Want a Steelseries Arctis 9x but without the connection issues...then grab this – Spend over 300AUD on a headset and you should expect a variety of things to come naturally. Great build quality and sound. Comfortable for hours of use. Stable long term connection. The extra perks they put into it ACTUALLY work. The 9x by Steelseries is a great sounding headset, but its wireless connection via the Xbox Wireless Protocol is extremely prone to interference from other wifi sources...and its own Bluetooth connection. Solution from Steelseries? Turn off all other wifi devices in the area, and disable the devices Bluetooth to merely IMPROVE the issue, rather than solve it. I owned two of them, returned them both and finally went with the cross town rival. The LS is about 50 bucks AUD more, but it is worth every extra cent. For starters, the connection is solid and lag free, courtesy of a dongle that takes up a USB port on the XBOX. Note you do need to use a computer to do vital updates, which took about 20 minutes, but after that, it was smooth sailing. The sound is encompassing; i utilise Dolby Atmos, which solves the only segment of the headsets audio capacity that i find lacking...the bass. Most xbox headsets are usually bass weak, with a greater emphasis on the mids and accurate highs for competitive play. Atmos buffs the bass to an almost movie level of boom, while maintaining the incredible mids and highs. It has a broader sound stage to the SS, but doesnt sound like it is trying to do too much at once. The SS is more comfy though. The cooling gel infused cups on the LS are indeed handy, but they are a tight fit. If you have a bigger head, it can get slightly tight over time. But it isnt an overbearing tightness, it is more of a reassuring fit. They don't slide or move at all, and have extra padding on the frame to assist with this. the tightness forms a great seal, reducing sound leakage and allowing the sound to really hit home in the ears, and also cuts out a fair bit of outside noise once you're gaming. USB-C should really be universal, and the LS indeed incorporates it as its charging method, alongside an AUX port, and dials on either cup for sound balancing and general volume. Indeed, the SS has a complete Engine for PC designed to allow EQ and mic control at al times. The new LS update however gives 4 levels of mic control, the default being 'Streamer' which cuts out the majority of external noise. IMO, stick to that.

In the end, both sound great, but with a slightly better seal and 50mm drivers over the SS's 40mm, alongside a much better connection and better bluetooth codecs, this has to be the premium wireless headset for xbox users. Don't touch the A50's or the 9x, go these all the way.
