ALDI Lumina 1.2L Fryer

It is reasonable for the price – It is cheap and does deep fry food, it really need some better way to be able to remove the oil, it should have a large handle and a spout so that you can pour the oil out when you have finished. The lid pops off sometimes, not sure if this is by design or not properly secured Show details
Blows the power safety switch – I would be surprised if this product meets Australian safety standards. I have used it three times, each in different power outlets to test, and it blows the power and safety switch each time. At time of blowing the whole device glows blue. This is a danger - don't buy and don't use!!! Today is 29/7/16. I bought it one week ago! Show details
Same dissapointing issue! – I had the same problem. New, out of the box and it wouldn't even be able to heat up enough to warm a baby's bottle. Hopeless temperature control and I'm concerned ALDI will only replace it instead of giving me back my money. We'll see! I should have looked at the reviews before I bought.
Hope a more reliable – I used it for 20 months before it stopped working. Size is good but not reliable.Hoping buy a more reliable one with a bit higher price.
Was working fine until – Have had the fryer since July, last week it decided to blow the heating element (blew the safety switch in my metre box) still had the receipt and booklet, phoned lumina and they have arranged to send me a brand new one in the mail. didn't even have to send them the receipt or old machine. just took my word for it. has been a week and still… Read more
waiting for it to arrive but the lady from Lumina was very helpful. Did not have to speak to a robot either!!
Dissapointed with lumina – The deep fryer was great fur us two old folks until it stopped working i will in future save some more and buy a reliable product
Worked fine, until – Worked fine for a few months, then the heating element blew spectacularly with major arcing and a shower of sparks. I cannot find the receipt, so am guessing Aldi won't be interested with me trying to take it back.
Lumina (Aldi) 1.2L deep fryer – USELESS! New out-of-box & thermostat will not heat above 50degC. I used sweets thermometer to measure temp. Love the small size, and closed lid cooking. Great for one or two peeps to use, for frying small quantities. Doesn't need a lot of oil or fat. Am very disappointed about the lack of quality control in ALDI products. Small size is great, but... Its useless when it won't heat oil/fat above 50degC
thought it was great – brought the fryer for $17 at aldi and worked just perfect for about 3 weeks ..then the element blew and that was it for that fryer ..returned and was refunded but just a shame as it was a great fryer. couldnt get another one to see if was just a bad element. great to cook with as i was only cooking for one serve..cooked chips- potato gem just perfect heating element blew out after short time..might been just my luck
Disappointing temperature control – I got one of these but was disappointed - it doesn't seem to be able to keep the oil temperature at 190ºC when set to that level (which is what you need for chips and other absorbent foods). Food turned out a bit oily. This is probably due to the low volume of oil and the temperature change when you add something. Shame, I liked the form… Read more
factor, but I'm going to return it. Small size, little oil wastage Can't maintain temperature, No easy way to remove oil container for cleaning
Love those chips! – I purchased the Lumina 1.2 litre deep fryer from Aldi in May and use it about once a week for chips only. I like the small size since I'm only cooking for two and the compact size means I don't have to use as much oil when filling plus the benefit of it not taking up as much space in a cupboard. It comes with a cute little basket to hold the… Read more · 1
food and the chips come out lovely and crisp.
The price of this deep fryer was only $19.99 and came with12 months warranty. When only cooking for one or two people it's ideal and it doesn't take too much oil to fill.
