance so we had to beg her to pay for a technician, the unit hasn’t been serviced in years but… Read more
even still with a service it’s just as crap and doing the same things even though the technician said it’s fine.. if this was my house I’d rip it out and install a new one. Poor quality.
High value for money product, reliable and low cost to run – High value for money product, reliable and low cost to run. LG B55AWY-7G6 even have a wifi module so you can control whole system from app in smartphone. It can quickly heat up or cool area without making noise. Show details · 1
Want to replace it after eight years? – It blew a compressor after eight years - now we need to replace it. Even though the warantee was five years, we thought it would last longer than that. A very expensive exercise! We won't buy another LG :( Show details
always works well at -6 to 45.3 deg – I replaced my ducted gas heating and ducted water evap in March 2019 with a LG B55AWY-7G5 with WiFi remote for $7900 I was extreemly happy with the way it performed in winter with a bill much less than what gas would have been. This summer has been a mixture of humid smokey days to a record 45.3. on this day it was set at 22.5 Deg and ran at 26.5… Read more
and when the outside temp dropped below 40 Deg it happily ran at 22.5. the first summer bill was only $45 above the corresponding bill last year. The operation noise level is low and time to heat and cool is good. The installer (ROC industries) found it to be as good as the Daikin premium series at much smaller price. If this unit continues to be as servicable in years to come it makes it a good investment.
I'm surprised by these other reviews. I think our LG is great?? – We had our system installed one extremely hot summer days right before christmas what seems to be a really really long time ago. Temps were and get to 45 here in summer. and as low as minus 7/8 in winter. We've used it nearly every day since and have never had a problem with it. It has always worked as expected and it does what I want. In winter… Read more
I have have the timer on to come on at 4am, occasionally i hear the system start up as its close to my bedroom. It's a slight hum - most times i don't notice it. When we get up around 6am the bedrooms are lovely and warm. I turn it off to go to work and turn it on manually when i get home, it heats/cools the house straight away and really on the extreme days I don't even notice its hot or cold unless I go outside. I've never really thought about it before until i stubbled across this page, but yeah I really like our LG ducted.. It wasn't as expensive as some of the other brands but it works perfectly and we are happy.
Terrible experience!!! – Our ducted unit had little use but died at year 7. No wonder lg discontinued this model - like the 3 before it!! LG service very difficult to access. Installer has no interest - I suspect because LG don't help him. Never never never lg again Why can't the components be repaired? No interest Show details
Summer heat solution – The old Daikin ducted system had died and days of incessant summer heat convinced us to replace the unit, this time with an LG 12.3kW system. It has been installed for about a month now and I must say I am impressed. Slightly larger than the original unit, it has the capacity to bring the house down to the desired temperature even when switched on… Read more
mid afternoon. When it achieves this, the outside unit backs off into idle mode to save power. The control panel in particular is easy to use and the large icons are very easy to read. With more hot weather ahead in coming years, I now know we can easily cope with it and with 10kW of solar on the roof - it is free to run. It doesn't get any better than this.
Baaaddd – We bought this unit 5 years ago and every single winter we have had to have someone come out and replace something on it. If its cold outside, its just as cold inside, if its mild outside, its efing boiling inside, its sensors don't work and it wont cut out if it reaches the correct temp on heating. On 40c+ days it chokes! Now its just out of warranty so that's just GREAT!!! $12,000 spent on a bucket of rubbish! control panel
Crap Unit. Don't Buy One – I have recently purchased a LG aiconditioner and have hade nothing but trouble with it. First the unit heated way past the set temperature. After several attemps to rectify with LG and several visits by technicians I was told that nothing was wrong with the unit, even after i showed a video of the problem. Finally got the problem fixed after I… Read more
threatened them with consumer affairs, had a new micro chip fitted.
Now the unit continues to go into Defrost mode when on heat cycle. Again had the service tech out. Still doing it.
Seems the only way to get anything done is to threaten with consumer affairs, also don't try ringing their customer service department, they are all idiots and no nothing about the units. Great airconditioner Crap heater unit. Terrible Customer Service.
