LG DP-1 Questions & Answers

I am not sure that they can be accessed anymore. They discontinued this product over 10 years ago. Unfortunately.... it was absolutely brilliant!!!!! I think the whole industry has gone more towards that boxes (like Telstra TV, Apple TV, Google Chromecast and the like and smart TVs) I wish mine still worked!!!!!

I have found that with most electronics, turning off the power for 10 seconds or more usually resets it and then it starts ok. In the past, I had a couple of issues like yours as I run the unit continuously (I usually don't turn it off at all even when not watching. I know, bad for the environment, but ejecting the hard drive too many times, in this case, every day or so, I found eventually hurts the hard drives and they play up) and was upset when this happened and thought it finally gone to e better place....... So I turned it off and used something else for a couple of days.

Out of nowhere, I decided to turn it on again and it was working again. This happened about 3 years after I bought it. I had the problem only once more about 2 years ago and now I make sure that I turn it of for a few hours every few months or so. I have lost count how many years I had this, but it could be almost 8 or so. Maybe it just needs to sleep and rest from time to time........

I am not a technician and can only tell you about my own experiences. I am still upset they discontinued this product. It is easy to use even for an old person like me.

No unfortunately you can't access Netflix through this device .. it's intenet capabilities are limited .. LiveWeather .. Youtube and Picasa. Potentially there could be an upgrade down the track but nothing yet. I like the device because it streams my media from a hard drive attached to a computer elsewhere in the house via Wi-Fi .. and has a great interface .. very easy to operate and access .. and a fair price .. hope this helps.. Thank you, I have to say, I think for the price you can't beat it.....Just bought the apple TV so I can use Netflix, however my LG DP-1 will not be obsolete :)

It has only been 2 days since I purchased my DP-1 and asked the above question, but it's performance was so disappointing that I have returned it and received a full refund. The wifi signal strength was terrible. Any further than 5 meters from my router reduced the signal to an unusable level and even reading directly from a flash drive, a dvd took far to long to load.

Have never experienced that problem .. my device is at least 20 metres away and through a floor below and loading is fast .. maybe the individual unit you bought was faulty .. I have 3 of them now throughout the house and they work really well .. hope you find a solution though .. Matt :-)

Hi Pete, The reason you can browse YouTube is because it is a stand-alone application. The machine itself has limited interenet capability and unfortunately cannot connect to a browser.
