ALDI Lumina Ice Cream Maker Questions & Answers
VerifiedI took my ice cream maker down yesterday from using it some months ago, it has a white foam seeping from the side. Is this safe to brush off? Why would this happen? Will it continue. Only been used twice.

I love my ice-cream maker, which I was given for Christmas, I've tried most of the recipes in the booklet and they've been a hit with me and the kids. However, I made the vanilla ice-cream yesterday but the recipe in the booklet involves using raw egg yolks. I'm a bit unsure whether to now feed this to my family because of the raw eggs. Any advice or suggestions please on whether it is safe to eat.

Hi Cecilia! It has been a while since I bought it and so I don’t recall an instructions manual. However, it is very simple to use. Just place frozen pieces os banana in and push it through. Wash all parts really well after each use. Enjoy it! I still have mine! Can’t wait for summer ti kick in!

Does anyone know where I can purchase a paddle for my Lumina ice cream maker Model No. LICM1450
Product Noi. 9620?
you;ll have to prowl the for sale sites... parts are rare
otherwise buy a new machine and sell yours to some other needy soul...?
That wasn;t helpful as why would I sell it to someone else if it doesn;t have the paddle?
I bought Lumina ice cream maker ( model number LICM1450, product nymber 9620) before. I used it first time last night. It did not work. Today I tried again, but ice cream maker has still not work so far. The ice cream base has still keep running, no any frozen. any help?
describe the procedure you used... times quantities etc
Store the bowl in the freezer and use very cold ingredient. Works for me
I don't need any help. I threw away the ice cream maker, because I could not find my receipt. Thanks for your answer.
Just got 1 for xmas , trying banana ice cream right now , going by the recipe in booklet , how much ice cream does that make? it definately isn't 1.5 litres as unit holds.. looks like 2 cups. not much at all!
Hi, I used the Lumina Ice Cream Maker for a few months and even though the box and manual info said the bowl yield is 1.5 litres, it only churn efficiently around 1 litre of ice cream mixture. The ice cream will increase a little in volume when it starts to turn to ice cream. From my experience with this ice cream machine that has the motor on the lid, I would keep the mixture to 1 litre maximum. Every time I made 1.2 or 1.3 litres of ice cream mixture I would get some ice cream getting into the motor and I had to throw the Lumina Ice cream away after a few months of use. I own a 1.5 litres ice cream maker which has got the motor on the bottom of the machine and I keep my mixture to up to 1.2 litres of mixture and after churning for 20 to 30 minutes in the machine I transfer to a 1.5 litres container and I always get the container full, so I recommend to keep the volume of the ice cream mixture between 1 to 1.2 litres maximum.
I have lost my booklet that came with the machine. Would you please send me ice cream recipes?
Sorry Marie I donj't think I still ahve mine. If I find it I shall psot a ntoe here. Have you tried contacting Aldi?
I found ice cream recipes for this machine on line...
Marie: I had no trouble with my machine - make sure you freeze the bowl (without the outer cover) overnight before using. Here's my own recipe which works really well, and makes a lovely ice-cream with low fat.
Ingredients: 750 ml Skim Milk 250 ml Light Evaporated Milk 1 Tbls Vanilla Bean Paste 2 Dessertspoons Glucose Syrup 120 grams Brown Sugar 8 Egg Yolks 4 Level tsp Cornflour
Directions: Put aside one cup of the skim milk into a 2-cup jug or similar.
Heat the remaining 2 cups of skim milk and 1 cup of Evaporated Milk with the Vanilla, Glucose, and Brown Sugar in a medium saucepan and bring to just under boiling point over a low-med flame. Stir often.
While the milk is heating, beat the egg yolks together, then combine with the reserved milk whisk in the cornflour.
Once the milk is heated in the saucepan, pour a cup or so into the egg mixture, then pour the milk/egg mix back into the saucepan and stir over a low heat until the custard is thickened. Set aside to cool, or beat over ice bath to cool down.
Let custard get really cold overnight in the fridge. This is a good time to pop the Freezing chamber of the icecream maker in the freezer.
Churn in Icecream machine for 10-15 mins. At the last couple of minutes add any bits you want in it like chocolate flakes etc
Freeze in a container until desired consistency and serve. I often serve it directly from the machine, as it is a lovely soft-serve consistency after 10-15 mins. (This is even here in our Australian Summer)
Key things to remember: *Freeze the chamber overnight and NOT in the outer plastic cover. *Make sure the mixture has sat in the coldest part of the fridge overnight. *Do not oversweeten ice-cream as the sugar will affect the freezing. Using Glucose will make for more velvety ice-cream as it reduces the size of the ice crystals when freezing.
I have just made a batch of this, and am folding through some small choc honeycomb balls for crunch. Enjoy !!!
