Bad bluetooth – Ive had this soundbar for a while, it was on Clearance at Good guys. It broke after about 10 months but was repaired under warranty - issue was nothing could connect to bluetooth. Other bluetooth issues - random drop outs after several minutes. My old phone (samsung A5) constantly dropped out after a short amount of time, somewhere between 1 and… Read more

10 mins. New phone does the same thing (samsung a35). Now, my new laptop does the same thing; drops out after a few mins. Bluetooth to my Switch is reliable. 3 of 4 devices having issues with staying connected to bluetooth - has to be the soundbar.

That said, sound is actually pretty good. Excellent optical connection to my PS4.

I would be hesitant to buy another LG soundbar based on my bluetooth issues.

Very .... Meh – Bought this because the internal speakers on our TV were starting to sound scratchy. Saw the 300w rating and expected it to be more than enough to provide nice LOUD, clear sound for watching movies and really getting that 'home theatre' sound. I have a pair of 400w pro audio speakers in my music room and have previously run outdoor events for… Read more

over 100 people with tons of volume left over. Sadly, while the sound is clear and the subwoofer does its job, the SL4Y is a huge let-down from a volume perspective. We regularly struggle to hear soft dialogue even if much as a fan is on in the room.

Horrible Unit - get anything but – Soundbar via bluetooth and optical cable only, no HDMI option. Unit is connected to an LG tv, so would EXPECT them to work together without issues - but not the case. Soundbar constantly turns itself off. Decides to disconnect from pairing, and wont reconnect. Sound is excellent, if it decides to work. Overall a horrible and frustrating unit. Show details

I really wish I hadn't bought this sound bar – I decided to buy this sound bar a couple of years ago as it was a good price for an entry level ATMOS experience and was expecting good integration with my 75 inch LG 4k TV when connected with HDMI/ARC. Whilst it's generally ok, it seems to be let down by some very annoying bugs. About once a week, or more, the sound bar doesn't turn on, even… Read more

with it's remote or the button on top, you have to turn it off at the wall. Or sometimes it wont turn off by any means than turning off at the wall. Sometimes, even though it's turned on ok, the TV & sound bar wont connect to each other until you change the input to something else and then back to HDMI.

When it's working, the audio quality is good, but it's setup is very limited and basic. It's been a big disappointment.

Sound quality is complete – Purchased both soundbar/sub woofer and rear speaker kit at discount. I started with the soundbar and sub woofer - very easy to set up (after explanation from sales member at store), having not encountered an optic cable before! Next purchase was the rear speaker kit which added to the depth and quality of sound. Might take some tweaking to get… Read more ·  1

the position of the speakers right. The user manual that came with the product was only two pages, I found a couple of other user manuals online, the instructions for the sound bar/sub woofer contained a lot more information on the rear speaker kit than was in the instructions for the kit. Soundbar is hooked up to LG TV but I am able to use the latest Telstra TV remote for most daily operations - turning on and off, volume adjust etc (auto turns off when TV is switched off). For more specialist fine tuning - it's back to the original remote that came with the soundbar. I didn't purchase this for the loud volume but more for the quality and depth of sound - which it has delivered.

Died after 1 year, just displays EMERG – Exactly the same as another reviewer - EMERG displayed. LG said it needs sending for repair, and quoted 70% of the purchase price. It's put me off buying an LG OLED. Show details

Incompatible with hisense TV BEWARE – Bought this expensive soundbar to find out it was 'incompatible' with my OLED Hisense 2019 model TV. Called Harvey Norman, 2 times calling hisense (20 minute average wait time). To just be told we have to use 2 remotes instead of just using our ordinary TV remote. Rubbish. No apology from LG or Hisense.  Show details

Lasted just beyond warranty period – Soundbar had okay sound and was easy to set up. Just days out of warranty the display brought up a message EMERG. Contacted LG who responded it needed repair and sent me a screen for local repairers which was blank. Of course could not reply to their email so had to send another message to them. Finally got a service repairer. Not economical to repair. Would not recommend and have bought my last LG product. Show details

Much better than TV speakers – Bought in August 2019. Can't fault it. Replaces the TV speakers for a huge improvement. Works especially well when watching footage of spacecraft launches. We don't need to use the included remote either.

Max volume sucks – Having used the soundbar for over a month now, I am disappointed. Watching regular TV or netflix is fine. For lower volume video files (Or if you want to crank the crap out of it) the max volume just doesn't cut it. It's nowhere near as loud as my old soundbar which was cheaper and purchased three years earlier. I would have thought soundbars… Read more

would get better, not worse. There is no HDMI connection, only optical cable so that's another disappointment. You could probably get an equal quality generic brand much cheaper than this, but if you want the brand name, for the average user, this one is okay quality for the price. I went back to using my old sound bar.

Love it – I bought the LG SL10YG about 2 weeks ago now along with the rear speakers. This bar is a little on the pricey side but well worth it along with the rear speakers. The bass seems to have good response, I would highly recommend the rear speakers if you are wanting more of a surround sound feeling. Setting up is really easy specially if you have a… Read more

LG TV. If you are expecting the quality of a cinema you do need to remember this is a sound bar not a full system.

However in my medium sized lounge room It sounds great and the sound projection from the bar is great.

All in all If you don't want a big clunky system this one will do the job.

Good sound bar except for one thing – I purchased this LG sl4y sound bar in august 2019 from JB Hi-Fi in Rockingham. The customer service was good because the sales representative had no problems setting up the connection to the store display sample and playing music from it so I could decide if it was something I wanted. Sounded like great cinema quality sound so I purchased it,… Read more

along with an extra speaker that came with it to create more surround sound. The speaker works well on both the sound bar and the accompanying box speaker as they're combined in the overall cinematic feel, and has been connected to my tv (small flat screen, a bit old now but works as well as the day it was purchased). One little snag I've found is when I use the sound bar with the tv, and I want to mute the tv, I find I have to press the mute button on both the remote that came with the sound bar, plus my tv remote, otherwise it half mutes sound only. But... then other times I press the mute on one remote or the other and then it works without pressing the second mute button, so it is a little bit hit and miss but as an overall speaker system, it's great. As long as it doesn't clap out in a handful of years, then I'll be happy. The price I paid was for their mid range speaker system. I wasn't interested in their top of the range ones valued over 2k, I was shopping with a budget. Good news is the device was advertised at $399, but I paid $299 at the counter, which was not a discounted item, so that at least was one bonus! And one which they obviously didn't pick up on! But I do like the store itself, the products are out on display to see, feel, and play with, which far exceeds ordering anything online.
