8 year review – We have had this dishwasher for 8 years now and never had an issue with it. We scrap the dishes and it cleans everything well the first time. The only thing we have had to replace is the trays as they did rust out when I spoke to LG they said this does happen from time to time but should get a good 10 years use out of them but ours was about 5 years. Apart from that a good dishwasher quiet and good saving water and power on eco mode. Show details
Very limited lifespan for the expense – Overall the dishwasher worked fine for about 3 years. Single daily use (2 adults, 1 child). Slow but expected as I purchased an eco model. But as soon as it went over the 3 year mark - it basically fell apart and all the PCB's needed replacing due to age. Repair costs are about half the original purchase price. Speaking with LGE they said 4 years… Read more
is a reasonable lifespan for a dishwasher and suggested to buy a new one. I just expected it to last a bit longer for the price.
Works well so far – Nice finish and works well so far. Have used it a few times and it cleans the dishes well. i rinse dishes that could be problematic, ie eggs or baked on foods but this is a cursory rinse. Very satisfied. Show details
Good Dishwasher – The LD1485T4 DishWasher has been great so far, we owned for few years now it has worked good every day we use it it cleans our dish's very well every time, we do use KIRKLAND SIGNATURE DISHWASHING TABLETS From Costco we do scrape the dishes before putting it into the dishwash Repair side of things we did have to get a few repairs done, the… Read more
repair guy always called us to book it in at a time good for us
it was leaking (Not a full on leak that the house flooded was a leak from the under bottom did have to get fixed few time's last fix was good as the tech couldn't work out why it was leaking how ever found it as he tested it few times, and it was just a fault in the pipe it self from where the solenoid at the tap had a hose failure , how ever the dishwasher did kill the water due to this new solenoid system there use saved our house from flooding.
No problems with it – I have had this dishwasher for over 12 months and have not had a problem,it cleans & dries well and is reasonably quiet. I do rinse the dishes first but it also cleans casserole dishes well. I like the cutlery drawer feature too. All in all I’m happy with it. Show details
Avoid – Worked well for 18 months then an error code came up .I contacted them and LG gave me the number of an authorised repair agent . Turns out this guy is not that interested because it is a bit further than he usually travels, 52 kms .I think LG need to have a look at who they authorise to repair their faulty products .5 weeks and counting . Rusty cutlery draw – Noticed rust on cutlery drawer just out of warranty. Rust would have been there prior to end of warranty but was not noticed at that time. LG not covering cost of replacement. They said sharp object has removed plastic coating on steel frame - nuh. Rust is apparent as well under plastic coating. For the price they should have stainless steel frames. Show details
I thought it was perfect.. till the first wash – leaked from the first wash, was loud, cleaned dishes well but didn't dry well. Called LG and after 3 authorised repairers visits was deemed to be irreparable. This is where it has gotten messy. LG customer support have not been helpful and do not know Consumer rights - or are hoping I don't. I have requested a replacement and because they are… Read more
not making any of the same dishwasher said they would only offer a store credit. I asked for the model that replaces it and they said we have no idea when that will be available so only store credit available. They must not liaise with the sales department as they have said product code will be out next week and available the week following. Nearly two months with a useless machine paid fully for with no solution. Hoping next week when I ring the customer support they will have caught up on the news.
Extremely happy with our purchase – This is probaby my umpteen dishwasher over the last 40 years and whilst I have not had it installed for very long, I am extremely happy with this unit....I read that many reviews of all the suggested brands but price and layout among other things, steered me towards this dishwasher With electricity prices so expensive and having a smart meter,… Read more
delayed time was essential...I set my dishwasher to come on at 5 am on the quick/easy cycle and I cant remember a dishwasher which has actually dried the dishes and cutlery as well as this unit....it is so quiet, with my bedroom being very close to the kitchen but I haven't heard it at all ...I love the top cutlery draw as all my utensils are washed really well and whilst I haven't used any longer cycles, so far I have had no need ... early days I know but so far so good
Excellent low water pressure – Extremely quite. My kitchen is open and faces the dinning and living room. After each meal our family of 6 people stack the dishwasher and relax watching tv in the living room, I can’t hear the dish washer. The Machine has not faulted. I am a lazy stacker and rarely clean the plate. The machine will clean every thing completely if you start it… Read more
immediately after a meal. We generally wait till after dinner to start, by that time the rice bubbles and weetbix which were eaten at breakfast and the bowls are stacked in the dishwasher are truely stuck to any bowl or utensil, but this machine clean it even if it doesn’t start cleaning every thing till after dinner. I haven’t done the salt thing yet. At this stage I have only used the ALDI dishwashing tablets and those have been great. My wife has done pots and glass cooking dishes in the machine with out any issues. I
Disappointed – Bought this super expensive, but highly energy and water rated dishwasher after our Bosch died. My husband did a lot of research as we really wanted a company who cares for the environment as well as an appliance that works well. The sales guy at Harvey Norman gave it a good review, even compared to other dishwashers in the same price range. … Read more
Gripes:
It supposedly steams off toughened food and grease, if used on the steam settings. - No, we are still having to rinse before stacking dishwasher (one of the main pitfalls if you're trying to be environmentally friendly)
The top cutlery tray has its own spray arm, ensuring squeaky clean cutlery. - No, several times (using it on Auto- not steam setting) I have had to re-wash 50% of the cutlery! Peanut butter comes off easy enough in my sink, so why can't an appliance made for cleaning do this simple task?
The cup and glass shelf "top-shelf" was not cleaning effectively- with grit left inside all the mugs and glasses for at least the first 10 washes. We troubleshooted a few possible reasons and think it's now sorted out: the shelf has to be pushed firmly into the appliance before starting the cycle to ensure the spray arm attaches properly. It would be good for such an "intelligent" appliance to display a warning before starting if there is a simple error like this.
Unfortunately we have found that it is definitely no better at washing dishes than our regular (and soooo much cheaper) Bosch was.
Pros:
Very quiet operation (but so was our Bosch)
Child lock on buttons
Easy to load and unload
Lots of possible configurations of plate stackers etc on bottom shelf, so easy to put a whole bunch of saucepans, jugs in
? energy and water efficiency ratings (if you don't have to re-wash stuff)
